State police are telling us within the last few minutes that a man passed away after being hit by that tire. Theyve been on the highway here for the past three hours trying to figure out exactly what happened or exactly they do tell us the tire had come loose from a 19yearold womans pickup truck and flew into the opposite lane and struck that vehicle. Traffic here is at a standstill right now and has been for the past few hours. State police have been out here reconstructing this accident scene and trying to figure out what exactly happened and how that man died. More than 24 hours after an explosion and fire at an nwa plant, firefighters have been able to put out the flames. Jonathan hall is live there. Reporter some good news here, ryan. It was a stubborn, stubborn fire. It took 24 hours to put out, but at this moment we can tell you that the fire at this Sewage Treatment plant is finally out. Quincy firefighters do you said this area some hitting hard to reach areas and extinguishing the fire. An explosion yesterday afternoon in an odor control section of the plant caused the fire and it worked its way into some duct work, the mwra brought in a huge crane and removed a 14 by five foot slab of concrete. It was actually the roof of this underground section, and by removing that that allowed them and the firemen to gain access to the area. Five mwra employers, seeing some video of them here, were working near a large fan when apparently failed. They suffered smoke inhalation. Four of them have been released from Boston Medical Center and they were here on site gathering personal belongings. They did not want to speak about what happened but one coworker told me they felt like a bomb went off and stuff came flying out at them. Back live now, were going to take a look at the home. The crane has been the plant has been working, the odor control section has not. People should not notice any difference. They say being winter helps to keep the odor problems down. Reporter that great camera was the subject of this parking spot dispute remains in that parking spot up the street here. There is the car, the person that apparently parked there and according to police the person who said he had dug out that spot came back and began arguing at them. Police say the man who was in the car originally agreed to leave the spot but that apparently he didnt move too quickly and an the man hop said that he had dug out that spot pulled out a gun and shot the victim in the stomach. That victim sent to the hospital with injuries described as not lifethreatening. But police went to look for the man who had pulled up there in a black bmw and pulled the gun. They said he had dropped that car just down the street here and may live in the neighborhood but when he went into a house that he said he ran into and did not find him inside there. They continued to look for this man. They believe they know who it is. Hes 27 years old and familiar to them but remains away from this neighborhood. Police have been in this neighborhood in case he comes back to it. They have yet to find him, but the victim is said to be 34 years old. Police giving no more information about him because they want to protect him because hes still out there and the suspect is still out there. Route 93 northbound a lot of increasing volume in the somerville area. Just getting word now of a crash involving an overturned car on route 93 southbound. On the way to check on those reports now.
