Nypd custody while enroute here to the first precinct. The escaped prisoner is back in custody this morning. Police say the accused shoplifter was picked up overnight after escaping from this nypd squad car just after 7 30 last night. The manhunt shut down Subway Service near franklin street and west broadway, turning off power to the the 1, 2 and 3 trains to search for the suspect they thought may be hiding in an underground tunnel. The suspect was arrested for allegedly steal, handcuffed by police who were driving him to the Police Station when he jumped out of the backseat and ran off. Last seen running into the subway station. Get a little nervous these days. Its like you never know what the deal is. Reporter this case is the sixth prisoner to have slipped out of nypd custody since june. Among them one suspect caught from detectives outn harlem. There was also detectives in harlem. One got away in the also in east harlem, one ran out of custody in manhattan hospital. And in october, one got away from an nypd sergeant and at least two officers had he ran off. Its really unfortunate that the police cant hang on toupee to on to people. Youre in handcuffs and you can get away. Thats a problem police have to deal with.
