A pedicab driver accused of raping a woman nearly two years ago is a free man tonight. A Volusia County jury took just 30 minutes to acquit george branard earlier today. Flagler county deputies say four crooks targeted two Hotel Parking lots. The thieves are still on the run tonight. Were told this all happened overnight on wednesday at the Holiday Inn Express and hampton in hotels right off i95 and state road 100 near palm coast. As news 6 reporter Troy Campbell shows us, deputies say this might be connected to similar recent crimes. The Flagler CountySheriffs Office says overnight wednesday, thieves targeted more than a dozen vehicles here at the hampton inn and the holiday inn, saying people came outside to find their belongings ransacked and broken glass on the ground. We were parked here an one evening the vehicles were both broken into. He says the two company were traveling in, targeted by thieves, smashed windows and missing items. I came out in the morning and two windows were broken on one and one on the other. So we just got them repaired. 18 vehicles with smashed windows, one of them stolen, later found in Volusia County. The Flagler CountySheriffs Office says the group of four thieves acted fast. Its a quick smash grab and go, coming up, smash the window, reach inside, whatever they see, they take and on their way to another car to another car to another car and they get out of there as quick as possible. Investigators say suitcases and purses were found nearby, the thieves taking what they want and discarding the rest. Investigators say the smash and grab possibly related to several others in volusia and brevard county. It showed us they were quick and recovered the things they needed to and discarded what they didnt. An update to a hitandrun case in brevard county. The woman convicted of hitting a boy with her suv and driving off is heading to prison. A judge sentenced Michelle Simpkins to 10 years in prison and five years probation. She hit 12yearold Thomas Gregory in 2014 while he was playing basketball outside of a cocoa beach home. The crash left the boy with two broken legs. He spent several months recovering. An odd scene along an Orange County sidewalk. Orlando police tell us a woman punched an officer who was just trying to help her. Were told an officer found Anna Bell Rayburn lying drunk on a appear washington street. It is the Second Attack on an officer in south florida in just two days. Prosecutors say in Northern California he was skiing at a closed off area in a resort and his ride caused an after valanche avalanche. Police say he put others at the resort in serious danger. The ongoing battle over red light cameras in florida is back again. State lawmakers are considering a bill that would ban the cameras statewide. Measure that would end the cameras. The bill was sponsored by a miami republican comes after the report from the department of Highway Safety and it found crashes with serious injuries increased 29 at intersections where the cameras were installed.
