Morning, the Associated Press declared that republican chris sununu won the race for governor here in New Hampshire, edging out Colin Van Ostern. Erin the senate race between kelly ayotte and Maggie Hassan is neckandneck, and too close to call at this point. There are about 1500 votes separating the two. The first Congressional District was just called within the last hour or so. Carol sheaporter is headed back to washington after beating incumbent frank guinta. The second Congressional District was the first race to with annie kuster claiming victory just before 1 00 this morning. Sean too close to call was the catch phrase for the evening. We will have a closer look at each race in just a moment but first, lets check the forecast with kevin skarupa. Kevin 60s yesterday. Likely low and mid 50s today. Sean and the governors race went right down to the wire. But early this morning, republican chris sununu claimed the victory over democrat Colin Van Ostern. Erin wmurs ray brewer is following this race, and he joins us now live from the statehouse in concord, where too close to call this morning. Right now, the incumbent, kelly ayotte, has a very slim lead over governor Maggie Hassan. They are separated by about 1500 votes. Sean wmurs Siobhan Lopez is watching this race for us now and joins us in the studio. Siobhan this race was expected to come down to wire, as the two candidates were neckandneck all evening. And when it comes to who is in the lead this morning, it pension ask. Democratic challenger governor Maggie Hassan addressing her supporters early this morning after midnight, telling them that her campaign tracked show a 5300 vote lead over kelly ayotte. Gov. Hassan we all knew that this was going to be close. And while we are feeling good right now, this race is still too close to call. Siobohan the governor went on to tell her supporters to go home and get some rest, and hoped to deliver good news this morning. And also late last night, senator kelly ayotte addressed a cheerful room of her supporters before the votes began to tip in after her speech, the incumbent says shes gone through tight races before. Sen. Ayotte i had a primary like that in 2010. And i am upbeat. But, again, every vote matters, so we will be counting them all. Siobhan last night, senator ayotte told her supporters she would wait until later today to make an announcement about the Election Results. The race for New Hampshires first Congressional District was just decided around 4 00 this morning. Erin carol sheaporter is going back to washington. She defeated republican incumbent frank guinta in the fourth matchup for the two. Shawn oconnor was a distant third. Sheaporter has already served three terms in the past representing the first Congressional District. Rep. Sheaporter we feel confident. So i want to [laughter] every who has worked so hard for this. Sean congresswoman annie kuster is heading back to washington for a third term in a row representing New Hampshires second Congressional District. She narrowly defeated republican challenger jim lawrence. Kuster is the first woman to serve three terms in the district that serves the western and northern parts of the state. Erin one of the big National Storylines coming into this election was which party would control congress, and this morning republs sean that is right. In the senate, you can see the gop with 51 seats, the democrats with 45 seats, providing a narrow majority for the republicans. And in the house, the democrats gained a few seats, but not enough to take over, with republicans extending their sixyear lock on that chamber. Erin the second Congressional District was the first race to be declared in New Hampshire, with annie kustecl victory just before 1 00 this morning. Sean and here to break down some of these races, a familiar face, former political director scott spradling. A lot of folks went to bed not knowing what is going to happen. Were they surprised . Scott absolutely. A lot of the battleground states and New Hampshire polls suggested a very different outcome than what we saw. The big question is, what group of voters that supported republican candidates that did not participate in polls, that did not answer the phone, lunch pail voters that showed up in big numbers yesterday and ended up shocking the world. Erin and of course he is the president elect, but in New Hampshire we have not declared a winner. There is only 300 votes separating the two. Scott it is remarkable watching how razor thin the is between republicans and democrats, between clinton and trump, twin payouts and ayotte and hassan. We see republicans controlling every aspect of state politics, but it looks possible all four of are members of congress will be democrats. Sean that is the big headline. The senate race is separated by 1500 votes. What happens now . Scott we wait for secretary of state bill gardner to give us official final numbers. There are a few holes, but significantly, as we wait is he results. We do not have them yet. We are also looking for strong republican towns like litchfield and pittsfield that are strong republican locations in the state that always turn out gop votes. If kelly has a mildly going in, but she has no keene numbers, this could tighten before us is over. I think we are headed for a recount. Sean sean as you know if you were out yesterday voter turnout was , very high across the country and here in the Granite State. Erin in fact, the New Hampshire secretary of state was predicting a record, and several towns saw record numbers including durham, where they hit up with several voters. Suzanne people lined up early to vote at broad Street Elementary School in nashua on tuesday. By 5 15, there were over 250 people in line, and they kept in line. Suzanne and they kept coming until the polls opened at 6 00 a. M. 357 people came through the ward in a half an hour. Suzanne chadwick has been moderator for nashuas ward one for the last 15 years. Shes never seen so many people come out to vote. She believes it is both the national and statewide races that brought them to the polls. New people coming to register. For the first time. It is a lot of young kids that are coming in here. It is their future. I have two brandnew babies, so i definitely want to make my voice heard and know they grow up in a country where everything is fair. Ask i am nervous about it. The choices were not the greatest. Today not quite starting that way, or even finishing it. We have plenty of clouds out there this morning. A couple of light showers stripping in from the west. There could be a couple of wet highways through the morning commute. A lot of the activity back to our west along the first of two fronts will be drying up by late morning, early will be a cooler day. Temperature statewide were in the 60s. Today, it is 40s up north. Cool air starting to add in out of the northwest later this evening. That will be around through tomorrow before the next front arrives. It gets even colder friday night and to start the weekend with a pretty good grades. A lot of this is going to try to bump into very dry air we have in place. We are not expecting a tremendous amount of activity out of this. But you will notice a certain across the state early to mid afternoon, and i suspect behind that, a few breaks in the overcast, especially for the northern half of the state. You will notice the second front, more of a break, with partial sunshine before that arrives. That will have a pretty good wind out of the northwest, feeding in cold air of the central canada. Temperatures in the 30s to lower 40s. We are looking for light showers early this morning in Western Areas of the state. You can see the gradual step ck the front that comes through friday morning is going to mean business. There will be a breeze out of the northwest at 515 mph through the afternoon. Most of the shower activity long gone by 1 00 this afternoon. Extra clouds in southeastern areas through later in the day, with maybe just a few breaks by the time we get through sunset. Partial sunshine to the north and west. Clearing skies in earnest with lows in the 20s and 30s overnight. Overnight. Tomorrow, we jumped back into the second front eventually arrives friday morning. North Country First with a couple of showers. In the afternoon, we see the winds pick up out of the northwest. Behind that will be the colder air that we will have around for the first half of the weekend. Today, temperatures making their way into the 50s in southern parts of the state. Maybe a shower around this morning in southern areas. A better chance out west end up north. A cooler breeze sets up for the afternoon. And 30s tonight, with partial clearing. It is cool air into saturday evening, and then we start to turn things around starting on sunday, with sunshine. We start to bounce back well into the 50s by monday and tuesday of next week. There could be milder air around for a good portion of next week as well. These salvos from Mother Nature coming out of canada for the time being, but nothing longlasting yet. Sean but bundle up for veterans day events. It will be a little chilly. Lets look at the major races the republican rode a late surge and won most of the key swing states in yesterdays elections. That gives the gop control of the white house and both chambers of congress. Now for a look at the governors race, lets check in with ray brewer. Ray for the first time in more than a decade, there will be a republican in the Corner Office here in concord. It was a tight race, but early this morning, chris sununu was declared the winner over Colin Van Ostern, the democratic challeng. Win the Corner Office since craig benson in 2002. He served the last three terms on the executive council. At 42 years old, chris sununu will become the youngest governor in the country. Now for a look at the u. S. Senate race here in New Hampshire, here is Siobhan Lopez. Siobhan it continues to be too close to call, the race for u. S. Senate here in New Hampshire. It is a tight one. The latest numbers show speaking to supporters late last night, she was optimisitic about the outcome, noting she went through a tight primary race back in 2010, and she plans to wait until later today to make any announcements about the results. And her challenger, governor Maggie Hassan telling supporters in a speech around 12 30 this morning that her campaign has calculated more than 90 of the votes cast in the state and they believe that they have to lead.
