Three miles away from that crime scene, police were called to another Frederick County school where a student is accused of assaulting a teacher. Police were called around 1 00 this afternoon. Officers arrested a 16yearold when they arrived. The teacher was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and not yet clear what sparked that incident. The university of South Carolina was on lockdown this afternoon after an apparent murder suicide on campus. Initially, students were warned of a possible active shooter. Police discovered the two bodies a short time later at the school of public health. Police now call the shooting an isolated incident. No word on the identity of those involved. Alison . An Army Veterans threat against his wife landed him behind bars. Hes accused of plotting to shoot people at the u. S. Capitol. Hes being held without bail tonight and abc 7s Richard Reeve spoke to people who know this couple and hes live outside of the capitol now. Rich . Yeah alison, they tell only part of this story at the center of this a retired army sergeant. He was in iraq and afghanistan, served nine years in the army. He admitted to Police Investigators that he had ptsd and as you said, hes accused of making threats against his wife and others here at the capitol. It was a series of violent domestic threats that the u. S. Capital police on high alert on monday. 33yearold michael bogaslovsky is accused of sending texts and a call to his wife. Senate staffer allegedly threatening to shoot her and other capital employees. I was surprised. Seemed to be a nice guy. This neighbor is among those shocked by the allegations. According to a Court Affidavit he texted his wife he had a gun in each hand. But someone was going to be grieving for their family members today. Im coming to shooting anyone in my expletive way. And by phone, im going to die suicide by cop. Police alerted by authorities apprehended him as he was going into his house. And again monday night. And just couldnt figure out what was going on. Didnt look good. Documents say he told Capital Police and the f. B. I. That he had ptsd and was having issues sleeping and feeling frustrated adjusting to civilian life. Weeks they found two handguns and ammunition in his house. They got married recently. Ive seen them around jogging and running with his dogs. Had no idea that Something Like that would happen. Now, just last year, maryland lawmakers passed a measure making threats of Mass Violence a felony. That allowed Police Investigators to go inside that house and seize those guns. He is now in federal custody pepping trial. He could face five years in federal prison. From capitol hill Richard Reeves, abc 7 news. D. C. Police held an overnight vigil for a fallen officer. Officer brian gibson was shot 18 years ago. He was hit at a red light outside of a d. C. Club at 2 30 in the morning. The officer held the vigil at the time this morning to remember him. Gibsons mother also holds an annual holiday dinner in his honor for his colleagues. 7 is on your side with new information about a locally owned Jewish Business that was the target of threats for months from people who were claiming to be tied to isil. Days after 7 on your side brought this story to light in january, the f. B. I. Terrorist task force opened an investigation into the antisemitic racist and homophobic threats. Fire fire unions and metro are among those at the hearing of ntsb and at the hearing, ntsb which was not there had a letter read saying that participants are not to discuss anything thats not already been disclosed. Even so Council Members had many questions particularly for the head of the fire union ed smith who cited radio problems generally as making the rescue effort more difficult. Yet, firefighters learned in that incident that firefighters worked hard once they learned they were actually stuck in that tunnel. With the lack of radio and communications, that lieutenant made a judgment call to really go and make the rescues. Being unaware of the real power status. I woke up this morning to an email from anthem. Nicola parker is trying to figure out what a massive data breach at her Health Insurer means to her. I didnt think this could happen. Now that it has im shocked and upset and worried about what it could mean for myself. This 27yearold Communications Specialist is not alone. The breach at the indianapolis based company may have compromised the personal information of 80 million people. Everything from names to birth dates to email addresses. Social security numbers, incomes and home addresses may have been accessed. On capitol hill today, senator Richard Blumenthal took aim at the insurer. It is not only breath taking but mind bending in its extent and central impact and potentially heartbreaking for consumers who may be affected. Anthem runs Insurance Programs in 12 states. Its attack follows others during the last 18 months at retailers such as target and home depot. Cyber security expert says Big Companies can no longer be complacent about protecting data. What more can be done to stop it, through whatever reasons, whether its complacency or wont happen to me. It continues to happen. Anthem found out about the breach last week. Last night, it issued this statement from its president saying in part, i know you expect us to protect your information. We will continue to do everything in our power to make our systems and security processes better and more secure. And hope that we can earn back your trust and confidence in anthem. The company says it will offer its customers one year of credit monitoring. The f. B. I. Is also investigating weather the personal information of the beneficiaries was stolen in anthems breach. The health and human Inspector Generals Office says it is assessing whether personal data about medicare and medicaid beneficiaries has been compromised. After the break, a criminal court case that features such depravity it brought about a guilty verdict a the jury has convicted a man, prosecutors say used beer pong to prey on college aged men and then rape them. The verdict today against Joey Poindexter guilty on eight counts covering five separate victims. Montgomery county reporter kevin lewis lays out the evidence the jurors say made them sick. Cameras caught Joey Poindexter holding up a stumbling drunk 18yearold boy by the back of his shirt. It was october 2013 at the pub in college park. The two met while playing beer pong. Poindexter later drove the teen to this gaithersburg home and sodomized him. The victim called police and set up a phone sting. No matter what did happen or didnt happen like i said, i was pretty trashed. And if it makes you feel better, i dont have any aids. A search of poindexters computer uncovered more male victims. Today, a jury found him guilty on all counts. Couple of sleepless nights. Jurors called the evidence which included home videos of the brutal assaults perverse and damning. I think what really got to me is when he started crying. You could hear the discomfort of not wanting this act happening to him. It moved me to tears honestly. They reflect a level of depraveity that is seldom seen in this building. Prosecutors say most of the men dont remember a thing. Even when you tell them you suspected theyve been victimized, what are you talking about . Then you take them back and show you the video. My god thats me. Im very glad that he will not be able to prey on other young adults. At any other point. And so a huge victory for prosecutors. The police have a lot of work still to do. They found at least 25 other young male victims on poindexters computer. And that work is proving to be quite trying as the 40yearold traveled all across the country on the beer pong circuit to cities like cleveland, las vegas, and seattle. They responded to 408 water main breaks last month or an average of 10 per day. But thats down from last year. The record is 607. That was set back in 2009. But whats not clear yet is whether these cases are connected to the 100 or so cases that are tied to an outbreak in disneyland in california. As John Erlichman reports, what is clear is theres a growing push now to toughen the nations vaccination laws. After a santa monica Childcare Center was diagnosed with measles, officials shut the doors. 14 babies are now in quarantine. Its so easy to catch. As california deals with its largest Measles Outbreak in more than 15 years Health Officials in suburban c are investigating a cluster of measles. Across the country, now 102 cases of measles this year. Some california lawmakers want to give parents no choice than to vaccinate. We should not wait for more children to sicken or die before we act. When that Childcare Center does reopen the School System superintendent saying in a letter all parents must show proof of protection from the measles. 19 states still allow parents to opt out of vaccine requirements and a new study finds in 17 states, fewer than 90 of preschoolers get the vaccination vaccination. You can find schools where 30 or 40 of the children are not fully vaccinated against measles. Thats very risky. Meanwhile, in reno mom Christie Mullins fears her 16monthold daughter may be infected despite getting her first dose of the vaccine. She was really sick and had a fever on monday of 102 and she doesnt get sick. According to abcs dr. Richard besser 95 of children are protected when they get one of the recommended measles shots.
