Overturn Brendan Dasseys murder conviction. Conviction. Dassey. Along with his uncle steven avery. Was convicted in the 2005 murder of teresa halbach. Last month a judge ruled the state had to retry dassey or release him within 90 days. Well because the state is appealing that ruling. For now no retrial, and dassey stays in prison. Gets a new trial is now in the hands of the 7th Circuit Court of appeals in chicago where a panel of judges will hear oral arguments about whether or not dasseys confession was coerced. Attorney alex flynn, whos not involved in the case says statistically, the odds are in favor of the state of wisconsin, but maybe not in this case. 00;04;01 when you look at all the details of this confession, it just had no reliability in it. In a statement, attorney general brad schimel called the decision to over turned the conviction wrong on the facts and wrong on the law. Dasseys attorneys meanwhile say they are disappointed in the states decision to prolong brendans case by seeking an appeal. Flynn estimates this process will take between six months and a year. If dasseys attorneys losethey could appeal to the supreme court. If they win trial or has to be released. On the street there were thousands of people and i saw the fire from the north tower while she survived nearly 3,000 others didnt haberman a west bend woman stuck on the 92nd floor when the first plane hit. Christina schuster was found dead in her apartment monday. Police say she was shot in the head. They say a person of interest took her car, heading towards milwaukee.
