Were trying to learn from this most unfortunate attack in in new york. Ernie youve seen a lot of changes, too. Theres a lot of new technology out there. This whole networking system has changed. Isnt that helping . Is it making a difference . Absolutely. Since 9 11, weve spent so many hundreds of millions of dollars in technology. In new york we have the ring of steel, thousands of cameras throughout the city focused on shooters or what have you. We have people that are analyzing emails, text messages, phone calls internationally. Thats all they do. Weve come a long way since 9 11. France has had their 9 11. This is their wakeup call. Im sure theyll be more proactive than reactive. Ernie how should new yorkers feel right now . Very comfortable, very proud that our new York City Police department, our fbi, has already thwarted a dozen of these very real potential attacks. And theyre continuing doing that hard work. We have 500 new Uniformed Police officers that are especially trained and have resources, equipment, weaponry, et cetera, to specifically target with this potential problem. They started last week.
