When you focus youll see specks of green. Thats the best youre doing to do in a drizzle situation to find it. Its because of the winds blowing across the water. When you go off to the north and west of new england what a Beautiful Day it ended up being in maine, New Hampshire and vermont. For people going to any of the fairs. But the wind around this area of High Pressure goes like this. As it circles around the High Pressure, it keeps the winds blowing in from the northeast and theyve been strong all day. Keep in mind, up to 39 miles an hour. Weve seen gusts that high and higher. The wind advisory continues for cape cod and the islands until 11 00 tonight. For winds sustained over 30 Miles Per Hour or gusts over 45 Miles Per Hour. Thats what were seeing here. But especially cape and the islands. In the south shore were seeing the wind and the waves. The waves getting piled up. A lot of clouds and spots of drizzle. Look what happens tomorrow. We have that influence along the coast. The farther inland youll see sunshine. I believe breaks in southern new england but its going to be tough to clear out. Dont worry. Theres some good news in the forecast including clearing this week. That is major Hurricane Joaquin. Houses along if ocean covered in spray from the angry sea. The wind pushing all night and responsible for minor flooding. Not the impact some thought theyd say. Streets and roads are passable. When youre from outside it looks unbelievable. The wind is kicked up. The winds are expected to continue all day pushing the wave intoes the coastline. If you live along the shoreline in massachusetts keep an eye to the sea. Im john monahan, fox 25 news. Down not carolinas heavy rains and historic flooding today from Hurricane Joaquin. The low lying areas of charleston, South Carolina turning into rivers and forcing the state into an emergency. Many residents are headed for higher ground. I lived here 15 years and never seen it this bad before. The National Weather service is warning that some parts of the carolinas could see as much as 12 inches of rain. The search continues tonight for a missing cargo ship carrying several people from new england. A total of 33 people on board that ship. The Portland Press harold is reporting four are from maine. The ship was on its way from florida to puerto rico when it hurricane. No one heard from the crew since thursday when they radioed for help somewhere near the bahamas saying the ship lost power and taking on water. Tonight a lot of people are questioning why the ship left in the first place. The captain knew the conditions and communicated back to our headquarters his the conditions were as he saw them then favoritable and he was confident. The ship was doing well. Planes and helicopters have been searching for that missing ship. The coast guard is planning to launch search boats as soon as the waters calm. Coast guard very busy because of the hurricane. Rescue of a crew. 12 crew members had to abandoned ship for a raft in tenfoot waves and 40 mile per hour winds. The ship sank with more than 2 million worth of cargo on board. U mass boston today, a concerning item in a parking lot led to this. Within just the last few hours, the Boston Police bomb squad detonated a suspicious barrel. Of unknown origin. Police are resupplying their officers with tear gas after a Late Night Party got out of control. Fox 25 is live in worcester where Police Say Hundreds of people got out of hand. Reporter when those first officers got on scene they say this were five hundred to seven hundred people on the street and the sidewalk. They were trying to get in to the palladium but the police started to get between then and the building. The officers were being pushed into the glass in front of the building. Thats when the pepper spray came out. Its fun but it can get out of control. Theres like a billion people here. From a safe distance a viewer caught the scene out of the Worcester Police officers working the security detail outside say the crowd grew so quickly they had to call for backup. A street blocked off from this intersection to that one. Shawn woods working to open a new restaurant next door, looked outside after hearing sirens. The police were getting everybody to go somewhere else. Leave this area. Reporter police say because the crowd became so aggressive officers started using pepper spray to disperse everyone and avoid a riot. The nightclub closed down, turned out the lights and had people exit out a Side Entrance. We have upwards of twenty victims. Details this morning in the Oregon College massacre. The gunman came heavily armed prepared to kill as many as possible. Hes in a classroom. Inves gators say the gunman blauth a still plated jacket, multiple pistol and a rifle. Six recovered at the school, seven at the shooters residents along with five magazines. Reporter nine people were killed and nine others wounded when the 26 year old who attended the college walked into his own english classroom and opened fire. In the middle of the rampage the gunman handed writings to a survivor to give police. In the pages he rambled about hatred toward black men and frustrated about being a virgin unable to find a girlfriend. Someone outside one of the doors. Why the shooter targeted the college is still unclear. He lived nearby in this apartment complex with his mother who was protective of him. Some drizzle showing up on live Doppler Radar. Youre not going to find it looking very good on radar but youre going to see spots that are a little heavier. There will be some out there. Especially right at the shoreline. If its not drizzling it may be blowing in off the waves. To the north its been sunny today. Real nice looking day in northern and portions of central new england. Trying to build southward for us. I think we get into some of that tomorrow. More in a moment. Lets talk about the winds first. The wind gust rs latest observations coming in. The strongest winds are 36 miles an hour. Miles per hour at times over the last couple of days and will continue tonight as well. With the wind blowing off the water you get moisture coming in and it produces clouds and drizzle. These clouds are going to continue to blow in and they are moving from the ocean to the land. Theres a western extend to these and the farther west you go, first thing in the morning you may have clouds to burn off. From Worcester County and western massachusetts you have a changes of seeing sunshine. Especially the farther north and west you go. Farther to the coastline youre going to run into clouds. The farther south the higher chance of strong winds and drizzle. We have some improvement in the forecast. Morning. A lot of clouds around but here comes the high trying to build out. The improvement is coming. Lets talk about the temperatures tomorrow. At the coast about 60 degrees with drizzle. A lot of clouds. 56 for you in lakeville tomorrow afternoon. North youre likely going to see cloudy skies. Bridge water, 57. North and west youll see breaks in the clouds. Dont expect full sunshine but the farther north and west you go into New Hampshire, vermont and maine you may expect full sunshine by the afternoon. 58 in louden and worcester at 52 for a high.
