We actually saw a crew out surveying a nearby bridge to make sure it wasnt damage as the heavy rain continued throughout the day around here. On a tip we received about a flood in rural polk county. Difficult. Dot posted a sign road closed. We found these cones but couldnt immediately see why. Just up the road, a major mud and rock slide. Limbs covering the road as rain ter ran off the road and the mountain. Within 30 minutes, a dot crew showed up. County maintenance engineer with the Highway Division assessed the damage. It just came down. Kim he says the damage by erosion on the road on the other side could cost more than 100,000 to repair. You cant really repair anything until the water goes down. This is the worst one weve had. Kim across the counties, creeks are full. Its happened once before. Now its happening again. Theres a lot of land moving. Engineer tells me that they are documenting any kind of damage across the county to make sure that if they have that information they can then submit it for possible federal money for reimbursement as they begin these potentially expensive repairs. This road is causing some in the area to worry. By late in the afternoon, the rain stopped pouring. Remains from this mornings heavy showers can still be found in some parts of greenville county. Like here on Warehouse Court submerged this highly traveled road. Tollbert says he was concerned when the rain began to fall but he says its not unusual for about half a foot of water or more. He says it could have been much worse. It had been worse than what it is now. It has come up halfway in to the backyard. Reporter the water may seem calm and shallow but the mystery of what lies beneath the surface is what has him worried. I dont see how you can get in there without drowning your car or running over something. You dont know whats in there. Reporter Warehouse Court is a twoway road. Two cars passing by each other could also pose a threat. Blind. Reporter theres at least half a foot of water on this road. But it is still open. People should not go on this road or any road for that matter if you cannot see the bottom of it. One to two inches of water could cause your car to go off the road. Darren botelho, news 13. Tuesday morning, i would have water at the top of my head. That is exactly the situation justin tieg literally jumped in to. This neighborhood off of Swannanoa River is still night no one slept through. Water still hasnt subsided. A glimpse of the danger that came so close. Its just all a blur. Hope justin tieg was up at 2 00 a. M. Scrambling with his neighbors to get to higher ground. The water was up and within 30 minutes this water had risen 5, 6 feet. Hope thats when he saw a woman in her car below driving through kneedeep water. At first i thought they were passing through the water. Then i heard the screams for help. Hope the water wasas colder than he thought and more deeper. I swam to her where it was more shallow. She started to get outside of the car and i just helped her. Hope everyone made it out safely. The driver declined to talk to us. Car. Justin says hes thankful he was there even if he did just the opposite of what those First Responders advise. If i were to do it again i would analyze the situation, remain calm. See where there was more shallow entry in to the water. Now he stands accused of Authorities Say watkins suspected one of the boys was involved in a recent burglaries of his home. Investigators are still looking for the bodies. Tammy five people are killed in a wrong way crash in miami. It happened on i95. A pickup truck was traveling in the wrong direction when it collided with several other cars. Two people were hospitalized with unknown injuries. Several lanes were shut down as authorities investigated. Four onduty secret Service Agents were involved in a crash in new hampshire. A man was traveling on route 16 when he crossed the dividing line. His car then collided headon with a vehicle carrying the secret Service Agents. The driver of the car was killed. The agents suffered nonlife threatening injuries. Investigators would not say who jaclyn, an earlier wreck is tying up traffic. Those in todays program were excited to learn. One thing we like about this center is it brings animals that are indigenous to this region, to the appalachian region, in to the center.
