Im josh benson. And i am stacie schaible. This is first at 4 00. Right now, we are finding more storm damage in the bay area caused by this afternoons heavy rain and wind. It really came down out there. And all this time the tornado warnings in our area have expired. Lets go to john rogers live in Charlotte County. John, what kind of damage did you find today . Reporter good afternoon, guys. Yourselves. I am here at luther road. You can see what Mother Nature left behind. Look at this white fence, literally pushed down by this storm. And as we look over here, you can tell that these power poles are leaning towards the road, a number have been pushed towards this direction. A number of homes and apartments in the area are currently without power there. Are power crews all along here, overseeing and replacing the damaged poles. And now over across here, you can see where the storm went through. Snapped branches. And then across the street over there, theres some homes with extensive roof damage. And so this is just one spot there. Are actually a couple spots similar to this where we see buildings with roof damage and damage to cars and debris thrown about. I contacted the sheriffs and they say currently there are no reports of any injuries thankfully but mare know which you are left but Mother Nature left quite a mess around here. How are the people responding to that . Reporter yeah, i was here throughout the day. And sometime around 1 00, the clouds became very dark, and there were powerful rain and whipping winds. At that time, officials were telling people to stay in their homes. Easy to see, very dangerous conditions out here. But thankfully, no varies as of yet. Thank you so much. Now we want to get a look at the damage from the air. Here is our photo journalist in eagle 8 hd. Hi, paul. Reporter good afternoon, stacie. We are just east of i75 and the damage is quite widespread. Youre looking at a little block area. And if i push in, heres one of the houses. You can see how much damage there is to the roof. And if you follow with me, heres what im going to show you, take a look down here, these cars were damaged as well either from the falling trees or the wind. They are trying to figure it out. The power guys are out here too because the power is out in the area. They shut off the power. And heres damage to a house. And the storm which looks like it moved across this way because you can see more damage and below me, the power crews are already out here trying to get power back on. And these guys already have tarps on the house. Damage, this white house, the whole back of the house is gone and the screen porch is torn off as well. So the damage is quite widespread. Unlike some of the other storms lately, here the damage is widespread so theyll have a lot of cleanup tonight. But from the air, you can really see the damage and the direction traveled across these houses. In eagle 8 hd, news channel 8. Thank you. And it rained very hard all day, all over the bay area. This was just a few hours ago. Its a shot toward downtown tampa. This video taken from underneath the crosstown expressway. And now your first at 4 00 forecast. A lot of the action has pushed out of the viewing area. Julie, you were watching this all afternoon and now thankfully its over. Youre right, josh. It was a busy day in the storm center. The storms started this morning and continued through early afternoon hours. Rotation and probably what looks like a couple of tornadoes that did touchdown. Heres the cold front moving through. And i know many of you, thats what youre concerned about, is there anymore rain in the forecast. Hours and storm thes are moving out right now. And a look at the storm reports from today. A couple strong wind reports from pinellas county, a lot of us saw the heavy rainfall and the strong winds but we had a couple trainer reports as well. This one to the northwest. This was sighted from the area. It was a rural area, likely a weak tornado. So we are not expecting the out and survey that but where you saw john rogers in Charlotte County, theres where earlier today. And the National Weather service is in progress actually heading out there to survey the damage and then they can decide if it was in fact a tornado and also what strength it was, ef 1, ef2, we can determine that. Good news, things looking quieter, drier air pushing in and winds have picked up. While the storms have come to an end, we are expecting strong winds throughout the evening. And you can see gusts anywhere from 20 to 30 Miles Per Hour. Especially closer toward the coast, downtown tampa with gusts up to 30 Miles Per Hour as well. And as we take a look outside, you can see clouds around but no rain at suncity center. Picked up40 earlier today. And expect temperatures to fall back quickly, going to be a windy night. We had all four of our storm team 8 meteorologist up there at one point because with threatening weather like tornado, not taking any chances. We want people to know whats happening. Yeah, and this area in particular. We have seen multiple events. We have been talking about the el nio influence and that has a lot to do with it and why we have seen more rotation and tornado warnings. So a busy day. Gone down significantly but we have seen some damage. And either 8 was able to overhead from Charlotte County. Remember this is just south of sarasota. See that. We were watching strong rotation on the radar. And the National Weather service is on their way right now and theyll be surveying the damage to determine what category tornado this was and confirming that it was in fact a tornado. It moved through just a few hours ago. We were watching this line of storms since this morning. And you can see the damage there, already some tarps up. And thankfully with any roof damage, we are looking at dry conditions expected the next couple days. But we just really hate to see things like that. And if you are wondering why we are on the air, its because we want to keep people safe because tornadoes can do a lot of damage very, very quickly. For the rest of the evening for u just a slim chance of a few showers in the southeastern areas still lingering but what you will really notice is temperatures dropping quickly tonight. Its going to be breezy all night long. And temperatures back down into the mid50s. So after a warm stretch, its going to be chilly tomorrow cbs this morning with temperatures in the mid50s. Right now, still tracking lingering showers in southeastern Highlands County and sprinkles left in polk as well. But things starting to wrap up. Just lingering cloud cover around. And heres a loop over the last 12 hours and you can see the line of storms roll through and really intensify into southern sarasota and Charlotte County. Thats where we had the multiple tornado warnings there earlier this afternoon. But thankfully this has cleared out now. And we didnt even have a and we did have a local storm report in northeastern Manatee County as well. Right now, temperatures fairly mild but the cooler air around the corner. 75 in lakeland and bartow. Its 68 in weeki wachee. And 39 in nashville. And 48 in atlanta. And yes, that cold air is headed our way. Theres the culprit, this was earlier today but its pushing out. As the front moves away, the rain chances come to an end and we will be dealing with strong winds. And tomorrow morning, breezy northwest wind, a few clouds around, a lot of sunshine by the afternoon. But its going to stay breezy and chilly with highs only into the mid60s. A big change from what we have been seeing. Waking up friday morning, even coldert. Going to be chilly, temperatures in the 40s. Colder. Its going to be chilly, temperatures in the 40s. And then by friday afternoon, still dealing with slightly breezy northwest winds and temperatures well below average in the low 60s. And saturday morning, it will actually be the coldest morning for us because as winds lighten up, that allows temperatures to saturday morning. Temperatures definitely turning cooler again. We are below average for the 74. Temperatures in the 60s all the way through this weekend. For the rest of the evening, a cool breeze develops but storms is overwith for us now. So rest easy for tonight. Its going to be a quiet night for us. And tomorrow, not bad, just windy. So not a good day to be on the water but we arent expecting storms and then temperatures cool through the weekend but at least some sunshine for the weekend as well. Guys thank you, julie. Football fan, nfl draft junkie, theyre going to get their fix because the nfl scouting combine is underway in indianapolis. And now the 40yard dashes and other onfield activities have already hard at work. Dirk koetter and the general manager were asked about not only the state of the bucs with the coaching change but what the team can do to improve. And now he is a big fan of the combine, not so much for the physical skills and testing, he is more interested in meeting the prospects and beginning to establish a relationship of trust. Maybe the number one thing from a coaching standpoint that we get out of the combine is a chance to talk to the players one on one. I think thats real important. Jameis winston is a great example of. That we werent the only team doing our homework on him. And its great to get them not only at the train station with the coaches one on one but with the formal interviews with all the people from your club in there. All right.
