This location is not very secure. I have reported lights out before. The police need to probably step up their presence, if that is an issue. A week of adjustments for riders and drivers. The workweek started with confusion and chaos at the ballston station as riders on orange and silver lines ease into new commuting habits. With more than 25 less riders on the rails west of the singletracking at ballston, the traffic quickly jammed on the roads. I did not expect it to be this long. It was definitely excruciating. Brianne that work to replace that section of track continues until next thursday. Then the first station shutdowns begin. For 16 days, potomac avenue and stadium armory stations will be closed. In addition there will be no rails and no bus service between Arlington Cemetery and rosslyn station. Until further notice riders on orange, blue, silver wont see 7000series rail cars. Scott it crashed last june after he and his friends were at a party and had been drinking. But some say the punishment is too lenient. Kevin lewis has more from rockville. Kevin samuel ellis faced up to 20 years in prison. Prosecutors were begging for at least 12 years but after a fourhour long sentencing hearing, Montgomery CountyCircuit Court judge Robert Greenberg sentenced ellis to four years in prison with the possibility of parole after only one year. Prosecutors and the families of both young male victims were certainly taken aback. For one, ellis had four previous runins with police for drug possession, alcohol possession, drunken fighting and public intoxication. But the 19yearold had also made some jailhouse phone calls recently ahead of sentencing during which he bragged about writing a somebody story apology to sway the judge. In another phone call he complained about being locked up, saying he wanted to be at the beach having a, lit good time. The general consensus is that samuel ellis got off easy. I would say that is too lenient only because of his priors, with the possession with intent, this that and the third. I dont think it does any justice. Two young men were killed. I think he should have received appropriate sentence for that. I think he probably should have been reprimanded stronger than what ended up happening because of the intent and the evidence they found him saying blatantly this is what i did. I should be somewhere else right now. That is not okay. Kevin we did contact judge greenbergs chambers today seeking a comment.
