But what yesterday will stop that at least for now. Fox6s Myra Sanchick has the latest. Brendan dassey was sixteen years old sexually assaulting and murdering Teresa Halbach in 2005. Dassey said his uncle steven avery was in on it. But was that confession coerced by investigators who fed statements to the mentally challenged teen. August 12th a motion filed on attorney general brad schimel is filing to appeal that decision in the seventh circuit. Schimel says two state courts carefully examined the evidence and properly concluded that brendan dassys confession. Was voluntary and the investigators did not use constitutionally impermissable tactics the case of dassey and his uncle steven avery was profiled in the Netflix Documentary making a murderer and whether the convictions will stand.
