Detective work including tracking that suspects cell phone in order to lead to his arrest last night. After months on the run, this morning this alleged Child Predator is in custody. Police arresting 37yearold greg boyden of the bronx overnight and accusing him of preying on young boys on baychester avenue since august. Investigators say this is boyden on Surveillance Video arn the time of one of the four to. The first happening august 1st when he allegedly sent a lewd photo of himself to a 13year old boy, and then called that boy, offering him money for sex. The following week police say boyden offered to pay a 13year old to carry his bags and then grabbed him. Last month they say he did the same thing to another 15year old boy, this time exposing himself to the teen, touching him inappropriately. Police say boyden targeted his latest victim inside the same park just last saturday. Youre disgusting, dispikible person. Reporter parents in the area enraged. The park where the incidents took place is a walking distance from three schools. Teachers there warning students to be cautious. Its the scariest thing in the world. Scares me as a teacher in the community, and especially because of all the kids, you know, we see them everyday. For their safety, we just want them to be safe. The flames broke out between the top floor and a roof in a vacant apartment under renovation in longwood. A tenant from a neighbors unit says she helped direct firefighters to the flames. I says theres no one there, its vacant. Youre going to have to break down that door. So they say, are you sure . I said, yes, im quite sure. They started breaking down the door and sure enough, thats where the fire was at. Between 15 and 20 people were displaced from the five story building. Five firefighters have minor injuries. And in Washington Heights a firefighter was hurt after he was struck by an exploding manhole. It happened on amster dam avenue and 181st street last night. The fdny was on scene after getting calls about several smoking manholes. Were told the firefighters injuries are minor. A promising baseball player from yonkers shot in the head last month has died. 23yearold Michael Nolen was gunned down shortly after 9 00 on september 18th in the parking lot of a burger king on central avenue. So far no arrests. He was drafted in the 18th round of the 24 amateur draft. The general manager released a statement saying the teams thoughts and prayers are with nolens family and friends. The nypd has released new surveillance photos in connection with an Armed Robbery at the plaza hotel. Investigators say these photos of the suspect were taken before the robbery took place. Police say a man robbed the Currency Exchange business of the famed fifth avenue hotel on monday. The man allegedly pulled out a gun after asking to buy 500 euros. Investigators say he made off with 4,600 euros. Thats more than 5,000. Police say they have identified a female in the suspected abduction of a teenager in bridgeport. Cameras captured that 17year old girl jumping out of a car to escape on monday. Police found that car in new haven last night. Investigators say the woman lured the girl into the car as she walked to school. Police say the teen was assaulted, though the nature of the assault is unclear. The girl was not seriously hurt. Happening today president obama heads to roseburg, oregon, site of last weeks mass shooting at a community college. Hell meet privately with survivors and relatives of those killed. The shooting prompted another call by the president for tighter gun restrictions and regulations. Some gun rights supporters plan to protest during the president s visit. Also today, illegal guns and where they come from, the topic of a roundtable meeting chaired by new york senator kir sten gillibrand. Its happening in Central Islip in suffolk county. Gillibrand has introduced a bill that would make gun trafficking a federal crime. Federal figures show that in 2013 nearly 70 of guns recovered in new york state came from outofstate sources. Hill. Republicans are scrambling after House Majority leader Kevin Mccarthy abruptly dropped out of the race for speaker. The move by mccarthy left the gop in chaos. His announcement came as republicans were gathering to vote on the successor to Speaker John Boehner who is resigning. Mccarthy was widely seen as the favorite for the nomination, but the hardline gop Freedom Caucus said it would not support him. If we are going to unite and be strong, we need a new face to help do that. We cannot allow this type of chaos.
