He allegedly assaulted an officer at an Asphalt Company trying to talk to him about a previous incident. It had it do with a theft from a company gas card. Daniel sara, for three decades george pera, it said he was innocent and yesterday he walked out of new Bedford Superior Court a free man. Havent snung yet. Right now i want to spend time with my mom. Reporter he was convicted and sentenced for raping a 78yearold woman in springfield. He was 17 years old at the time. A key piece of evidence in the conviction was a single strand of hair, but now the fbi admits that it was not conclusive evidence. During the original trial, the victim also told police that perat didnt match the description of her attacker. A judge granted him a new trial saying strong evidence that he did not commit the crime.
