Live look at i275 from our live drive vehicle. You can see several lanes blocked there because of a crash and you are going to be morning. We have this serious crash blocking lanes on i275, Corey Dierdorff is there now. What is happening . Reporter good morning. I275 northbound at the Downtown East and west exit like you said, complete lane blockage, all the traffic on northbound 275 now being funneled to the Downtown East and west exit lane and then being routed around the accident and right where the split happens with the Downtown East and west exit, they are being allowed to come back on ahead of the crash, but major delays now. Some progress seen, there was a second threecar fenderbender, fhp quickly clearing that from the scene. One wrecker is on scene now trying to remove one of the damaged vehicles. Awaiting another wrecker to remove the second of the four damaged vehicles that were in this initial accident so its a very messy morning on the interstates as that rain has been coming down and causing weve seen a lot of morning. Janelle, im seeing a lot of headlight behind me as we head into the rush hour. Like . Are people still ok on 275 . Do they need alternates . Weve seen delays explode. Its now taking 43 minutes to get from the Howard Frankland to i4. Look at the backup that there at ashley drive in the northbound lanes. Lets look at this crash on the map, you can see all the red here, your alternate kennedy, moving pretty good now, all in the green until you get right into the downtown area. So i would get off of 275, either at kennedy, off the Howard Frankland or dale mabry, make your way to cypress or even kennedy to get up to downtown if that is where youre going but for the next until this accident completely clears avoid 275 northbound. We have a serious crash in st. Pete. A car ran into the back of a 41st street north, 38th completely blocked now, your alternates, 22nd avenue north or 54th avenue north but again 38th avenue completely blocked now, this is a very serious crash, were going to keep an eye on this because you can expect that closure to last for some time so if youre morning drive takes you through that area you definitely want to use one of these alternate routes. Elsewhere on the interstates, i 275 and bearss, we have reports of a crash in the southbound lanes. Ive checked cameras in the area, not seeing any crashes here. I do have a little bit of good news, were getting a temporary break in the rain across Pinellas County, into Hillsborough County the rain lightened up some. You can see here in northwestern Hillsborough County its looking a little widespread lighttomoderate rain across i75,275, even i4 and heavy pockets across polk county to the east of lakeland, moving into the polk city area. This is all westtoeast flow throughout this morning with the rainfall. You can see how the futurecast was showing it will lighten up couple of hours. But it is going to return with some very heavy rain. Futurecast predicting that well see some heavy rain all the major roads and bridges become inundated from then this is what i think, if were going to see any of those severe storms with the damaging winds or an isolated tornado this is when i think it starts to ramp up. So again late this morning and into early this afternoon but then continuing all through the only to start tapering off overnight. Well still have rain in the forecast tomorrow, wont be as the Storm Prediction Center is giving us all of these areas here in green a marginal risk which equates to about a 5 risk for damaging winds, about a 2 risk of an isolated tornado but im really concerned about the potential for street flooding, even flash flooding south of i4 today as a result of these heavy pockets of rain and weve already received significant rain totals across the area. Temperatures today are a lot more comfortable as you head out the door this morning. In the mid60s. And were going to be topping out near 70 today. Tomorrow again hit or miss rain, well have continued concerns for some street flooding but it all gets better as we head into the weekend. Thats floridas most accurate 7day forecast. 6 19.
