But the temperature is falling and some places will dip into the 40s. The cold air isnt going anywhere. No, its sticking around this weekend. Lets check in with Glenn Richards for the latest. Glenn brutal, isnt it . It is a big change. Live radar is looking good but we have big storms rumbling through earlier today, wind gusts, heavy downpours and one Tornado Warning in Volusia County. That quickly moved offshore without producing a tornado. We do have a freeze watch for tomorrow night in the zone right here but the cold air is already moving in. Look at these temperatures right now, the strong winds across the state at 61 in tampa. 57 here. But already down to 36 degrees currently up across the panhandle. Thats the colder air that will begin to move on through later tonight and through the entire weekend. 58 in leesburg. 56 in daytona. 52 back overgo gainesville. Here are your forecast lowes for tonight. 40 in gainesville. 46 in daytona. 48 downtown. With strong west winds morning will be in the 30s. Right now we do have mainly clear skies. 57, looks good here compared to this. Look at the heavy snow. Now extending from new york, washington, d. C. , beginning to ease up in cincinnati, and blizzard warnings, some areas looking at up to 30 inches of snow, and 50 Miles Per Hour winds later tonight and tomorrow. It is a mess up to the north. Lets get back to the blizzard thats bearing down on the northeast and it looks like its there. Glenn says they are expecting some big snowfall this weekend, the snow we anticipate is wet and heavy, which means we can expect to see downed trees and power lines. The winds are expected to be 30 miles an hour up to 50 miles an hour through saturday evening. In north carolina, crews are charlottes bank of america that is sundays nfc championship game between the panthers and arizona cardinals. Where you can watch the game . Right here on fox 35 sunday night 6 30 p. M. When last we checked in with our friend joel waldman, he was on his way to being the poster child for perma frost, and look at him now. Its deeper snow back there, and by. Whats the worst part . Is it the snow, how cold it is, is it the wind . What . Bob, first i have to thank you because you pointed out the right side of my face is getting more snow than the left side. The only problem, i couldnt feel it, so when i got back inside i took some necessary precautions like running hot water, but it is brutal and the reason the right side of my face is getting beat up is the wind is coming out of the east. Just in about the last hour or so, that wind has really whipped up, and that is exactly what and as much heat as meteorologists take, and one of my freds is in arizona, they were right on the mark on this one. Calling between 20 and 30 inches. The all time record dates back to 1922. They got about 28 and a half inches. But here forecasters are calling for perhaps a little more than 30 inches. We wont know that, of course, until tomorrow but theyre saying come tomorrow, we could see two inches of snow falling every hour, and those winds substantially stronger, bob. Bob of course, you and i talked it last time, this is hitting on a weekend so nobody really has anywhere they have to go. Have they just raided the Pantry Shelves of all the different supermarkets around the place . Everybody is going to ride it out for a couple days . I have to tell you, i moved down here from new york city about a year ago, and they handle snow a little bit differently up there. Two nights ago we got a clipper, a halfinch of snow. I decided to take might joes and that turned into about a three and a half hour ordeal. That was duly noted not to do again. So imagine what it could be like here with 30plus inches of snow. Theyre trying to get ahead of it in terms of salting the roads and plowing, but to be honest, there might be too much snow falling for them to catch up. Bob i do feel for you, my friend. This is not you drew the short straw on this assignment. Something needs to happen in orlando and ill come down there. Something positive. Bob yes, yes, please. You are always welcome. We will leave the light on for you. And a space heater. Good to talk to you, my friend. Thank you. And the blizzard causing problems, cancellations at Orlando International airport, the focus here in orlando. Keith landry live with a report on the flight delays and the cancellations. Good evening, keith. Reporter oia, you can see canceled, canceled, canceled. Big bright red is the color for here tonight. Airport officials telling us at least 77 flights were canceled in and out of iia tonight, and at least 100 were delayed coming in and out of central florida. Frankly, as that storm continues to roll up the east coast, things could be even worse tomorrow morning. The red eyes belong to tired travelers overwhelmed by a wave of delays and cancellations tonight. Some travelers take naps while they wait for others to arrive on delayed flights. Pedro and his family were trying to fly to washington, d. C. , today to get a connecting flight back to brazil, but that isnt going to happen. Because of the weather, the weather problem, we cant leave today. So they row located us for tomorrow, so we are going to chicago at 8 00. Big board morphed into a red board filled with flight delays and cancellations. Samantha almost flew out of orlando. We were going to charlotte, north carolina. What happened . Well, the flight was still on up until we got through security, and then it was canceled right after that. Jan flew in from charlotte and spent hours waiting for her sister, who spent today crisscrossing the eastern u. S. She started this morning in kentucky. First they directed her to dallasfort worth, and then they changed that this morning to send her to philadelphia, and then to my knowledge, to my knowledge miami. Now shes on her way. Check flight information before you try to fly out of the airport or if youre picking up a passenger. What happens now . Return on sunday and well get a flight back to charlotte. I hope nobody from up north would complain about that. Airport Officials Say if you dont absolutely need to fly immediately into these areas that are buried by snow, you can take advantage of the airlines rebooking features and just fly up there in a couple days, if you can do that. We are live at the airport, keith landry, fox 35 news. If you have to be stuck somewhere, orlando is not a bad place to be truck. Bob the property appraiser in Volusia County shutting down their office in Daytona Beach after complaints that homeless men got, well, aggressive with a worker at that office. Fox 35. Reporter Volusia County property appraiser says tensions county and the city of Daytona Beach after the city made the decision to close area parks. Last night the county actually voted to reopen that park. Then shortly thereafter, the city came back and closed the park again. Then this morning this happened. Back here. Headed toward her here. Volusia county property appraiser says a homeless man was aggressive towards a woman who works inside his office. That woman was scrambling to get her key card this morning to get inside the building, as a homeless man rushed up to her. Another employee saw what was happening and shouted out. He was so close at the time he heard her screaming that he turned around and when he turned around, he bumped her here. So there was contact. And thats not a circumstance that people need to have at work. That worker filed a complaint with the Daytona Beach police department. Act of intimidation. His employees are afraid to go in and out of the office. Thats hobo phobia. If we have bad apples, they need to be arrested and taken to jail. The homeless started hanging out outside the government building a few weeks ago after the city of Daytona Beach closed manatee island park. Organizations that help the homeless say it left them with nowhere to go. The mean spirited actions in ordering the parks to be closed. What theyre trying to do, its like squeezing a balloon. If you squeeze one side, it will come out the other. Basically this was like our last stand. Meantime, gilreath says even though police have been notified, hes taking the safety of his employees in his own hands. After a crime has occurred, police are investigating who bumped into the employee but have a vague description of the man. In terms of a solution, the county has offered up land and 4 million to build a 250 bed facility to accommodate the homeless in the area but the city is still looking for funding for operational costs. Meantime, the city is actually working with the Salvation Army to open up about 40 beds next week to alleviate the amount of People Living outside of that administration building. When we come back, a man on a mission. He is against the new sidewalk. Well hear more from the orlando man who collected more than 1,000 signatures asking the city not to put a sidewalk in his yard. In the same area here well have two right lanes closed. This is from i4 westbound on fairbanks all the way down to parr street. Use caution over the next week in this area and remember you can actually check out traffic and construction updates on your d bob the city of orlando want to be more pedestrian friendly. But one hasnt has more than 1,000 signatures. The battle over 90 feet. Heres the yard that bob hooks parents own on central avenue, a new sidewalk would lop off 20 of that yard. They deserve privacy like any other resident. It will come within 16 feet six inches of the living room. The proposed 90 feet of sidewalk would connect the sidewalk thats almost there with the next street, and bob hook says he feels hes about to be refrigerated after railroaded after speaking with the city. Once we look at it, it only will delay things. The sidewalk needs to go he got 1,000 petition signatures to stop the sidewalk by walking doortodoor. The city doesnt plan to put a sidewalk on the next street down because of the oak street. Theres a sidewalk on the other side of the street for miles. Bob hook tells the solution is simple. Just have a crosswalk installed here on central so that people can move from the south side of the street to the north side of the street. He says you can even put a Pedestrian Crossing sign right here. With a blind curve on the next block, hook says the city is making things worse. Its riskier and less safe to cross there with people coming from there to here to turn right, over your shoulder. We asked the city about the fight and hes bracing for the worst. 90 more feet of sidewalk would connect many streets. Theres one place in town that makes sense. This is the one. Wont be enough. Mike synan, fox 35 news. Bob at least one parent is upset with a first grade teacher at a Charter School in minneola, on how she tried to teach a classroom about racism. The teacher was trying to teach the kids about Martin Luther king jr. And discrimination. She did it by separating the kids by eye color. Blue eyed kids got hugs and candy. Brown eyed kids got nothing. The principal of the school says the lesson was a bad idea and the teacher is facing disciplinary action. It was not appropriate. It was not an appropriate activity to do in first grade. Out of respect for the teacher, im not going into the disciplinary action, but we are in that process. Shes been spoken to about its not an appropriate lesson for first grade at all. Bob the parent who complained about the lesson did new at 10 00, using welfare debit cards, a fraud ring busted open. Reporter youre watching suspected criminals in action. Thieves allegedly stealing from the government and in many cases stealing identities to do so. If it can happen to me, it can happen to everybody. Reporter the police chief is usually on the investigating side of these crimes. This time hes a victim of identity theft. Kind of scary to wonder just whats out there and how people can get the information. Reporter polk county detectives say the information was gotten, even the Social Security number, then it was used to order an ebt from the government and used it several times. Shocked about how did they passed my Social Security number. Reporter deputies believe this is a piece to a bigger puzzle that started coming together last march when fraudulent credit was used at the walmart. It was stephanies telephone number and addresses associated with her that this whole detectives say that led them to some family and friends who were part of a fraud ring stretching between polk and highlands counties and involving as many as 11 people. We have Video Evidence and proveable evidence of around 10,000 of fraudulent activity. A sheriff spokesperson says using ebt cards to commit crimes is shame feel. Its like stealing from four four poor people. Who does that . And that, more than losing his own identity. Its amazing that people will use fraud to get that kind of money and take it out of the mouths of people who need it. Im glad they got them. Deputies say some of these criminals committed a huge number of transactions with a huge number of fraudulent cards. The problem is, they dont have Video Evidence of all of them so investigators believe these charges only involve a fraction clouds and showers moving out and a strong wind with cold temperatures moving in. Ill have that extended forecast. A couple home burglars in a uhaul caught in the act. The homeowners jump into action. And we were going pretty fast. I was like, no, dont do this, dont do this. Bob Glenn Richards joining us with the allimportant weekend forecast. Lots going on this weekend. Glenn just in the past five minutes, it was snowing in the panhandle. No way. Glenn just north and west of tallahassee. Now its sleet thats coming down. Youll see it here in a little bit. Live radar looking good, we are currently rainfree but earlier it came through really blowing hard. It looks like temperatures again today steady, holding mainly in the 60s. We had one Tornado Warning earlier this afternoon, out through Volusia County, and then everything quickly moved offshore. Here are the current temperatures and this is impressive. You go from 63 in miami, to 57 here. Cool, chilly, not too bad. Look at pensacola at 36 degrees. This storm up to the north, this major storm system, this blizzard, is just now wrapping up, so its really latching into the colder air, pulling it all the way back around. Look at this area right here. I highlighted it. Watch the snow. It formed a little while ago and now it changed over to snow, sleet, and some a little bit of rain. It is cold enough right now in the panhandle that it is currently snowing a little bit. Right now, washington, d. C. , its snowing a lot. New york city also getting into the heavy snow. When you look at this, you think, you know, its already beginning to break up, its going to end tonight. No, thats not the case. The low Pressure Center has not even formed as of yet. Its going to form right about here. A little later on tonight. And then its really going to start to wrap around even more moisture back into this zone. Thats why virginia and working its way through dc, delaware, up into new jersey, this whole area of pennsylvania, philadelphia, is going to pick up the brunt of it as this low forms and starts to wrap in more moisture and that will continue through tomorrow morning and afternoon. Eventually the low will accelerate and move away after dragging some snow up towards the boston area. Just an impressive meteorological event going on. 48 in sanford for the low tonight. 50 in melbourne. When you wake up in leesburg, 46. 30s in the panhandle. And wind chills even tomorrow morning are going to be in the 30s. But heres what i think is very impressive. Tomorrow at noon, 40 in gainesville. 42 in fort mccoy the big storm is pulling down the cold air. Its advection cooling. 45 in leesburg tomorrow. 47 in the villages. 45 down towards clermont. It is definitely going to be a very chilly day. Even out in brevard county. At noon tomorrow, about 50 to 52 degrees. 47 in st. Cloud. 45 in kissimmee. Then when you factor the winds in on top of that, it will feel like the upper 30s in the middle part of the afternoon, even though it will be a sunny day, it will be a very chilly day. 57 degrees our current temperature in clermont. 56 in daytona. 58 in melbourne. An impressive, historic type storm up to the north right now. Were feeling the impact. 57 for the high tomorrow, if were lucky. Tomorrow night, wind chills, tomorrow night wind chills will get down into the 20s, with a low temperature down to 35. Next week, well start to warm it up. Someone stole their stuff right out of a shed. Bob but they were able to catch the suspects as they made their way in a uhaul truck. Well hear from the burglary victims. First, savi
