Drug abuse is a problem that has been plaguing communities in southeast wisconsin for years but recently its spiked. It was two weeks ago we first talked to Alderman Michael murphy. Area, attorney general brad schimel outlined how he sees best to combat the issue. but above all, from my perspective we need prevention, we have to stop more people from flowing into this problem. through july of this year, 161 people have died from drug overdoses. Thats up 10 percent so far this year, according to the Milwaukee County medical examiners office. we have great prevention messages if we can just convince people to use their medications only as theyre prescribed to them, to st in their home, and to get rid of them when theyre done taking their prescription. the mes office says it will take 3 days to autopsy all 12 of the recent deaths.
