Raising rates at a gradual pace because we are worried about inflation. You can parse the fed statement all you want. Its exactly that. They didnt rule out a march hike. Shame on them. If jobless claims spike again tomorrow want to know if the analog fed members are really ready to tighten again despite digital deflation everywhere. In fact, i thought the whole statement was downright hawkish and bad for workers. The fed still thinks inflation could be a problem despite the decline in oil which doesnt seem to take seriously and doesnt see a cessation in hiring. Good luck. Box made worse, dare i say they know nothing. Second. I want to see an end to political uncertainty. To that all i can say is its a lot worse out there. We have no idea who will win in the two democrats are running against wall street with capital as is the gop frontrunner donald trump who castigates Hedge Fund Managers for not paying their fair share. Hillary clinton and trump and Bernie Sanders want medicare to cram down big pharma by negotiating with the companies. Holy cow. Who wonder the biotech stocks are crushed. From the stock market perspective all candidates agree on policies that are bad for the financials and terrible for the drug companies. The better sanders does in the polls, the harder clinton has to run against the wealthy. Shes veering head on into the capital bashing lane. The uncertainty has only gotten worse since i create ed the checklist three weeks ago. Wanted china to get better. We were wrong. The data are weak and the china stock market is down below the 3,000 floor which now looks like we heard from apple that Greater China cell phone growth is slowing. Last summer it was still going. Fourth. We wanted a commodities bottom. The forecasts im seeing for the major commodities sees one more down leg coming especially for oil and and coal. Wonderful. Fifth, we saw iron go up today. We could be out of the woods when it comes to a decline to the teens judging by comments from haliburton and schlumberger. We could see a cut back in supply. What do the saudis hing . I will ask the ceo of core labs later but hes been bullish about the rapid recovery. Lets see whether he sticks by that. I think well see the mid 20s level again. A little bit above 30 before a real buy. We wanted to see geez political tensions die down down. Remember i came out with the list when it seemed north korea just detonated an hbomb. This box, all right. I feel better about that one. I dont want to get out a pen and mess it up. Ill get yelled at. But i will check it out. Ill do it in pencil and erase it if it comes back. Seven, i wanted Zombie Companies to be euthanized and reorganized. Now with the stressedout list of stocks, its funny. All the companies on the list get new life support from a temporary lift in fortunes. How about the chinese Zombie Companies . Those state owned enterprises are a buzz kill. So are valet and petrobras. Even spring free port was given life. The zombies live. Eighth item, i was cope ing the super strong dollar would run its course. When you listen to 3m, j and j its only gotten much worse since the fed tightened in september. Point would be that bad . We did. You have to think apple or procter could ride double digit declines in europe but many of the emerging market currencies have gone from 10 to 40 . The fed seems indifferent to the trajectories even though it ultimately means layoffs here to keep sales and earnings up over there after the hit from currency translation. Nine, we need to see m a activity. We have Johnson Controls merging with tyco and a crane maker may not have gotten the chinese bid but thats a come down from the several trillion dollar m market this time last year. Ten, the ipo market. There is none. All the starving unicorning, companies that were supposed to be eagerly await, forget it. Nobody wants them. The brokers with fees, good luck making the numbers partners with no m a, no ipo, where will the fees come from to make the no wonder the financials cant get out of the way. Rate hikes, m a, something. Right now they have nothing. 11, the peaks. We are liking the adirondacks, the high peak region. There are too many. I believe we have seen auto peak, cell phone, housing peak. Well hear from pbg later and maybe they can argue. Apple didnt change my mind on cell phones. I only feel a little bit worse but i have something to say later. After the numbers from boeing today its a reasonable question to ask if aerospace or boeing has peaked but they were synonymous with aerospace. One of the strongest cycles out there. Egads. What is that . 12, i wanted to see Tech Leadership outside of facebook, google, amazon. You have to get that soupy sales close. The leadership remains narrow and the decline after hours in the stock of service now which some people said we would be safe in is going to help the cloud cohort tomorrow, not at all. They will all get hit officer visnow. 13, i wanted sentiment to be horrendous. They were up and down and that brought out the bulls and optimists. We are barely over sold. A week ago we were dramatically over sold. No cushion from that. There isnt the revulsion and disgust we felt at this time last week. Thats too bad. I guess it has to get ugh ily again before we get to a safe er place. Finally i was praying to see something, anything to sig any anyway leadership than kroger or home depot. Before the fed spoke we had a shot. Kroger was at least higher. Bottom line is that we still have way too many unchecked boxes, way too many. Just when we thought the fed down again. March isnt off the table. We are back into a world of hurt here in stocks until we can start checking off the boxes. Until then keep cash on the sidelines, dont get too excited when the market rallies. The cavalry hasnt left the fort yet let alone being over the ridge ready to help those of us who circled the wagons around a few remaining good companies. Lets see. Dollar stops going higher, no, no. Oil stabilized. Political uncertain no. Oh, oh, oh. I feel better already. John in texas, john. Caller hello, jim. A san antonio booyah to you. I like san antonio. Its like venice. There is smuckers, hormel, snapon, campbells. These are the stocks treehouse. They are all working. Heres what we are going to do joyce in minnesota who probably knows the najarians. They hail from minnesota. We are going to wait for ugly days wherele oil goes down. They knock the stocks down and only then [ shotgun ] will they go higher. Richard in new york. Richard caller hello . Hi. Caller jim . This is richard from new york. Im 66. Im retired. I got rid of most of my oil holdings before they went flying down. However, i did keep c. O. P. And e. P. E. For dividends. Thats what i live off of are epd is the best in show. They can preserve it. They have good things cooking. That had to have a high dividend as opposed to a company thats overpaying distribution. Conoco phillips, they will do everything they can to defend the dividend. Thats not what we want to hear. We want to hear a company has no problem paying the dividend. There are many boxes unchecked but its nice to see this one. We are back in the world of pain so you can keep cash on deck and dont be complacent. Stay september call. On mad money tonight, i dont think oil is going back to 45 any time soon. Even as the averages went down today when the price of crude went up. Thats the exception not the rule. Given that oil seems to be punching above its weight in stock market. It is imperative to get the best understanding of the space we can get. We have heard from schlumberger and haliburton. That could mean a crude price might be bottoming, maybe this year. Today we hear from core labs known as the scientists of the oil patch because they use the technology to analyst rock and fluids in Oil Reservoirs so clients can find the best ways to drill. Even though the stock has fallen years ago the company has remained profitable. Core labs reported today a company delivered in line earn ings higher revenues and declined year over year. It is in the oil business. Manages guidance for the next quarter came in below what analysts aring looking for but it shrunk to share to a low and is doing better than new mexico every other company i follow in this area. Lets go to david demshur, the ceo of core labs. Welcome back to mad money. Hey, jim, thanks for having us back on mad money. When i read through the things you are doing i realize that the reason why drilling budgets have been able to produce far more oil than they used to is they have hired you to find out where the sweet spots are and you are the optimization they need to get the drilling budgets to produce the most oil. Help our clients produce more oil and gas every day. More importantly to produce more oil and gas from the assets they have. On average if you look at some of the unconventional play it is recovery factors are around 9 to 10 . We believele over time we can get it up to 12, 13, 15 . So although well see lower drilling activity, we might see higher productivity from the client that is use core laboratories. I felt it was really there was a line in your these guys are so transparent. I love it. You said in spite of the volatility in the First Quarter of 2015 you maintained a steady line of sales for the studies which were from private equitybacked companies. So there is still money waiting in the wings when these companies that are currently trading get challenged. Thats right, jim. Actually private equity is playing a large role now in the unconventional plays in north america. We have large databases available to them for a million they can get a plethora of data, understand the acreage quickly and find the sweet spot to collect acreage they can accumulate now for some companies that might have struggling balance sheets. Wow. Thats important. A lot of people are saying when will the cavalry come. We dont know. David, you were spot on in saying that on shore could decline. Obviously you dont control gulf of mexico. A lot of projects came on stream and made it so we produced more than we thought. When you were on last you thought maybe the saudis would stop overpumping, so to speak. It looks to me like we have been falling more because the saudis have been acting maybe they have a lot more oil than we realized or they can pump faster than we thought. They are down about 300,000 barrels. But the old pumping pretty much maximum rates. When we look at the decline curves worldwide at core laboratories we increased that from about 2. 5 net last year at this time. Net. On an 85 Million Dollar worldwide production base, next year at this time we have to produce 2. 6 million mu barrels to take the place of what the decline curve will take away from us. We find the globe having a very difficult time to do that and thats why we see crude oil markets balancing in the second half of 2016. Continued falls here in the u. S. And then also internationally, well see decreases in production as well. Absolutelile jay did it, but you laid it out. We know theyre fabulous. You said oil is going down because demand is weaker. Tell our audience how specifically you feel that way. Its laid out well in your release. If you look at it, a lot of the news flashes coming out of china are all suggesting that the economy is slowing and their ability to increase the crude Oil Consumption is going down. If you look at the numbers in the Fourth Quarter, you will see Strong Demand increases in china. Probably continuing into 2016. So on the demand side we feel pretty good about a 1. 2 million barrel a day rise in demand. Over the demand we had last year 2015 of 1. 7 million. So you put on the demand of 1. 2 million, a decline curve of 2. 6 million world wide and you can quickly get crude oil markets to balance in the second half of this year. If i listen to that, what i want to do is take off the table the january to march 1986 scenario wherele oil was at 26 and it went down to 10. You were in the business. Could it happen again somehow . It cant happen. Back then if we look at the over capacity around the globe it was today the Spare Capacity in the world is probably nearer to one or less than that. Without the Spare Capacity when demand bumps up against supply you will have a reaction in price. Up prices go and up go worldwide activity for Companies Like core laboratories. A lot of companies are determining how to preserve if not cut the dividend and have gotten away from the buyback. Thats not your style. No, its not. Good Companies Increase dividends. Stay tuned later this year to see what we can do about that. You are a good company. You have kept us straight on this issue. David demshur from core labs, great to see you, sir. Thanks for having us back on mad money. Look, its a tough group. There are Certain Company that is know what they are doing and core labs is one of them. Stay with cramer.
