Its wjz, marylands news station. It is the top of the hour, and what started out as steamy has turned into stormy in a lot of this area. Kristys got traffic after martys first warning weather. Its turned into a real storm in the past 5 minutes. Before we put the radar in motion and zoom in on something, heres the current active Severe Weather alerts. For eastern Baltimore County, Harford CountySevere Thunderstorm Warning until 6 45. For central Harford County until 6 30 we have a Tornado Warning in effect. Now what i want to do is focus in on one particular area here. This would be central Harford County just southeast of bel air. And that is going to be one heavy duty cell of rain, and i think this may be, you know, just a little west of crazy well. Little west of crazy what were talking about here with concern about rotation. This is where thunderstorms started meandering across the area here just as we were coming on the air. Theyve also dropped enough rain that we also have for portions of Baltimore County, the Northwest Side of the beltway a Flash Flood Warning in effect until 8 45. Some of the tributaries that run through Mount Washington and for Harford County until about 8 45. What we really want to talk about right now is the Severe Thunderstorm Warning which would be exiting Baltimore County now, the Severe Thunderstorm Warning for all of Harford County and again for central Harford County theres a Tornado Warning in effect until about 6 30. Hi again, hi everyone. Some trouble in the aberdeen area. We have car fire reported there. On custis drive. As far as the rest of the region goes, 95 southbound you will see bright lights there as you make your approach to the beltway on the northeast corner. Theres a look at your overall speeds around the beltway and 70 moving well this morning, no problems to report so far. Lets take a live look, we have more activity there, 95 just south of 543 in the Harford County area. Now for more of the stories people are talking about heres don. A murder for hire trial in Baltimore County is in the hands of a jury. Mike schuh has the story. Good morning don, good morning everyone. In just a few hours, the jury will begin its first full day of deliberations. At first karla porter blamed the 2010 murder of her husband on an armed robber, not the hitman she now admits she hired to kill him. Have you ever seen him before . No. Porter repeated lies to police after the murder but eventually confessed during this taped interrogation. The Baltimore County woman admitted she enlisted the help of several people including family members to hire the triggerman Walter Bishop who fired the fatal shots inside the hess gas station the couple owned together. Tion the couple what happened karla . He was just being really mean over the past few days. During trial porter told jurors she endured years of verbal, physical and psychological abuse. During closing arguments her attorney told jurors she planned his murder in self defense saying the abuse escalated to the point where karla porter in her own mind felt the fear of danger or serious bodily harm was imminent. Prosecutors paint a different tale saying porter is lying about the abuse and has had three and a half years to come up with the most offensive stories she could have come up with about her husband. John cox says porter, even if everything she said is true it doesnt excuse what she has done. Porter is the last of five coconspirators to go on trial. The hitman is already in jail. Thank you very much mike. The jury will begin its first full day of deliberations today. If porters convicted prosecutors will seek a sentence of life without the possibility of patrol. The traveling hospital technician charged with infecting patients with hepatitis c in several states including maryland has reached a plea deal with prosecutors. David key cow ski is said to plead guilty. He has hepatitis c and injected himself with painkiller syringes and replaced the drug with saline solution talk abouted with his blood. Thats how he infected four dozen patients patients with the deadly liver disease. The red cross is stepping in to help vacationers who lost their belongings when a resort near disney world fell into a sinkhole. 1 3 of a 3story building crumbled into the 50foot wide hole. More than 100 guests got out of the building safely. One woman who had just checked in with her 3yearold son felt the building begin to shake. The building twisted initially, and then started crumbling. Windows were exploding. Sink holes are common in florida. Theyre created when a layer of limestone beneath the soil is washed away by water. The developer says testing done before this resort was built 15 years ago showed the ground was stable. Four teenagers have been arrested in connection and are facing attempted murder charges. The attack stunned residents and now its prompting action. What will the walk look like . Also in this city, the controversial Harbor Point Development deal is one step closer to being approved this morning. This after the City Council Gave preliminary approval to the 107 million in Public Financing for the project, which will be built along the waterfront of fells point and harbor east. Theyve been trying to stop the city from giving public money to the developer. The mayor argues it will bring 20 million a year in taxes to the city. Heres first warning doppler weather radar, want to put it in motion. About 4 30 some strong thunderstorms started moving across the region. We have a Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect for Harford County until 6 45, but the bigger issue right now is a Tornado Warning in effect for central and this is about the best we can narrow it down, for central Harford County slightly north of aberdeen just to the west of halve degran grace and to the east of churchill. This is a cell were watching closely for some potential rotation. Its a very warm, humid and unstable morning, and at a minimum, youre looking at really heavy rain right now in central Harford County. Again, you start looking at pigger picture and you can see Bigger Picture and you can see this part of a bigger thunderstorm rumbling right up the i95 corridor. Now, for Baltimore County and for Harford County when it comes to rain having fallen, we have a Flash Flood Warning in effect through 8 45. And as i widen the radar out even more, you can see a bigger slug of moisture sitting out to the west. Thats going to be a couple of inches of rain thats going to fall between now and 3 00 this afternoon. But having said that, our biggest concern right now is central Harford County. I want to go over here just southwest near charlestown maryland and that is some pretty darn heavy rain falling. So central Harford County, lets triangulate this between churchill, aberdeen, darlington and Havre De Grace. Stay alert for the next 15 minutes. Don take it away. Its a humid, warm and unstable morning and we are looking at some really heavy duty weather right now in Harford County, thunderstorms started meandering across the area at about 4 30 this morning the now were exceptionally concerned about an area in central Harford County that has a Tornado Warning in effect for about another 12 minutes. Theres a Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect through 6 45 and its this one particular area between pore deposit, churchville aberdeen and Havre De Grace that has our attention. This is some of the heavier rain that our Doppler Radar is going to be able to track, and this is kind of moving sprightly in a northeast direction. Whether theres circulation or not that remains to be seen. Its certainly going to be port deposit, and Havre De Grace and south. Lets widen this out and show you the extent of Severe Weather through Harford County. This will be moving into cecil county before too long. Im pretty sure were going to be adding cecil county into this discussion. For Harford County and Baltimore County through about 8 45 we have a Flood Warning in effect for rain thats already fallen, and theres a flood watch area wide in effect for rain that is going to fall between now and about 3 00. Look at that slug of moisture to the west. I want to go into Carroll County right now. That is going to be a thunderstorm. We have no severe notety notifications for Carroll County at this time. Approaching westminster, silver run and manchester that has got to be a rather zesty thunderstorm itself. Lets go right into central Harford County and take a look at a pretty heavy thunderstorm thats now slowly moving up the 95 corridor and before not too long, if not already, approaching parts of cecil county. Forecast today after we look at a high of 75 degrees, 90 humidity. This afternoon the this action frankly just popped up on us about an hour hour and a half ago. The beltway, on the west side outer loop delays stretching from 70 to Baltimore National pike. On the outer loop from 83 to 95, 55 Miles Per Hour average and 10 minutes to get through. Lets now take a live look as you can see we have some cars out there, but everything is moving right along there on the beltway at harford road. I know its kind of hard to see, but right there just north of Havre De Grace, ill zoom in on it, you can see it over perry point just to the west of perryville just to the immediate east of Havre De Grace, that is some real intensity inside of what is a rather intense cell, inside of what is a severe thunderstorm to say the least. And again, we have a Tornado Warning in effect for about another 9 minutes for Harford County. This could be extended into cecil county. Well get notification on that within about 9 minutes.
