Milwaukee police say they responded to a welfare check at this quadplex behind mearound 10 20 last night. Night. Investigators tell us they recieved information that led them to believe that someone was injured or harmed. When they arrived a man who lives here let Police Inside and investigators found the body of the 23 year old woman. Woman. The occupent was subsiquently en custody for different charges, theres also another occupent who was also located shortly about 1 30 or so last night and he is currently in custody as well. Charges against that man are still pending. Police say they believe the suspect and victim were acquaintances. While they are not saying how the victim died, they say it does not appear a gun was used. Lieutenant mclin told me they are still searching for another person of interest. Interest. People need to stop trying to solve their problems with guns. We reached out to Milwaukee Police and did find out. Of the 115 murders that have happened in 2016 42 were known to be caused by an argument or fight. And in fact, we know that that was the cause of at least one of the murders yesterday. One that happened at 24th auer. A 46 year old man was shot and killed during an argument with another. Within two hours of that murder, two other men were shot and killed. Yesterday the milwaukee metropolitan sewage district approved taking on the land. It will purchase the dam for a dollar and then tear it down. This morning the Common Councils zoning, neighborhoods and Development Comittee delayed a vote on the issue today. And will work to approve the plan before the full Council Votes on the rezoning a week from today. This whole process is basically a workaround that the county executive came up with to get the dam removed. Removed. And a pair of state legislators are upset it. It. Cbs 58s david ade is live at Estabrook Park to explain. State representative Joe Sanfilippo tells me county executive chris abele is abusing a loophole in state law. Sanfilippo says the law was only written to help move along the last year. Now hes concerned that abele is setting a precedent that would allow him to sell county parks without going through the county board. I asked abele about this today. He tells me hes using this law because many people on Milwaukee County want the dam gone. And the county board is just stalling. Sanfelippo wants abele to back up a few steps. 3 take your case to the county board, you guys resolve it between the two branches, and thats the way it has to go. obviously i did encourage years to take a vote on this. And at some point their refusal to take a vote is disenfranchising the majority of constituents. Constituents. The city of milwaukee is suing a landlord for more tn been running a real estate scheme for more than decade. Cbs 58s julie parise has the details. That landlords name is Mohammed Choudry and records show hes purchased close to 100 homes in milwaukee and has been cited for 3000 municipal code violations. He allegedly used fake names to buy those properties and avoid getting caught. Caught. Now the city is suing him for 1. 25 million dollars, including 400 thousand in thousand in damages for criminal racketeering. We spoke with a couple of choudrys tenants today. One of them talked to us off camera about the ongoing problems hes had with his landlord for the last 5 years. He told us chodry is sketchy nearly impossible to get a hold of. He also said doesnt follow through on necessary upkeep including replacing the hot water heater or fixing problems with the roof. We also spoke with the assistant district attorney.
