Sullivan the 4th Welcome back to coast to coast how are you Oh I think we've lost Robert w. Sullivan are right well we're going to scramble to get him back on just as soon as . All right we're going to try one more time Robert are you there yes I didn't hear you can you hear me I can I can where you watching a movie. Little bit of a problem I guess with a phone who knows that's all right listen I got to ask you what was the 1st movie that you deconstructed Do you remember what it was about that film that sort of jumped out at you and made you think there's a lot more going on here than just the plot. Oh absolutely the 1st movie that I actually wrote about was in my 1st book that I wrote the word arch of being was the 1st national treasure movie with Nicolas Cage That was really the one of the movies that are being on the. Analyzing these films because a lot of people are aware that that movie National Treasure is actually a Masonic ritual. The whole idea of the recovery of Masonic in my temple our treasure in a sub touring in trade involved the need holy ground is a Masonic right it is it is a right to fire up a book about the world Argentina it is the 13th degree in the Scottish Rite and the 7th in the York writes and in the ritual it entails discovering the lost treasure of Freemasonry beneath the holy ground in Jerusalem on the Temple Mount in the subquery and treasure of all wealth that's exactly what national treasure is the restoration recovery of this lost treasure in the sub training involved the need to holy ground they said in New York in the movie that is a reference to a former governor of New York State and mayor of New York City named with Quit who was critical in the war a large free masonry and the idea of cultivating the United States as a Masonic Republic so that was really one of the 1st movies that I saw when you know early on in that movie I think it's been years old now that was really tipping the off that there was a lot more going on inside these movies in and of course you had movies like Star Wars with the Joseph Campbell monument that always fascinated me I was born in 1971 so small wars was of course critical call this as well but national treasure when I watch that I remember thinking to myself oh wow there's a whole lot more going on here than meets the. I was going to ask you also when do you have time to coach the movies because I mean just looking at your resume you are one busy cat Yeah that's true and in the study with movies I do go to the movies but pretty much when when I'm analyzing the film and I'm doing it you know really intensely I have to have the movie at my disposal a lot of this just can't be seen on a cursory glance in a movie theater especially when you go on the web numbers or you know really a lot of hidden meaning it's really critical to have the movie on Blu ray or d.v.d. Or to have it on demand or something like that where I can watch the film. Multiple times to pick up on something a lot of something happens early in the film that subtly reference later on or vice versa pretty much going to the movie theater I mean setting I can't really take notes Well you know a lot of times. Although I do make mental notes. But really to do the analysis properly with the film I really need to have it at my disposal while. At it and then move it around fast forward backtrack. Skip around with scenes things like that and typically how is esoteric how are some esoteric symbols encoded in a movie is it with dialogue is it with the choice of characters is it. I don't know wardrobe can it be can it be as subtle as something like lighting. It can be all those things it's really a deep subject matter and the more that I look at it the more of a different things become aware where to me it can be all those things it can be. A plot of the movie can be revealing some ancient mythology it could be the a particular actor or actress cast in the film could be used to trying to conjure some earlier performance and in bending this current of the current film with it it can be lighting it can be costuming and the music can be just symbolism in the background you know a number or you know the Tolkien dialogue or something like that yes so it's more faceted study. And for me it's really watching it and then trying to get a greater context of it in my dealing with the coming out of the water and wholesome on this is a movie where her stitches Francis getting one thing others call. It Out and the call is it. You know and I my feeling is something with the religions of society. So it's it's really multifaceted and I would really stress that each movie has that on the individual basis something that's used in one movie like the number or symbol that used is a necessary and be used I said in the movie but it could have a different. That the symbolism is more layered to have a more. Constantly constantly has to be kept in the back of one's mind when doing the study and what is the purpose why do the producers see the screenwriters encode the symbols is it simply there in their nice little Easter eggs for people with eyes to see and ears to hear people like you go on rap these wonderful little surprises that are hidden in the subtext of the film or is there a deeper purpose. You know I think there I think there is I think it's something stances it's 10 be just like a little history a go and I think a lot of times they're trying to create modern day mythology by including these deep as a character seems into their work and given multiple multi-layered meanings for them you know a movie is earlier considered art it's literally artwork so you know they want to have this piece of art the little logical they want to be remembered they want to be part of our pop culture so in order to do that they like to have create in the quality around it in code meaning and then of course there's the idea that perhaps this is a really fantastic you know subject matters that would movies a prophetic with something happened in the movie that really you know it seems to happen later on in reality is is this part of some sinister conspiracy. You know for some greater purpose or is it perhaps you know where the movie is a creation of a person with something like the collective unconscious where future events are being vetted maybe on a subconscious level that's got to be consideration as well but I think you know when what they're doing there's been a code of these mysteries into these films there is a I think it is. You know I'm just going to put a new story the other son instances that is the case but I think it's really the idea of trying to create something larger than the sum of the parts really create a piece of mythology and and they have a lot of things that they do in the film but can do this and some of the directors and producers are really sophisticated I mean it's really crummy and some maybe not all movies but some of them really to examine the lengths that these guys go through to incorporate a cult imagery as are terror themes in 2 movies it's really something that fascinates me I've written 2 books about it like I say well it started with the 1st vocal Freemasonry because it's you know a lot of weight issues school literally simple scenes going on inside the film Well let's talk about Stanley Kubrick because he's he jumps immediately to mind he has been described by some more conspiratorial benders being sort of the Illuminati is filmmaker he was sort of making films for the Illuminati and then he decided to spill the beans in Eyes Wide Shut but let's talk about for example one of my favorite horror films The Shining and what's what's Kubrick I mean what immediately jumps out at you in terms of esoteric symbols that come bleeding through when you watch The Shining The one thing with the shining that just screams all the page is repetition the movie is just an end. Cycle of repetition Hoover is constantly repeating things and was placing things involving this. Far he really is flattening your subconscious mind with repetition and dongles in The Shining and The reason he is doing that is because he is trying to convey that the. That the overlooker tell where the movie set is a or Boris it's a snake bite of its tail it is that analysts like a lot of research repetition and reincarnation. Early picks numbers. Themes and he just blasts your mind with it I mean everything is in bubbles there's 2 maids is the outdoor hedge maze and the indoor maze of the Overlook there's 2 borders there are 2 kind of spalls a pink one and a green 1.2 I turn to typewriters. There is 20 serve in the practice it's 2 a there are 2 sets of twins the little girls the grading twins and then the older set of adult twins that all men pass as when he's showing. They Torrance's their apartments we in the Overlook so doubles reputation the number 12 is blasted all over the place for me constantly is comporting your head with number 12 the hotel is Katie 12 Jack is the boy with the axe 12 times because the ball against the wall 12 times when Danny and his mother in the hedge makes the taking cycling 12 turns the number 42 is a number not another number. He hit you with a nice T.-Shirt at the beginning there's the number 42 at the end of the movie stabbing Crothers car has the license plate number 40 the word number when you multiply 237 it's in the before 2. When Danny and his mother are in the hotel and are watching the movie that's the summer of 2 and these numbers what they're conveyed to do is to really convey to your subconscious mind it's not conscious it's conscious when you become aware of it what he's trying to do with your subconscious mind is manipulated and conveyed this idea of repetition and we incarnation endlessly calling a point inside the over one percent that's one of the things he does another I mean but then another great one it's well subtle of me does it all over the place and when it was almost went by. At the very best 2 sets of cars. 2 or stationary who are both. It's just little things like that that he does that. Really you know hit you on the interstate what's going on if you start looking for it I mean you see this stuff in every I
