this is going to be an exciting night. both campaigns say they expect donald trump to come out strong, to try to close the gap, in recent polls. fox 25's blair miller is live for us in las vegas tonight and blair, i understand you just spoke with a couple of people who are playing some key roles tonight. >> the reporter: yeah, vanessa, big night ahead, i spent some time with both campaigns this afternoon before we came over here. they're eager for their candidates to get to the debate hall and get in underwave, but they also know this will be one of the biggest nights of their poti the glitz and glow of vegas, small in comparison to the spotlight about to focus on the final showdown, now just hours away. the candidates today in nevada, after hillary clinton spent recent days prepping for the debate. clinton campaign manager telling me this afternoon, in the spin room outside the debate hall, clinton wants to focus on the issues, not of the scandalsism e. is she ready to address that head on? >> she will absolutely address it. obviously, donald trump is going he's undepricketble. we don't know what's going to happen, but we're going to try to stay focused to proving to families why secretary clinton is going to make that difference in their lives. >> the reporter: how far will donald trump go tonight? >> i'm going to thank the stage to night for you, of the american people. >> the reporter: he released this video today, saying he'll hit clinton hard on recent scandals. donald trump's son eric told me his father is frustrated and feels like he's being treated unfairly. >> they have focus on stories from 20 years ago and disgusting and we deserve a lot better. i agree with my father the system is rigged and we're going to change that. >> do you think your father is nervous? >> if you don't go in to a debate with some levels of butterflies, you would be superhuman. you have 100 million people watching, but he's confident. >> the reporter: a final showdown, likely to get heated in the heart of the nevada desert. and during that interview with eric, i also asked about his father's recent comments that were released. he said he thought they mostly thought how did thinks father first initially hear about the tape being leaked and he said just like everybody else, through the media. >> mark: blair, you showed donald trump's video message student raped and murdered, a teacher aft danvers high school. one of her own students was later convicted of that horrifying crime and now the parents, the of victim colleen ritzer filed a wrongful death lawsuit. this is just heartbreaking all the way around. >> the reporter: it sure is, and in this lawsuit, colleen ritzer's parents talk about the heave motional pain this has caused them, and we can clearly but now, colleen's family is filing this lawsuit, and they want this lawsuit to make a difference for others. almost exactly three years to the day after 24-year-old danvers high school teacher, colleen ritzer was brutally murdered at her high school by one of her students, colleen's family files this wrongful death lawsuit against the town of dan version the danvers school department, the architectural firm that designed the wing of the school where colleen was killed, and the cleaning company th the lawsuit seeks damages, but colleen's parents don't want the money for themselves. instead, they're asking that any judgment go towards security improvements and nonprofits in colleen's name. boston attorney phil traci. >> i think they have are seeking -- they are seeking i would safe ethical, moral victory for the public at-large. for protection of teachers, students, and employees of the school. >> the reporter: of the danvers high school new video stalking ritzer after class and following letter in to a bathroom murdering her hand throwing her body in a garbage can. richard's family is demanding answers, among them, why no one was monitoring the video surveillance system on the day of the murder and why was colleen ritzer all alone in the academic wing of the school when she was attacked. now, in a statement, danvers town administrator told news, colleen's death was a tragic give for the whole commute. our hearts continue to go out to the ritzer family. we have respect the legal process that the family is pursuing. i have reached out to colleen ritzer's parents for comment today, but they declined. live in danvers, bob ward, fox 25 news. >> vanessa: sky fox is on its way to breaking news in spencer. that's where crews have their hands full with this house fire. police tweeted out the pictures from liberty lane. flames and smoking mower out of the house. people are being asked to avoid anyone was inside the home at the time and hope to bring you live pictures from the scene in just a few minutes. >> mark: breaking news from tux burr, a motorcycle crash is affecting traffic on i-495. sky fox was over of the scene after 4:00 p.m. and thankfully the two people on the motorcycle don't appear to be seriously injured on 495 south, traffic is backed up as police look in to what caused of the crash, and help the victims. last night at 10:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. and tonight, investigators are still searching for clues. the accident happened last night object main street. fox 25's kathryn burcham is live in brockton where you have spoke with the teen's family today. today. >> the reporter: yeah, and they are shell shocked. his parents tell me that madio djalo was their oldest son, he was a bright, inquisitive and funny teen, who is now being remembered at this growing memorial. >> i love my son. >> the reporter: with his photo cradled in her lap, the mother of 14-year-old madio djalo is wracked with grief by her sudden loss. friends and family gathered in the madio djalo home today, not far from the spot on main street, where police say madio djalo lost his life. madio djalo was riding his bike north when an 18-year-old driving his an s.u.v. south struck him. a witness who asked not to be horrifying scene. >> it was very traumatizing, watching him lay there, and watching of the driver, how distraught he was by of the experience as well. >> the reporter: police say that driver is cooperating with them. and madio djalo's father told us i harbors no hate, calling it simply a horrible accident. >> madio djalo's family says he was incredibly bright and today, was set to begin sophomore classes, though he's just 14 years old. and was on his way to do homework with a friend when he was skilled. >> everything i heard about the young man this morning, he was a wonderful young man, excellent student. model citizen. >> the reporter: now, there are grief counselors at madio djalo's school today as well as the elementary and middle schools that his siblings attend. coming up at 6:00 p.m., the specific part of the driver's s.u.v. that police say could explain this tragedy. for now, live in brockton, kathryn burcham, fox 25 news. rapist faced a judge in rhode island today to answer charges that he violated his probation here in massachusetts. richard gardener turned up in a quincy library, which was a violation of his probation conditions. he will stay locked up until a probation violation hearing next month. fox 25's robert goulston was in court today. watch for his live report ahead at 6:00 p.m. a boston restaurant is back open tonight, just one day after being shut down over health code violations. inspectional services gave of light to reopen for lunch. saying the proposing that airlines be required to refund fees when checked bags are late getting no their destination. airlines already have to give travelers money, if their bag is lost. hair lines and trade groups were quick to push back on the proposals. they say there's no need for furthego and that ultimately, this will drive up the cost of travel. the obama administration is also issuing a rule, prohibiting on-line ticketing services from favoring one airline over another when listing available flights. transportation officials say they're also considering additional rules to help travelers 1/2 bags for everyone thousand passengers last year. airlines collected $4 billion in bag fees in 2015. other proposed rules would require airlines to own up to more mistakes, such as the mishandling institute, just a short time ago. president obama announced the cancer moon shot initiative in his final state of the union address in january. his son beau died of cancer last year. the task force aims to double the rate of progress toward a cure by making a decades worth of advances in cancer prevention during the next five years. >> jason: taking a look at the temperatures for the day today, and boy was it a really nice one. temperatures well above the average of 60 degrees. we climbed in to the 80's in boston. norwood, new bedford, as well as plymouth, 70's for the cape and highland. head further north and west, but that sunshine, it went to work today and sure enough, it was really nice. drier air working on in too. currently, we've got mostly clear skies out there, temperatures in the 70's. we had a few clouds down across the cape and islands, those are continuing to shift to the east, as the cold front continues to slip offshore, so currently, it's 77 in the city. the dew point is in the lower 50's. breathe in that crisp drive air. this is perfect weather this evening. that wind has died down a bit. now out of the west at 10 mile reported, so as we receive the sun set, shortly before 6:00 p.m., the winds will continue to lighten up, as well as the front pushing further to the south. that will lead to mainly clear skies with light winds, temperatures are going to be falling back in to the 40's and 50's. so cooler night tonight than you experienced this morning. as for tomorrow, you're going to wake up to some clouds, some sunshine, those clouds will be thickening especially to the south and west as we go on through the day and even in to the boston area by the afternoon with those winds turning out of the east-northeast, that means a cooler wind direction and temperatures will be taking a big drop. so look at highs tomorrow, mostly in the 60's, but some spots especially along the coast could get stuck in the upper 50's. that satellite-radar does show the winds out of the west-northwest behind this front, that will continue to slip to the south, but what it will then do is transition back to the north, and that will bring us our risk of some scattered showers, and perhaps even some steadier rain will arrive as we head into so this is thursday around 5:00 p.m. clouds around, breaks too, noticing a better chance of showers to the north and weapons of mass destruction. but as this front lifts northward, the clouds will thicken up during the evening commute and by 10:00 p.m., you're seeing scattered showers across the region. steadier rain again out to the west, as this front will be getting closer and closer into hour friday. one thing you'll notice is that worm front will lift northward, so by friday morning, it's going to be much milder, with clouds around, we could see a hit or miss shower throughout the dave, late friday into saturday. all depends too if we tap into some of the moisture that an area of low pressure is going to form. we could be talking about anywhere from a half inch to an inch of rain as we head in not beginning part of the weekend. -- into the beginning part of the weekend. that could be good because we're in an extreme drought situation with 10 inches below average in concord and worcester too, well below the average, so we'll take any rain we can get. but a lot of folks want to get out this weekend, breezy conditions will be expected al of showers lingering across northern areas, but we are in peak conditions, even fading, and with the chance of those winds really picking up, you're going to see a lot of leaves dropping this weekend. temperatures dropping too. as we'll be climbing only into the 60's tomorrow. 70's by friday and 50's for the weekend and looks as though temperatures will be in the 30's and 50's as we head in to next week. over tough. >> vanessa: new at 5:00 p.m., the city of dover, new hampshire, has broken ground on a new project to upgrade the the first phase will replace a nearly 60-year-old water treatment facility. that's expected to be finished in of the spring of 2018. the second phase will include upgrades to pump stations and storage tank facilities, that's slated to is that right next year and take two years to finish. >> mark: marine fisheries experts are looking at ways to slow the decline of lobster populations off the keys of southern new england. the atlantic states marine fisheries commission will vote later this month on sending their strategies to the public for consideration. those measures could include seasonal the minimum and maximum get them. mayor says the deadly police shooting of an emotionally disturbed woman never should have happened. police responded to a report of a woman armed with scissors inside her bronx apartment last night. when they got there, the 66-year-old dropped the scissors, but tried to hit a sergeant with a baseball bat. that's when he shot her. the sergeant has been put on desk duty. the police commissioner says the department failed the troubled woman. opening statements today in the retrial of the suspect in the disappearance and killing of 6-year-old eaton pace. the boy hesperia way to school in manhattan. he was actually the first missing child to be featured on a milk carton. prosecutors say a store clerk, pedro hernandez, hid the secret for more than 30 years before admitting p.m., new video of a manhunt. police in heavy body armor as they search for a third and final suspect in a home invasion. part of the town and high school both put on lockdown during the search. at 4:00 p.m., sky fox flew over the area and captured police bringing a man in and he was handcuffed, but we have cannot confirm that it was the third suspect. we do have a crew headed to the scene. information just as soon as it comes in. >> mark: breaking news right now and great news. one of the boston police officers shot in the line of duty is out of the hospital. the department tweeting just moments ago, officer richard cintolo has been discharged from mgh. he goes on to say, he is happy to be home. grateful for the outpouring of prayers and support. he and officer matt morris were shot last week, responding to a night between two roommates in east boston. officer morris is still recovering, but fantastic news tonight regarding that officer. now at 5:30 p.m., a new stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from women he met through on-line dating sites. prosecutors also say he conned two soldiers, who were on active-duty in the u.s. army. >> vanessa: fox 25's jason law is here to explain how the suspect was able to win their trust. >> kevin: mark and vanessa, prosecutors say the man would meet the women on line, have a fling and get their personal information to open credit cards accounts. 25-year-old michael shields appeared in suffolk county different charges including larceny, credit card fraud and witness intimidation. investigators say shields used the credit cards to buy meals, vacations, clothing and jewelry. those charges added up to some $375,000. he allegedly told one of the women that he was going to take care of her financially by making her an authorized user of his credit card accounts. instead, he's accused of using her personal information to access her accounts. four other women told similar stories to investigators. >> in may he purchases on the victim's debit card totaling nearly $6,000, all of the activity on the card was fraudulent. >> the reporter: prosecutors say shields also offered financial help to two u.s. soldiers. he promised to invest of the money for them and build their credit scores, but instead, police say he stole more than $15,000 from them. he's due back in court next month. in of the newsroom, jason local police officer says thieves and vandals targeted his movement the vandals separated bln on officer dan daily's house. they believe it lives matter. his wife tells us yesterday morning they found their down stairs had also been ransacked and jewelry was missing. millbury police are working now to track down the suspects. >> mark: a car rolls over in to a building in littleton, but despite all of the damage, firefighters say no one was hurt. it happened on king street around 6:30 p.m. and one car cut off another and caused it to roll over. the front of the store was damaged and both cars have been towed from the scene. similar situation in mattapan, a car smashed through a fence and restaurant in river street. it appears there was a second car involved. no one was hurt hand an inspector was called into make sure the building is safe. >> vanessa: now a very special delivery and of the surprise of a lifetime for a norton woman. >> i got my menstrual cycle every month, i had no swelling, no cramps, but i gained about five pounds. >> vanessa: she had no idea she was eight months pregnant until her baby arrived on sunday night. fox 25's kerry kavanaugh visited with the faly she says if it didn't happen to her, she wouldn't believe it either. >> the reporter: she told me she woke up with stomach pains and the cramps kept getting worse, she went to the hospital and left a new mom. 5 pounds, 4 ounces, one very big surprise. >> everything just happened so quick. >> the reporter: this woman went from not knowing she was pregnant to new mom in about six hours sunday night. >> if i heard this story coming from somebody else, i would believe she was lying. >> the reporter: for the last eight months, her life were sunday morning, she woke up with cramps that kept getting worse. >> my sister is a medical assistant and she says it's probably an ovarian cies. i've been on birth control for years and years, so i thought it was possible. >> the reporter: she went to the hospital and an ultrasound revealed she was 15 weeks pregnant. a second one revealed another surprise. >> i gets ready admitted to labor and delivery and she said you're actually around 36 3 by water broke. >> the reporter: jackson ken any john pierre arrived shortly after that. dad made it to the hospital, but needed to see it to believe it. >> i'm guessing he was tucked under a rim. >> the you imagine? beautiful. the mbta is taking a closer look at its finances and this could be the first step towards privatizing more jobs. the transit system is paying nearly $1 million to a consultant to break down the cost of various services. bus drivers and maintenance workers privatized. the boston car union's says money spent on privatization should go to new buses and trains. earlier this month, the mbta approved privatizing the. dining hall employees walked off of the job october 5th calling for better pay panned health care. boston university say their wages are higher than other universities and offered to pay >> vanessa: two women are charged with using other people's credit cards to buy thousands of dollars in alcohol hat new hampshire state liquor stores. nashua police say the two women fraudulently used three different victims' credit information to buy $3,000 in liquor, all in one day in jim. leave own was arrested yesterday and was arraigned in court on those charges temperatures today, 81 as i mentioned. 79 in bedford. 80 in lawrence. we hit 81 in plymouth, 81 in new bedford as well. 70's for the cape. typically this time of year, we're right around 60 degrees and boy, we felt the coolness yesterday, right? what a big change. 80's had to do. this is what it was. we had that cloud cover over the northeast and that allowed temperatures to stay in the 's of the year, october, where you get flip-flops. you see cool conditions, you see really warm conditions. you can get rain, you can get snow. there's a lot going on this time of year, but this is what we're expecting over the next couple of days. the temperature trend from the 80's right now, dropping back to the 60's come tomorrow. cooler at the cools, and then we're going to jump back up on friday as the warm front lifts northward and as i mentioned a warm front, that also means the risk of scattered showers, that could be really heavy at times, the cooler weather will follow as we led in to the weekend and cooler conditions, northern parts of new england. something we'll be watching very closely. chance of rain looks as though it's going to be dry tonight but come tomorrow, we'll increase that chance. a better chance as we head into friday as the cold front approaches of the region. and that may also linger into our weekend. current temperatures right now though, as we had the 80's earlier. it's now 77, but you can see the warmth to our south, cooler air to of the north and dividing these two air masses is this coldro cape. ists continuing to sink to -- it's continuing to sink to the south and lift back north as a warm front and bring the focus of showers to our area. we don't have to deal with that tonight. i mentioned temperatures in the 70's for the most part right now. it is gorgeous. look at that sunset. sun will be setting at 5:55 p.m. dew point in the 60's, so the air is dry, it's comfortable and that wind has lightened up. we'll continue to see winds light overnight as winds fall back into further in the interior, 50's testify coast. the clouds will thicken, and we'll watch for the risk of a few afternoon showers. notice the temperatures too, highs only in the upper 50's to 60's. this is how it shakes out. waking up to the 40's and 50's with sunshine. by our lunch hour, we'll seeing the clouds thicken out to the west and by the afternoon, clouds increasing along the coast, as temperatures are near the 60-degree mark and you'll see the risk of the showers really moving on in as we head intoest evening and overnight hours. the risk of rain continues friday in to saturday, breezy to look what happens next week. back to near normal conditions, but boy, we get cool overnight in to the 30's, and only 50's for highs. over to you. >> vanessa:
