your saturday forecast. reporter it is such a beautiful view by day or by night. we are starting off with cloud cover this morning. but our winds are fairly light, about 5 to 10 Miles Per Hour winds right now. well bump it up a tiny bit into the afternoon. well keep most of the clouds through midmorning. late afternoon, midday well start to clear out. see some sunshine and that is going to help our temperatures spike quite a bit. southwest winds. so well pull out of the 20s and low 30s. hit the upper 30s to near 40 degrees later on this afternoon. i think for most of us you are going to enjoy not only our saturday temperatures but im tracking warmer air on the way for tomorrow with our super bowl sunday. you do know it is february so eventually the cold air will return. when the moisture hits us, we could be looking at accumulating snow. ill give you all the details when i join us next. we are going to start this morning. one person is dead following the fire on clevelands east side. it happened at a home on east 133rd street near union avenue just after 3 00. cleveland fire tells us the man was found on the second floor of the home and taken to a nearby hospital where he later died. no word yet on what caused this fire. more details for you later today right here on wkyc. the fbi is looking for someone they say is shining laser lights at planes near hopkins. there have been 25 incidents. reporter if there is not enough turbulence on your flight already it could get worse if your pilot has to deal with criminals shining lasers into the cockpit. the fbi tells us twice thursday someone flashed a laser light on a plane. it can cause them flash blindness, it can cause them to have some spotty looks. you know when you shine a light in your eye it can cause you to see spots. reporter the lasers could cause the pilots to diverted their flight. reporter it hasnt happened in our area but in other areas it has happened because of a laser strike. reporter we tested this laser. Er to show how much harm the small beam can do. at one foot away the beam is only a few millimeters wide. but the same beam is four times as wide 50 feet away uu two millimeter beams turned into a 6 footwide blinding light. it is even worse at night. seconds before you get your night vision back again. especially if you are a commercial pilot flying a jet moving very fast. it is not funny, it is not fun. it is very dangerous. reporter channel 3 news. very interesting information there. a sheriffs deputy shot and killed a man thursday night. the Sheriffs Office responded to a 911 call and the man house. they say he did not drop it when he was told to do so, one of the deputies shot the man. when deputies went inside the home they found a woman with severe stab wounds. she is in fair condition this morning. the first class of Cleveland Police cadets to receive training from the ohio state Highway Patrol is now almost halfway through that training. you recall the move to the columbusbased academy sparked and the police union. we wanted to see firsthand what the cadets are learning during their extended stay. Brandon Simmons has more on their story from columbus. reporter each day for clevelands newest Police Cadets starts with a little physical training. a Residential Academy with a strong academic focus in a paramilitary setting. reporter theyll start that day this way for the next 28 weeks. they can focus on academics, operations on training as opposed to some things that might distract them if they would to take care of other obligations at home. 46 sleep here monday through friday. the rules here are strict. reporter this as we showcase the trainees, equates to seeing a weapon or not seeing a weapon. perceiving a threat, not perceiving a threat. reporter over the 4month period students spend time learning the law and more importantly, how to be professional. they also spend plenty of time getting in shape and building camaraderie. reporter the move to columbus wasnt without controversy. the Cleveland Police union argued against it from day one, saying clevelands academy was better suited for the job. it allows clevelands academy time to provide additional training for veteran officers. a judge agreed. the Highway Patrol is focused on providing proper training. we are not concerned troopers officers from other agencies or cleveland. they all receive the same basic reporter in just a couple of months cleveland should have 46 new, well trained officers. in columbus, Brandon Simmons, channel 3 news. reporter the recruits will have an additional 4 to 8 weeks of training back here in cleveland. theyll graduate in may and should be working side by side with veteran Police Officers when the rnc kicks off in july. we are three days from the New Hampshire primary and it is full steam ahead. Jenniferhasbeenarehasbeen. hanrahan. reporter how concerned should we be about this here in ohio . i know it has been happening for quite some time now, but it is new to the americas . how concerned should we be . fortunately, we dont have the mosquitoes that carry the zika virus but people travel to areas, including the southern likely will be some cases here. but we probably wont have a large outbreak. reporter is this a potentially deadly virus . what are the symptoms here . reporter 80 of the people who get this infection dont have any symptoms at all. most people will have a mild viral illness, there may be rash, conjunctivitis, fever, muscle aches. the problem is there have been birth defects linked with zika virus. everyone has heard of micro encephally. reporter weve heard about florida too, recently, emergencies being declared there. should we be concerned if we travel to florida . i think one of the things people have to keep in mind is these same mosquitoes carry a lot of viruses. other infections people can get and it is just a really good idea to wear mosquito repellant there is directions that tell you how long it lasts and sense. reporter we know pregnant women should be concerned but their children . a lot of people are asking about whether their kids should travel to these areas. i think you should use your judgment and know whether to reapply the repellant. just ahead, preparations for a new construction project is causing closures downtown. how you can avoid the traffic headaches, coming up. we are on tap for a very nice weekend across the Cleveland Metro area. we are seeing cloud cover this morning but i guarantee you, youll get sunshine later on today. grab sunglasses as you are heading out. temperatures with the help of the southerly winds gel going to be pushing on up. ill let you know what to expect for the second half of we are about a month away from construction projection in downtown cleveland but the road closures have already started.
