Right now in ferguson, chaos, protesters of the streets, smoke filling the air, shots fired, police cars set on fire and upended. Wilson followed his training and under the law. What happened is a lot of what people predicted and feared. The grand jury did not indict officer wilson in connection with the shooting. Leading up to this, demonstrator said they would, and they now are, protesting. Indictment they believe is a miscarriage of justice. Im ever a mind full this decision will not be accepted by some. Muchte monday, after anticipation, the grand jury did not indict Ferguson Police officer Darren Wilson, indicating the evidence showed wilson act reasonably, not recklessly, when he shot and killed 18yearold unarmed Michael Brown in august. Initially some witnesses said brown,lson unloaded on but the officer insist that brown assaulted him and try to grab his gun. The prosecutor said the facts of the case and autopsy findings contradict a number of witness accounts. Many witnesses to the shooting of Michael Brown the made statements inconsistent with the statements and physical evidence. This has fueled a nationwide debate about police misconduct, profiling, and conduct. Today they called for Mutual Respect and restraint. Officer wilson remains in hiding, or leave, and in talks to retire. Says they expect and demand justice for their slain loved one. The family can still file a againstongful death officer wilson. After the decision, Michael Browns family issued a statement that said they are devastated. It appears the chaos is growing by the minute. Protesters are gathered at two different locations, outside of the courthouse where the grand jury met, and also in ferguson. By far the largest crowd is gathered outside of the Ferguson Police department, where it is growing bigger by the minute. An hour ago, the scene really erupted. A couple of police cars appear to have been set on fire, big flames coming from them. Teargasce were lobbying and smoke bombs. Officers brought in armored personnel carriers to try to push back the protesters will. Topcn that they heard several gunshots fired, handgun fire. There were also other vehicles that were damaged. Happened minutes after the decision was read. A question about why it took so long to do it, the crowd waiting around for hours, the tension starting to grow. The police we were told originally will not be wearing riot gear. Indeed, once the violence broke out, the police did it on their emergency and riot gear. The National Guard is standing by. We dont know if they have been called out to help with the response of the local officers. Meantime, things seem to be growing more tense by the hour and we are standing by to see what happens. All of this is the total opposite of what Michael Browns family said they wanted to see. They have called for peace and a 4. 5 minute moment of silence symbolic of the foreign half hours that Michael Browns body lay in the street after he had been shot. A little more of what is happening, this crowd marched a several to get here, hundred people chanting as we speak at the white house. A lot of folks, i would describe it as more disappointed than angry in the verdict, but still very upset. This is video that we took. We marched with some of the protesters from u street all the way down to 16th street and all the way to the white house, quite a long way. As they went, the crowd grew and grew. A short time ago at the white house, several hundred more people came. , wemood of the crowd is one had kind of expected this would happen, but still very disappointed in what the grand jury decided in ferguson. 200, 300 people at the white house now, promising an even larger protest tomorrow night at mount vernon square. 7 00,re planning that for but a lot of folks saying they do not want to wait until tomorrow night, so they are protesting the night. Six of them are white men, two two of them are black men, one of them is a two of them are black women, one of them is a black man. The grand jury investigation is not the only process looking into the shooting incident. The fbi and Justice Department are still investigating the case for possible civil rights violations. They are also looking into the Police Departments practices deceive there is an overall pattern of discrimination. Thee is a timeline for investigation, but attorney general eric holder expects them to be colluded before he leaves office. Right now we dont have a date will keep youe posted.
