John is live outside the Lawrence Police department where this suspect is being held tonight. Mateo, the suspect wears an,le bracelet. He is not a sex offender but police will not comment on his past criminal record but they do believe that bracelet is related somehow to the vicious attack this morning. Thats just awful. Deplorable. Reporter this woman lives next door to the 13yearold who was sexually assaulted. She agreed to speak to fox 25 if we did not show her face, morning. All of a sudden they surrounded the house a little after 10 00. Reporter police moved in to arrest 21yearold angel mateo who lived on the second floor of this family for kidnapping and raping a 13yearold girl. The victim reports having been forcibly dragged from the street into a secondfloor apartment. Reporter on her way to school, police say mateo grabbed intersection of boxford and phillips and pulled her upstairs where he sexually assaulted her. Its mayor is deeply disturbed over what took place. This crime is unspeakable. Reporter the victim was held for two hours, then allowed to leave. Distraught, she went to school and reported the assault. Mayor riviera says despite the attack, she was able to give a arrest. The victim will was able to provide information to police that enabled the arrest of angel mateo. He will be charged with kidnapping and aggravated statutory rape. Within 24 Hours State Police arrested the suspect accused in the shooting, 19yearold garcia of everett. Investigators say he was one of two people inside a car that got out and started shooting in the park right next to the eighthgraders home. The arrest, a relief to the family, but not enough for them to stay. Theyre packing up and moving, staying that its the second time in a year their home has been hit by gunfire.
