Visibilities are down in many cases to half to three quarters of a mile. Thats down to middle burrow. A lot of the cape is much lighter than before. We are noticing a pretty steady band up around, well down toward the elbow near nantucket. Most of us it will be a slow, steady accumulation except on the north shore and south shore. This goes on through 5 00, 7 is 00 9 00, 11 00. Finally we will see abatement from south to north. Even early tomorrow morning if you are around cape anne or the south shore of Plymouth County you still may be having some snow falling. By that time our expectation is that we are going to have about five to nine inches of snow in boston and eight to 10 around cape anne and eight to how about how much has fallen so far. Mike has been looking at that. Lets show you what we have. Lets show you what is happening here. Not much snow. Littleton picking up three and a half inches. Peabody has two inches. Thats the report, but in salem we had a report of 4. 2 inches. You drop down closer to the city and arlington is 2. 3 and randolph at 3. 3 inches. Four inches of snow, pockets here and there. Traveling south of the city we see rock land picking up five and a half inches of snow but where the heaviest is once you head down toward the cape. New bedford about four inches of snow. Cross the canal and you can see what happens. Orleans nine inches and brewster 8 inches and thats where we had the strong wins as well. And all of that taking place. In case are you wondering about the islands . Fannantucket with nine inches of snow. Dozens of people have been injured after a bus crashes on 95 in connecticut. This was a charter bus heading to moheegan, i believe. At least 30 people were injured and six do have critical, critical injuries. 55 people were on board the bus tour. We will get you new information as soon as we know. What are we looking on going on outside . Not bad at all. You can see thats the westbound side which would have the bumper to become bumper delays because a lot of people stayed home which is the thing to do. The 40 mile an hour speed restriction is still in affect call ahead and check with your carrier for incoming and out going flights. An accident involving an overturned truck near 1 throw 3 and one lane is closed. As far as the delays go, not bad. 10 to 15 minutes from the lever connector and expressway typically very slow, but right now 10 minutes from boston to braintree. You want to lower the speed limit. One accident near route 53. That is blocking one lane as well. As you travel the pike west, right now you are 15 minutes 93 to 128. Beyond that 49520 to 25 and then as you make your way west of there, another 20minute ride to 290. Looking at delays on the trains though. Moderate delays for the red line. Ed and heather . Ed remember, remember, remember leave distance between you and the car you are behind. Heather you never know if you have to brake. And nicole says there are boots on the ground and wrapped up. Reporter thats right. Every once in awhile we get a lull in the winds. Up. It is a reminder that there is still a way to goes a way to go. The high tide was a big concern at 11 00 a. M. They are dodging a big flooding issue here. There was minor flooding along the coast especially on jerico road that gets hit by these storms. But they dodged it a bit. No serious flooding we came across. The big problem are the winds and the power outages. I can tell you the power is on right now, but the wind are picking up and you can see the lines shaking where we are. A lot of folks are out walking their dogs and walking in this area. They say they are used to this kind of weather here. It is not a big deal for them. If you come back to us live i will show you what is a big deal for crews. It is the debris. It is in the roadways. There is rocks, wood, part of a lobster trap here. Crews are busy picking it up and they are monitoring the power situation. We will be monitoring the weather throughout the night and giving you updates on what is going on. Wcvb newscenter 5. Ed thats what i was focused on is the spray on the building behind her. Todd kazakiewich is standing by. Todd . Todd reporter ed and heather we wind. They have wet erred this weathered this storm pretty well. You can see that we are dealing with a lot of wave energy. The ocean is very churned up right now as it has been all day. One of the big concerns was strong wind and we are getting that. And coastal flooding caused by the high tide. Was only minor flooding in a few locations. Right now the tide is going out so flooding is less of a concern, but the winds are still strong and that brings another threat that could bring down the power lines. Today. So there is very little traffic. As we come back live, you can see the parking lot at the beach and believe it or not thats not all media. There are a lot of people crazier than us who come out here in the worst weather conditions and they want to see whats going on. Thats what the situation is here right now. Most people i have to say are weathering the storm at home. Ed i am not sure if it is crazy. My puppy did it all the time. He would take me out all the time. He loved it. Heather if you are out in the storm you know jack harper is as well. Jack, how is it looking . Reporter heather, we are in the middle of i guess one of the bands or lulls of the the snow keeps coming blowing sideways off the ocean. We have low tide right now. I will show you the 11 00 high tide and you can see how it came over the sea wall. Some of the locals saying it started to come over the sea walls about two hours before high tide. It kept coming. It brought down the rocks and debris and they have since moved it back. They pushed rocks at the same time. The good news is this is pretty dry. It is not clinging to the wires. If you come back you can see the ocean is a different story as we are pretty much at low tide. Still a lot of turbulence and lot of energy, but nothing like we saw earlier in the day hopefully as we get toward the 11 00 high tide they do not anticipate it being as high as the one this morning. It is cold and windy, obviously. But it really hasnt been as bad as last year or anything power outages. Marshfield has held it together pretty well. Back to you. On the cape the snow is not as heavy as it was earlier fortunately because they really had the heaviest snow so far. It has broken up quite a bit, but there will be small, additional accumulation. I want to take you out. It is the one on the south shore that will be most significant. The deeper we get into the night , the lighter the snow will get. Anywhere from cape anne to the waters of the south shores. Otherwise for tomorrow there could be a few flakes in the air. It doesnt look like a real snowy day. Another little storm will pass out on wednesday and we may catch the Northern Edge of that which could give us small snow uh accumulation. This is the pattern we are in where may get a few small disturbances. From this storm by the time we get to 7 00 a. M. Tomorrow i do expect a south shore in cape cod to have eight to 12 inches.
