One family in particular has quite a fascinating story that stems back to the 1930s. 3 in 1928 with big travel plans in mind julius and dorette fleischmann had the largest and most expensive personal yacht in america built. Called the camargo. They took a cruise around the world with a crew of 36. All them more than a year before they came back. Collecting a lot of artifacts along the way. There are shields, there are masts, theres tools anything you can think of they brought back. Also bringing back an abundance of photos. They hired professional photogrpaher amos burg to document their travels. And its a good thing they did because one part of their trip is particularly interesting. Its not everyday you help rescue castaways thats right. Bob says after leaving the panama canal they traveled onward to cocos island. When they got there they saw that some shacks had been built and they found a note tacked to a clothesline that there were three castaways who were shipwrecked and at that time they were on the other side of the island. So they called for the u. S. S. Navy. And the three shipwrecked men were saved. The fleischmanns dont just have the pictures to prove it.
