Just hours ago the judge accepted a compromise from the commonwealths attorney and whites lawyers to hold a bench trial instead of a jury trial. White is charged with child abuse and neglect. Her son noah thomas was found dead in a septic tank near the familys Pulaski County home. Kelsey bulger, her attorney, said it was impossible to seat a jury in Pulaski County because so many people know about the case either through media or social media. Both sides waived a jury trial. This comes after the court interviewed 66 potential jurors in two days and and filled its jury pool. About 60 percent of jurors were dismissed because they said they had an opinion or had heard about the case. New at 11 police are looking for a man they say robbed a pharmacy in rocky mount. It happened just after 5 at the Family Pharmacy in the Schewels Plaza on franklin street. Authorities say Joshua Cundiff took an unknown amount of drugs from the business. He ran away into woods. Christy Michelle Beskin pleaded guilty in Danville Circuit Court to arson and murder of donna hiattlanier in march 2015. Beskins Attorney Says the two were friends for a long time. She says beskin did not go to hiatt laniers house with intentions to kill. In court today, beskin admits her actions in the home were not self defense. Attorneys continued to explain how beskin brought a juvenile with her to buy lighter fluid and burn down the home with hiattlaniers body inside. The Washington Post reports that a friend of lovells says she called David Eisenhauer talked about running away with him. Eisenhauer is charged with abduction and first degree murder. Phil that she had been grounded from social media for chatting online with older men. He said they found out before christmas and took her phone away, but she got it back later. Terry served active duty in the coast guard back in the 70s. Terry colpitts veteran people that are in combat and non combat people have the same increased risk for being in the military, where is the link . The link is unknown but one things for sure, those who serve in the military are twice as likely to you may remember Wayne Zellers of radford. Wdbj7 featured him and his brother two years ago in a story about serving in the vietnam war. Zellers passed away three months ago shortly after being diagnosed with als. Ronald lewis from roanoke served in the army in the eighties, but never deployed overseas. In 2013, lewis died from als within a year and a half of being diagnosed. His wife patrice describes the disease that took her husband. Patrice lewis widow the lack of the use of your arms, the inability to walk, the inability to speak, to drink, to eat, to move. He says he sees about ten to fifteen new military patients with als every year and breaking the news is never easy. Its not confirmed, but according to the institute of medicine, factors that might lead into the increased risk of als in veterans are exposure to lead, pesticides or other environmental contacts, tobacco, alcohol, or extreme physical exertion. Even though no one can tell terry how he contracted als, doctors do know ninety percent of patients have only two to five years to live. Terry retired the same day he was diagnosed.
