Nationwide. Battle lines being drawn here in ohio. Democrats and republicans are fighting for those votes in the buckeye state. Both Democratic Candidates speaking during a dinner tonight in columbus trying to sway the undecided. We begin our Team Coverage now live in columbus. Plenty of big names there. You Better Believe it, mike. It is very quiet in this room right now. But just a few hours ago, more than 3,000 people were here, all coming out to support their particular candidate. Of course the battle lines were drawn inside this room as well. Hillary supporters and bernie supporters. But this was a toetotoe match the Old Fashioned way. The legacy message tonight for ohio democrats is unity. The american people, working people, young people want in to the political process. I spent my career fighting to even the odds for people who have had those odds stacked against them. Ohio Democratic Leaders said they want supporters of both secretary clinton and senator sanders to feel like this is their party. And their aimed their message directly at one republican target in particular, donald trump. We can criticize and protest mr. Trump all we want. But none of that matters if we dont also show up at the polls. [cheering] the campaign is about ending a corrupt Campaign Finance system that allows billionaires to buy elections. Among other big names here tonight civil rights leader Jesse Jackson who says he remains neutral, has not made an endorsement. Another familiar face in the and clinton supporter, jerry springer. If the Democratic Leaders were hoping to fire up the troops for tuesdays political fight, its safe to say they did just that. Theres been a question about whether there is enthusiasm on our side as well as their side. I think it proves that in ohio we have the energy to make sure we hold on to the presidency. You know we saw a lot of familiar faces from the Greater Cincinnati area here, a lot of political leaders from that area, and also some community leaders. Bishop bobby hilton gave the invocation before the 3,000 people here. If youre wondering how much it costs to get in here, some paid as much as 5,000 for a package of four. Today donald trump held a rally in butler county. Wlwt news 5s john london was there as the republican frontrunner rallied an enthusiastic crowd. With polls showing a virtual dead heat in ohio donald trump came to westchester sunday afternoon. Fresh from calling john kasich a baby, after being accused of creating a toxic environment at trump rallies. Not going to do the job, okay, not going to do the job. We have so many problems with this country. The lone disruption was by two infiltrators who waited hours to provide trump with arguably his best line of the night once they were escorted out. We might have a couple more anybody else want to stand up right now . Trump is undeniabley a thumbs up showman. His most significant star moment yet might be a mere 48 hours from now as he tries for a knockout blow to team kasich primary. Trump loyalists say the people have picked trump. The politicians have picked kasich, whose backers are sweating todays cruz rally in columbus, sensing its a way to siphon votes from kasich and create a twocandidate race after tuesday. Just got word tonight pete rose sent donald trump a signed baseball. Protesters were just as enthusiastic as Trump Supporters at the trump town hall event. Fight for america [beep] [beep] both very vocal and passionate about where they im totally against him and everything that he stands for. At one point, Trump Supporters set off their car alarms to try and drowned out the protesters who were kept in a taped off area. Theyre just missing the point. Theyre not seeing the bigger picture. What they are seeing, protesters say, is hate in donald trump. Its not what our American Values are about and not what america is founded on. Hes trying to build walls between people that should be allowed to come here. You cant kick people out based on the color of their skin. On the flip side. Supporters say they were energized after listening to trump speak here in westchester today. He knows how to deal with people. We havent had a president in a long time that knows how to deal. What i really like is he is not in anybodys back pocket. He is running on his own merit and finances and cant be bought off. He tells the truth. He tells it like it is. Were told overall, all things considered, it was pretty peaceful. The dangers that exist in our country exist between donald trump and his people and whether or not i show up at a rally and try to do something you see that there is violence. For the first time we hear from that ohio student accused of trying to jump on stage during trumps rally just outside of dayton. 22yearold thomas demasamo is a student at wright university. Secret Service Agents there rushing the stage after he made his way up there. Says he had no intention of harming anyone. Just wanted to send a strong message. I was thinking that i could get up on stage and take his podium away from him. And take his mic away from him and send a message to all people out in the country. We can be strong. We can find our strength. We can stand up against donald trump. He is charged with inducing panic and disorderly conduct. Trump accused him of having ties to isis, which the 22yearold firmly denies. Meanwhile, a new nbc news poll showing donald trump with more than a 20point edge in the state of florida. Governor kasich in last there according to this poll. Trump is also looking good in illinois despite his chicago rally being essentially shut down by protesters friday night. Governor kasich running in third in that poll. Here in ohio, governor kasich on top right now according to nbc, 39 to 33 over donald trump. As for the democrats Hillary Clinton leading Bernie Sanders in all four states that vote on tuesday night including here in ohio where she has about a 20point advantage. Her lead in illinois is much smaller. Only six points. Well, we are in the final stretch for early voting here in ohio. Tomorrow the last day to cast your ballot early. Today area churches encouraging members to get out for the souls to the polls event which wrapped up at 5 00. Tomorrow is the last day for early voting at the board of elections. We see just a couple spotty showers this evening. For the most part its been dry on the radar. The concern changes over to weve had the rainfall onethird to twothirds inch. Our concern is changing over now to some fog. We have dense fog in spots right now. Visibility less than a mile. Well see fog through the overnight. In other news tonight a couples sunday breakfast interrupted. What they saw right before part of their Apartment Building roof came tumbling downment only on wlwt. Two local families asking for answers after two men are killed on the same street less their message to the killers. It took Joel Silverman years to become a master dog trainer. Wlwt news 5 was in springfield township earlier with the fight to find those very important answers. The two families came together with one mission. Get justice. They handed out these flyers you see in my hand hoping that somebody would speak up and say something. Whoever it is, its just hard. It really is. Fighting back tears, fighting for justice. Our children matter. I miss mine. I know they miss theirs. See something say something. You can speak for me. Family and friends want killers caught. Two men were murdered on the same road a few weeks apart in springfield township. It is very, very unfortunate for all of our family, talking about somebody who really didnt have a chance to experience life and just really, really an innocent victim of another senseless crime. Charles murk was just 18 years old last september. His mom says a man knocked on the door then shot him in the face. We all wish our children would bury us and it is not do this. Weeks later in october, outside a bar. Police say two men tried to rob him when he was shot. They tried to rob him and the only thing they got from him was a watch and a chain, which was really i think senseless. They lit up the candles to will ever fill the void. Its been real hard. Its been really a struggle. If he had it and you asked him for it, you know, he would give it to you. Of young man. He didnt get a chance to leave a mark on the world. One victim left behind a daughter and murk was about to be a student at the university of cincinnati. Thank you. Right now police are investigating after a man was found shot to death at a gas station. They responded to the 3400 block of burnet block in tonight. Police say the man was in a car at a gas pump and identified him as an africanamerican man in his 20s. Homicide investigators are currently going over the scene and waiting for the coroner. Now. Died after being shot outside Police Department headquarters in hyattsville just northeast of washington, d. C. Deputies say the shooting happened around 5 00 this evening. No other injuries reported. Two suspects are in custody in connection with the incident. Right now no word on a motive. New developments after an attack on a resort town in ivory coast. There are now reports that al qaeda has claimed responsibility. 16 people including two soldiers were killed in the violence. Officials say six attackers opened fire on beach goers at the popular resort. The u. S. State department is saying no americans are known to be dead or hurt. Four europeans were killed. In turkey, 27 people dead after an explosion there. Video from the scene shows damaged cars, injured people being rushed away. Another 75 were wounded in that blast. The explosion is believed to be caused by a car bomb that wen off close to several bus stops. Clifton area as part of a building comes crashing down. It happened at an Apartment Building at ludlow and middleton. Police say part of the roof gave way about 1 00 this afternoon and everything under it just collapsed. We spoke with a couple who was sitting on their front porch at the time. They say they heard some creeking, arkansas dust fall, then the sudden collapse. Basically made sure nothing else was going to happen and i got up and said, laurie weerks got to get out of here. I kind of made sure she was okay and we got off the porch. The couple telling us tonight they did not notice any problems with the building before the roof collapsed. No one was hurt in the incident. Well start with a time lapse from the weather camera here in mount auburn looking into downtown. This is 4 00 this afternoon. You can barely see one mile. We had the fog in place. The fog and the clouds lift up. We actually had a really nice evening. A couple sprinkles since then but the rain is coming to an end and the damp day ending by around 4 00 and 5 00 this afternoon. Now we have dry conditions as we start off our overnight. Downtown visibility is pretty high. Look at our wlwt radar showing the widespread showers have all lifted north. We have a couple light sprinkles left over. We may see a shower clip the extreme northeast counties, you can see Activity Holding for central indiana. The rest of us likely a pretty quiet and dry overnight. Satellite and radar combined showing the showers lifting off to the north. We have partly cloudy skies in place right now. We will keep it that way through the night with the exception of the concern for fog. We do have a couple spots reporting visibility between zero and a half mile. So depending on your location through the night some patchy, dense fog will be a problem. 60 degrees right now. Notice the temperature very close to the dew point for a high humidity. Locations with light winds able to develop fog at the international airport. Visibility is up at 10 miles because of the south winds staying high at 7 miles an hour. Satellite and radar showing the widespread area of rain for us earlier lifting up across the great lakes. A little quiet sun now across kentucky and then you get into the thunderstorms and strong storms coming out of arkansas. This is an upper level system that is going to track across tennessee tonight heading our way for tomorrow. It will not have the storm component with it tomorrow when it arrives for us. I think well see some embedded storms but it is mainly going to be midday and afternoon rain showers. Heres our future cast with a pretty quiet overnight expected excluding a sprinkle, shower, and some fog. As you make it into tomorrow morning the upper level system overhead will bring back a band of rain by the midday. Itll last through the afternoon. A few embedded thunderstorms or downpours a possibility as it weakens and slides off to the east. We will dry up by late on monday night and it should be dry into early on tuesday. The future cast during the day commuters before 7 00 and 8 00. The fog you have to deal with i dont think well have any morning. Here comes the rain band by the afternoon. At times. In. Scattered showers continue into the evening and then we dry out by late monday evening and for the overnight. Future cast heading into tuesday. That system moves out. Our next one not here yet as we start off tuesday. A nice south flow ahead of that cold front and so temperatures warm nicely. The day looks dry. 70s. With that southerly flow, also the dew points edging up. And so as it gets closer for tuesday evening we do have the potential for late evening strong. A slight risk for severe weather. Were on the Southeast Side of it. May be some damaging winds. Well watch for that potential late on tuesday. 57 a low tonight. Overnight fog patchy and dense tomorrow morning. We start off in the 50s and end up at 66 in the afternoon as showers return. 74 and dry during the day on tuesday. Late evening storms. Thats our warmest day. New developments tonight after a School Suspends a seventh grade boy for staring at a girl. A Cincinnati Appeals Court rejected the lawsuit that the parents filed on behalf of their son. The parents sued the archdiocese of cincinnati saying it did not properly investigate the incident at st. Gabriels. Time is running out to claim the 2012 tax refunds. The i. R. S. Says nearly a billion dollars is still unclaimed. You have until this years april 18, the federal filing date, to submit your 2012 tax returns. About a million americans havent done that yet.
