Mike . Reporter good morning, tim. Weve learned a little bit more since we talked to you last. As the sun comes up, were getting a better view of what has happened here. The fire started in the burning in the vacant building just next door to the one where youre looking at where the firefighters are on top of the roof. Just before 5 00 this morning. That was a vacant building. The house next door was occupied, we understand, by witnesses here, by four people. There was one man who lived downstairs, and three people were living upstairs. A woman and man and a young man early 20s. They all got out okay because of some quick action by passer bys. We talked to a man and woman who both told us they saw it and went knocking on the doors to get these people out. So right now, the firefighters have the fire under control, several crews on the scene, and it looks like there are no injuries at this point. Its unclear if these fires are related to other recent problems in the neighborhood. The neighborhood is recovering from last weekends unrest. Eight businesses, including a Beauty Supply store and autoparts store were damaged or destroyed. Today, people out of a job will get some help. A job fair is planned for those and that fair runs from 11 00 a. M. To 3 00 p. M. At lords Way International church near the intersection. Were told several local businesses will be on hand. Theres also a prayer vigil tonight organized by the archdiocese. The representatives from the parishes have been invited to stand together in solidarity with the sherman park community. It all starts at 6 30 at all saints parish. And this morning, were involved in that Fatal Shooting that sparked last weekends violence. Were going to check in with tim eliot in a moment. Thousands of people have been sharing on social media, like facebook and twitter the picture and the name of the officer who was allegedly involved in the shooting. But his name has not yet been released by the police department. We are not naming the officer either since police havent officially named him. Learned so far, the officer was once an aspiring rapper who rapped about rioting. Milwaukee Police Conducted an internal investigation into his music when he worked as a police aide. He did pass a background check and got in the academy. Two years ago, he hit the streets as a worn officer. And despite some reports that the officer and the armed man who he shot, smith, that they knew each other from high school. We have verified they did not go to high School Together but they did know each neighborhood. Now, the police say he has been getting threats online, as i mentioned, and hes now staying with relatives out of town as the state continues their investigation. Right now, theyre still reviewing body camera footage from the shooting. Happened saturday afternoon near a traffic stop. Police say smith got out of his shows Smith Holding a gun during the encounter. Investigators say the gun was stolen. The body camera footage has not been released. Com and the 12 news mobile app. Right now, Milwaukee Police are looking for the driver responsible for hitting and killing a woman, 22yearold bunch died while crossing the street on tuesday night. Her mother tells wisn12 the driver and passenger left a 1999 Cadillac Deville behind and ran off leaving her to die in the street. Now, her family is looking for answers. All im saying, they needed to turn themselves in. I just want if anybody knows them or if theyre watching the news, just turn yourself in. Me and my family have not had any sleep. Her mother says that the family found out about her being killed when people posted videos she says, it was an awful way to find out. Time now is 6 05. Firefighters still dousing hot spots on that one. And so close to the neighboring house it caught that house on fire, as well. And you can see, theyre cutting through the roof looking for burning embers there. And a handful of hose lines active as they hunt for the hot spots. And right now, 33rd street shut down at hadley. Wisn 12 news. And we are taking a look right now. This is the airport. Its hard because of that fog. And it will eventually start to mix up. Right now, sitting near 71 degrees. Not a bad start to the day. Just the fog isnt the best. As you can see, the sun, you can kind of grab it right there. There it is. As it continues to rise. And eventually, getting rid of the fog. And the areas were seeing the fog issues, right near milwaukee. Below a 3mile visibility. Thats the number to keep in the if its below 3, youre going to have issues on the road. Keep that in mind. Temperatures now, 70 on the lake front, further inland, in the mid60s. And maybe youre heading to irish fest. And itll be pretty muggy. Temperatures dropping to about 75. Ben . This morning, a Massive Wildfire continues to rage out of control in southern california. The blue cut fire just east of l. A. Has doubled now, burning more than 64,000 acres. Two swimmers from team usa are under investigation after being pulled from their flight home after teammate ryan lochte claims the group was robbed in this all started when lochte and the three other swimmers came back to the Olympic Village early sunday morning after a night of celebrating kind of thing. They were out very late, didnt get back until 7 00 in the morning. Now, yesterday, a judge ordered officials to seize lochtes passport, but hes already back in the u. S. Late last night, officials stopped his teammates at the airport. They were detained because a judge says their stories just dont add up. Both spoke with Police Officers overnight. A fire at two neighboring homes. We want to pull up video from an hour and 15 minutes ago. Shows flames at the homes. This is near 33rd and hadley. Theres the video there. No word yet on what caused this fire and whether this is related to the recent problems that unrest in this area. We want to check in now with the flames consumed about half of one of the buildings. Theyre working to douse all the embers and theyve been cutting through the roof of the neighboring building that caught fire, as well. And its 33rd and hadley as you mentioned, and this is really just a 3 1 2 blocks away from the O Reilly Auto Parts store that burned on sunday night. Firefighters have them contained, some stubborn hot spots in there. They continue to be active with the water towers and the hose line. This is at 33rd and hadley. Stay with us. Weve been following this breaking news story all morning long. Two homes have caught fire near sherman park. Its an area thats been in turmoil for nearly a week. Mike, what can you tell us . Well, weve got more information, tim, since we spoke with you last. You see, firefighters still on the scene knocking out some hot spots as you heard matt say earlier. What we learned was there were three people upstairs in this duplex and one downstairs shortly before 5 00 this morning. Passer bys, a couple of people, told us they went knocking on doors to get those people out. The scene. They are safe this morning. Weve been speaking with the landlord who does not want to be identified or his face on camera. But hes heartbroken because hes trying to tear down a vacant building next door where the fire started. Yeah. This property had bedbugs in the back of it. Because the mattresses, the kids in the neighborhood getting ate up by the bedbugs. And i told them. Here immediately and get this stuff cleaned up. Just tons of stuff. Nothings happened until yesterday until i called. But we went to the police station, we asked the police several times to deal with this. Because we get people dumping. And my tenants call me every other day or every day telling me people are dumping back here. And nothings been done about it. Okay. Thank you very much, sir. Sorry for your loss here this morning. We dont know, we have not heard whether or not this is connected milwaukee, or not. But anyway, three people escaped from upstairs, one from downstairs, they are okay this morning.
