Picture from sherman park. Milwaukee police getting ready to enforce a 10pm curfew thats now less that an hour away. Anyone under 18 must be off the streets. And once again Police Closed sherman park at 6pm. Orange snow fences put up yesterday are still in place. The park reopens again tomorrow at 6 am. Its been four nights since the riots in milwaukee and every night seems to be getting better. Overnight mpd made 10 arrests and one report of shots fired. However officers, no damage to vehicles, businesses or homes. Saturday, 6 businesses were damaged by fire and theres now a 10 thousand dollar reward being offered by the atf. Last night, there were few issues. Tonight no issues. Police department. The only presence is across the street in sherman park where a handful of deputies do have shields. Tonight the owner of this bp gas station returned, and he didnt leave empty handed. At the corner of sherman and burleigh, what is there even left to retrieve . The owners of the bp gas sta through a blackened charred mess. We watched their lively destroyed before our eyes. The corner gas staton lit on fire during unrest in the sherman park neighborhood saturday night. Honestly he didnt see it coming, and his world has been flipped upside. A Family Member of the owner says he is too devastated to talk. His attorney , vincent bobbet says his client now fears for his safety with his future unclear. He thought he was part of the neighborhood. Now thats been the owner, fired his own son, after the clerk fired a gun into the air after a group of teens tried to get into the store. A boycott of the gas station lasted several days, before the two sides made ammends, they thought their trouble was behind them until this. Something much worse. They are going to have a decision to make. Does he rebuild the location at the existing location and what does that mean for the future of his business. Sometimes, its when we feel weve lost all hope, we are given a sign. Car the stores safe. A family hopeful, their lives can be rebuilt moving forward. My fingers here are actually black. Since then mulheron has returned each day trying to get back inside the place hes owned for 14 years. Speaking with investigators from Milwaukee Police and atf its unimaginable whats happening around the city. His family 31 29 really emotional, really emotional. Were certainly going to continue to make sure in the immediate future that happens and long term issues about safety are addressed here and across the state and were also be working as we have before with loca on ways we can continue to improve opportunities and education, employment, housing, here and elsewhere the governor stressed that sherman park is a good neighborhood and the violence is not a reflection of the neighborhood as a whole. More police officers. But as city leaders prepare the 2017 budget mayor tom barrett says it will cost millions just to keep staffing at its current level. Fox6s bret lemoine is live outside the zeidler Municipal Building with more details. Mayor barrett is outlining his proposed 2017 budget tonight. A large crowd gathered here just a few hours ago to provide input. Barrett says the cost of police funds. Has cost the city a fortune. He says he supports pensions for city employees. But this year alone, they cost taxpayers 30Million Dollars for police. The Police Budget has increased nearly 100Million Dollars since 2004. Thats nearly double the entire tax levy. State shared revenue, meanwhile, has dropped 12million in that same time period. And barrett says. Consider this. In 2010 mpd Staffing Levels were at 1 thousand 8hundred and 78officers. Officers. But its costing 60million more dollars. Tb you can see why this can become a tense conversation. The one thing you cant do at the city level is you cant print money. this was just the first of several listing sessions planned. The budget will be presented to the citys finance and Personnel Committee in october. Reporting live downtown, bl, fox6 news. Milwaukee Police Investigating two deaths this afternoon. Officials say a man and a woman were found dead in a home near 24th and melvina. Police say the two were in a relationship they say the man killed the woman. They are still trying to determine how he died. Investigators are sifting through debris after a vacant house went up in flames this morning. The twoalarm fire started in a home near 50th and clarke. Fox sixs Derica Williams has i just smelled smoke. Residents near 50th and clarke emerged from their homes to see flames shooting in the air. The embers were coming down four oclock tuesday morning, firefighters battled the blaze. Come dawn, the charred remains of a vacant home were evident. We have an entire collapse at the rear of the main fire building. The vacant home is destroyed and the fire caused damage to the homes nearby you can see how the heat melted the structure and its leaning toward the adjacent house and on the other side,the siding of that home is completely melted. Affected by this. Sherri mcneils home suffered some damage, but shes grateful just to have made it out. Thank god that man who was walking down the street on his way to work cause he was beating on my door letting me know the house was on fire. Me and my family was in there sleep. Now she wants to know why and how this devastation happened. Fire officials are just as inquisitive. But fox 6 investigator bryan polcyn shows you the surprising things he wrote in a nowdisabled twitter account. Hes a young, heavily tattooed, black male. Bragging about getting wasted and blowing money at strip clubs and casinos. Were not talking about Sylville Smith, the 23yearold shot saturday by a Milwaukee Police officer. Were talking about the offir the identify of the officer, but because the investigation is ongoing and the officer has not been accused of wrongdoing, we are choosing not to name him in this story. The 24yearold was first appointed to the Milwaukee Police department as a police aide in 2010. He became a probationary officer in 2013. And his probationary period was extended for 97 days in 2014. A twitter account he used from 2012 to 2014 shows the aspiring dope game wasnt for him. Instead he was chasing a career and a degree. But during his time as a police aide, he also tweeted about thug love. Getting high. And having sex with someone elses girlfriend. In january of 2013, he wrote, if your not comfortable with a pistol, its not worth having it, so use it play wit err chance u get so when its time u ready. And the next month, he tweeted, karma on the other side of the gun. His last tweet was in december of 2014, but the account remained open until tuesday. A search now shows the page no longer exists.
