We think the formula ought to be better target those students that really are at risk. The district also thinks the english Language Learning Program should be provides funds for for 5 years. Up to 7. Governor is making waves with some lawmakers. Governor brastad wants to extend the one cent statewide sales tax for another 20 years. During that time, the first 410 Million Dollars would go to schools. Improve the quality of lakes and rivers. Senate democrats are unhappy with the plan. The legislative intent in that legislation clearly outlined that the purpose of that money was for Property Tax Relief and or School Infrastructure needs. It did not say anything else the proposal is in part a response to a lawsuit against 3 iowa counties. Des moines water works is suing them over high nitrate levels in the raccoon river.
