As the relatives tell me, the doctors wife remains in nebraska at this hour while family and friends are gathered justat home in maryland, one week ago these loved ones were celebrating because the initial tests came back negative. Now they are grieving and mourning together. Iirmly believe that this was a calling. Is the doctor back in april. The local surgeon was recently diagnosed with ebola in sierra leone and flew to nebraska for treatment over the weekend. This morning he passed away. Him, we hugged him. He loved his job. He lived in carrollton with his wife and is the second person to die of the disease in the u. S. His neighbor, a practicing nurse and fellow native of sierra leone, said that he was inspired by the doctor. When i heard that they flew him here for treatment i was excited. I was like wow. That is encouraging news. He left an extremely critical condition, the 10th patient to be treated in the state, the third at the nebraska medical center. Hospital officials said that he was perhaps the sickest of the mall. Thing broke out in my country the first thing that came to my mind, i wanted to go home and help. He went back home in april to help the people who were dying from ebola. Those who work in the medical industry described him not only as a loved one, but a mentor. He went out of his way to take care of my stepfather back home. The doctor loses his battle with ebola after being in a biocontainment unit for only two days. He is survived by his wife, who again lives in New Carrollton and their two children, a 12yearold and 20yearold. John gonzalez, abc 7 news. Sad story there. Students are on alert after an attack right near the university of maryland. Police are still looking for the man who they say tried to abduct a young woman there. Jeanette reyes is there with more on how that woman was able to get away. Jeanette . The student was doing something that we have all done, nothing out of the ordinary or risky. County police say that she was in her car, was just parking, in fact. She was on hardwick road near the university. The man approached her from behind, grabbed her around the neck, and said you are coming with me. She said that she managed to break free and she ran off. That man is still on the loose this afternoon. I spoke to another student who said she knew how frightening it was to be a victim of a similar crime and was not surprised that this happened here. Now Prince Williams County Police are searching for a suspect after shooting that killed a 19yearold man and injured a 15yearold boy. Prince Williams County police told abc 7 news early on sunday morning that 19yearold Christopher Weaver and the 15yearold were shot in this woodbridge culdesac. Weaver was taken to the hospital, where he died. [indiscernible] they do something about it. The gunfire rang out just one week after 16yearold rendon ,ilson, also a woodbridge teen was shot and killed in what police say was a drug deal gone bad. Police say that they now have five people in custody for wrongful death. A 16yearold girl and juvenileld boy at a Detention Center are facing conspiracy charges. The younger ones, out of the street.
