Perhaps, some snow but the transportation officials with whom we spoke out here say that dont expect the pavement to be cold enough for there to be any major problems. And i do have to tell you about two or three minutes ago a woman came up to me and asked me if the snow meant spring would start later than usual . Thats not how it works. Will wrap up tomorrow in kentucky. Reporting live, brianne carter, abc 7 news. Leon thanks, brianne. Good day to be out and about. Alison really nice today. If we can get to saturday, that will be nice, too. Tomorrow is interesting. Doug tomorrow is going to be nasty. Rain and snow. It will be cold. But it will get better as early as saturday. Lets get a look at things around the area right now. Live look from the camera across the tidal basin. Right hand side of the screen. Jefferson memorial. No signs of blossoms yet as weve been reporting. 23 days away from seeing the blooms here. Hopefully by then, a much warmer weather pattern overhead. Im making no promises based on the crazy weather that weve had. Yesterday, we were in the high range for tree pollen and today its backed off the moderate range. 52 with a high overcast at reagan national. Its very dry. Dew point at 20 degrees. When you join steve rudin later tonight, in some areas, youll see rain very close to us in the area but probably will be evaporating before it hits the ground because the air is still so dry. By early tomorrow morning, different story. Look at the presnow temperatures. Upper 40s to lower 50s. Those temperatures will fall but the fact that weve been so far above freezing will help the ground temperatures stay warmer. So thats why we expect the snow that falls in most of the metro area to melt on contact. No bitterly cold air supply. If we had temperatures in the Single Digits and teens to the north, that will be some cold air to tap for this storm. Thats not going to happen. It will be very, very marginal with no bitterly cold air. For the moment, most of the rain is pushing from the east to the southeast. But as the Storms Center starts getting closer, then the areas of precipitation will get closer. That wont happen until 4 00 or 5 00 in morning. Winter weather advisory is posted upper Montgomery County. Upper loudoun county, northern faquier county. North and west, winter storm warnings in the pink areas and the mountainous and Higher Elevations. So our simulation from this futurecast computer model suggesting this will be the breakdown at 6 00 a. M. With the rain moving into the eastern suburbs. Snow is getting into the metro area. That pattern continuing for several hours during the rush. By late morning, most of the snow will be north of washington. Everybody else gets rain and during the balance of the afternoon, the snow areas kick out to the east. All of whats left over in the metro area will be rain and that quickly will end as we head through the Late Afternoon and early evening hours. Of course, everybody wants to know how much . And this is what we think how much, maybe up to an inch of grassy area accumulations with roadways remaining wet throughout the rush hour and really through the day. Farther south you go, may see no flakes, just rain. Farther north and west as described, maybe a couple of inches on grassy areas. In the winter storm warning area, three to six inches a good bet at Higher Elevations and thats enough snow to cause disruptions to travel. Our timeline here begins around 5 00 a. M. Snow and then it mixes with rain. Eventually changes to rain and then comes to an end late in the day but the worst part of this is highs only 40 degrees. We will indeed make a nice turn around here for the day on saturday. Take a look. 59 degrees with partly cloudy skies on saturday. Turn a bit cooler by sunday in the upper 40s. Clouds on sunday. Sunshine and clouds, mid 40s on tuesday. Warm front goes through. Maybe get ourselves back in the mid to upper 50s by wednesday and thursday of next week. Well see. Will this be the last time we talk about snow this winter . We will find out. Leon go out on that limb again . Doug no, im not walking on that tightrope. Alison ok. Thank you. Doug all right. Police in houston say a man turned over the dog after it rode a bus by itself for more than 20 miles and then got off in the middle of downtown. He said he had boarded the 44 just like any other patron. I knew he belonged to somebody. Friendly little guy. Alison the vet said the dog is a little thin, a lot dirty and nursing a sore ear. Otherwise, doing just fine. Theyre reaching out over social media to try to reunite him with his family. Cute. Leon all right. 7 on your side tonight to get you some results.
