But the 35yearold prosecutor who charged them told me their arrest is the first step to rebuilding trust between police and the poor communities here. This is a moment. Rice is charged with Involuntary Manslaughter and three other offenses. Officers miller and nero each face charges of Second Degree assault and two other offenses. Officer William Porter and Sergeant Alicia white, who was just promoted, face charges of Involuntary Manslaughter, among others, and are both accused of not giving gray medical attention. A scenario some see as unethical, perhaps misconduct, but difficult to prove as murder and manslaughter.
