A Major Development in a wisconsin murder case that got the hit Netflix Series making a murderer. One of the men convicted of teresa halbachs death has his conviction overturned by a federal judge. Brendan dassey is serving a life sentence for halbachs murder. He was convicted in 2005 of helping his uncle, steven avery, kill her in manitowoc. The judges ruling says that dassey must be released within 90days unless the state decides to retry the case. That decision is based on dasseys confession from 2006. The judge says it was mishandled and detectives made false promises to dassey. Dassey even thought hed be able to go back to school once the interrogation ended. How long is this going to take . Thema the judge says the interrogation was unconstitutional, partly because of dasseys young age and his when that decision came down, members of Steven Averys family were visiting him in prison. Police say 9yearold Zalayia Jenkins was inside a home when a stray bullet hit her. Today is the groundbreaking on zalayias Legacy Garden. One person died in the fire that destroyed a Shopping Center and one woman jumped out of a secondstory window, making it to safety. By the time fire crews arrived on the scene, the roof had already collapsed. New this morning, a new Mexico Police officer has died after being shot during a traffic stop. Three suspects are in custody. Police say officer jose chavez pulled over a vehicle yesterday, and a passenger in the car shot him. The suspects reportedly ran away and carjacked another vehicle. After having surgery. Also new this morning, two inmates in a vermont prison took a guard hostage on thursday. Officials say they used a sharpened plastic ruler as a weapon. After hours of negotiations the situation ended peacefully. Prison officials arent saying what they offered the men to get them to cooperate. Both inmates will face charges next week.
