Detectives are now calling the incident a murdersuicide. They say 47yearold Darrell Lee Rogers shot and killed his wife, 72yearold jean marhefkarogers inside their mobile home on primero drive. One of them shot and hit a man who caught them trying to break into his car and confronted him. Meredith investigators say the victim will survive. It happened at a Townhouse Community on park commons drive in orlando. Michelle meredith is live, and michelle, people there are worried for this victim . Michelle well, they tell me this is a tight knit neighborhood, that it s like one big back yard. They can t believe this has happened here, and to a family man so well liked by everyone. In this surveillance video, you can distinctly hear two gun shots, the moment when one of the suspects fired at the victim. Then you see the victim running, running back home to get help. This man says he knows the he did not want to be identified. I am just amazed at the power i don t why he was able to do what he did. Michelle investigators say it night in this quiet townhouse that s when the victim saw two suspects attempting to break into his car. Deputies say he confronted them. He ran after these guys. He s a brave guy. He s a tough guy. Michelle in the surveillance video, you can see the two suspects appear to be walking away. You can see them from two different angles. Off camera you hear the gun shots, and from two different angles again, you see the wounded neighbor run for his life. And they shot him and we heard the car peel out and take off. I think one of the neighbors it had a very distinct muffler sound to it. Michelle the investigators are working to identify these two suspects. Deputies tell us the victim has nonlifethreatening injuries and is listed in stable condition. Summer looks like he will be ok. A former Marion County sheriff s deputy is charged with using Excessive Force on a suspect. A grand jury indicted 33yearold Jesse Alan Terrell yesterday. The indictment says terrell violated a suspect s civil rights last august when he repeatedly struck, kneed and kicked the victim while making an arrest. If convicted, terrell faces up to 10 years in prison. Meredith a bill that would ban discrimination in jobs and housing based on Sexual Orientation will be heard next week in the state Senate Judiciary committee. It would be the first time the proposal has gotten a Committee Hearing in roughly a decade. But now, legislative leaders appear to be warming to the idea. The sponsor is optomistic, even thought the hearing has already been postponed once. I don intent to kill the bill overall. It will be heard, and i have a promise. Now, if next week comes along, and the bill is not first on the agenda, and we do not have a vote, i may feel differently. Meredith the bill is backed by corporations like florida blue and disney, who say businesses lose 362 million a year due to the lack of lgbt workforce protections. Summer a bill moving through the state legislature would allow florida Public Schools to use alternative tests for their yearly testing. A Senate Committee has now approved the measure that gives districts the option of switching from the florida standards assessment to other standardized tests like the sat or the act. Two 10yearolds were hurt in the crash, and were transported to a local hospital where they are currently stable. Parents are remembering the Elementary School principal beloved by the community. Summer a wisconsin man accused of planning an attack a masonic temple with a machine gun has been moved to a different jail. U. S. Marshals agnets say 23yearold Samy Mohammed hamzeh wanted to kill at least 30 people in that attack at the milwaukee building. He also allegedly planned at one time to travel to the west bank to attack israeli soldiers. Hamzeh is facing federal charges of receiving and possessing a firearm not registered to him. He was found in mexico last month with his mother, after a two week long manhunt. He could be charged with violation of probation in a drunk driving case.
