destruction as it fell. let's get right to linzie janis. >> reporter: tonight, officials looking at what caused a cable to snap sending an air conditioner smashing to the ground. sending debris raining onto madison avenue. >> i looked out the window the street was not visible. it was like a bomb hit. >> reporter: filming the after aftermath. >> thank god this incident occurred at an hour of the day, on a weekend when not too many people were around. >> reporter: new york city has a history of deadly crane accidents. in 2008 a crane came crashing down flattening a townhouse and killing seven people. people in this neighborhood tell us they're shaken up. crews working to clear the destruction as it's pouring rain. and the city vowing to find out what happened. in texas tonight, they're breathing a little easier. for the first time in a week there is no rain forecast. but take a look at this cowboys herding cattle as the river continues to rise. now, the troubling weather on the move. a tornado touching down in indianapolis. and winds clocking up to 90 miles per hour. and tonight, the east on the alert. rob marciano in dallas tonight with the forecast. rob? >> tom the road behind me is flooded. a lot of that happening, and the rain is moving northeast. it's raining heavily along the i-95 corridor. and this push will stall out. it's a two and in some cases three-day event east of the mississippi river. we could see one to three inches of rainfall and that could cause flash flooding in new york new jersey and connecticut. and good news, in texas, at least one more
