And it showed she can win in the midwest with a win in ohio. we are moving closer to securing the Democratic Party nomination and winning this election in november. while clinton is walking away with more delegates sanders still sees a path to the nomination. we will win if the voter turnout is is high. lets make it high. thank you all very much. p reporter and republicans who hoped that they would put together a coal legislation a coalition that would prevent trump from getting to the magic delegate number before the Republican Convention pieces fall into place. john kasich did win in ohio, but ted cruz fell short in both illinois and missouri from cutting into big significant donald trump leads. meaning all of the delegates he lost in ohio he is probably going to make up in those two states. ramona and tony, back to you. p romona there are a few other races we are waiting for the results. Do you have any status on those . p reporter i am looking at my board right now and the race in missouri on the republican side, 99 of the precincts have reported. it is less than a percentage point that separate donald trump and ted cruz right now. it is somewhere in the range of 3,000 votes. and they are still counting. we also continue have a final verdict in missouri between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. percentage lead with thiept of 90 of their votes cast. in illinois we are waiting on a final verdict. it is important to point out even though there is a symbolic lift to winning these states, like in missouri for instance, even if ted cruz were to win, the del gets are apportioned out by a congressional district. you do get a sizable chink of delegates for chunk of delegates for winning the whole thing. donald trump has already won a number of congressional delegates. it is hard to look for Silver Linings if you are a fan of any other candidate. p tony you mentioned ted cruz and not a lot of talk about him. of course trump dominates the conversation. but moving forward as we look ahead to next week, a week from tonight in arizona, i can kasich keep up . kasich will probably not even participate in arizona. he will go to pennsylvania. he views pennsylvania as the next big state where he has a real shot. cruz will try to make a last ditch effort to win some of the southern states, but he has thought shown a capacity he can win any of these southern states. he lost in south carolina. he lost in florida. he lost in Hillary Clinton and i will become the president of the united states. thank you all very much and god bless you. john kasich made good on his promise to win ohio and Hillary Clinton claimed victory in the Buckeye State as well. and tonight the path to the white house is becoming clear. p tony we want to get to dan deroos who has been monitoring the results since the polls closed three and a half hours p dan we aring we aring looing at the republican side. tonight was a big night for donald trump. he wins florida and thats 99 delegates. he wins North Carolina and thats proportional. we get a new color on the map. thats because our own governor wins his first state in these primary elections. and he wins it with a pretty nice victory. it is 46 to 30 sick . 36 . 66 delegates is what he will pick up. donald trump wins that as well 39 to 30 . missouri is still counting its votes. but look at this, with 99 in trump at 42 and ted cruz at 41 and thats too close to call with 99 of the vote in and we will have to watch that. and now the democratic map it is a huge night for Hillary Clinton. carolina and she takes ohio. she is up just a little bit in illinois with 77 of the vote. when we go to missouri this may be a Bernie Sanders only chance for a win. 62 of the vote in and he is up 5148. back to you guys. p tony thank you, dan. kasich. his results came in early. it was called early. p romona at Baldwin University they were celebrating. sara goldenburg has the latest. p reporter this was a big night for governor john kasich. he remains in the race after a big win in ohio. Do you have any status on those . p reporter i am looking at my board right now and the race in missouri on the republican side, 99 of the precincts have reported. it is less than a percentage point that separate donald trump and ted cruz right now. it is somewhere in the range of 3,000 votes. and they are still counting. we also continue have a final verdict in missouri between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. percentage lead with thiept of 90 of their votes cast. in illinois we are waiting on a final verdict. it is important to point out even though there is a symbolic lift to winning these states, like in missouri for instance, even if ted cruz were to win, the del gets are apportioned out by a congressional district. you do get a sizable chink of delegates for chunk of delegates for winning the whole thing. donald trump has already won a number of congressional delegates. it is hard to look for Silver Linings if you are a fan of any other candidate. p tony you mentioned ted cruz and not a lot of talk about him. of course trump dominates the conversation. but moving forward as we look ahead to next week, a week from tonight in arizona, i can kasich keep up . kasich will probably not even participate in arizona. he will go to pennsylvania. he views pennsylvania as the next big state where he has a real shot. cruz will try to make a last ditch effort to win some of the southern states, but he has thought shown a capacity he can win any of these southern states. he lost in south carolina. he lost in florida. he lost in North Carolina today. he lost in georgia. each of these guys will try to paint a narrative whereas the fields narrow down with rubio out of the way they can build some momentum. i havent seen the momentum that anyone has the ability to overtake the passionate support that trump has. yes he is is hovered around 38 to 40 of the vote and seems to be at that ceiling, but no one has shown if it is not and tonight that was further cemented and it is difficult to get donald trump the nomination. not surprisingly the primary dominated the throughout the day. pr pictures to peoples opinions politics was trending. dan do is back with dan are talking about. we used a program on the big board that can literally track who is getting tweeted about and facebooked about. who is being mentioned the most. and we are not just talking republicans. what has been interesting is donald trump has always dominated. these are not always good comments and bad comments. what is interesting is is the shift between second and third place tonight. at one point when marco rubio suspended his campaign he got as high as second. hillary after a couple of her speeches, but what you have to the number. 41 of all mentions on social media right now have something to do with donald trump. again we are not saying they are all supportive. second place from 41 to 14 and thats how much the twitter verse and facebook and instagram are enamored and divided among done national trump. here is the heat map. if it is a blue dot that is is somebody that is using social media. democrats a red dot and they are talking about republicans. a lot of activity in california. it is calming down and now this map just represents the last 10 minutes. it is calming down in ohio. steel a lot of still a lot of chatter in florida. you can see it has been fairly spread even as far as republicans versus democrats being mentioned on social media. nelson. he is the president of the naacp. i want to thank you for joining us. lets talk a little about the candidates. all of them blanketed our state and trying to get the vote in ohio as we know tonight. john kasich won and Hillary Clinton won. lets talk about the democrats. what is the single Biggest Issue facing africanamericans that you were interested in hearing hillary and Bernie Sanders talk about. criminal justice obviously, but historically black colleges. Hillary Clinton committed 25 billion toward hbcu. Bernie Sanders talked about the fact that college had to be affordable. that was very, very important. another thing that is important is they said we are tired of seeing Police Officer killing young africanamerican arent committing a crime. Justice Reform is important for the africanamerican community. p romona we know how important owe ryan is and the naacp reached out to all of the republican candidates. We know donald trump has had a lot of inflammatory language, but still he reached out to all of them. what was their response . it was part of a coalition that included dr. Rhonda williamson and there is a small group, five of us. we talked to them because we want to talk about the issues. there are discussions about personalities and all of the other kind of nonsense. we want to get them on the stage and on the roster to talk about issues. The response obviously from saunders and secretary clinton was positive. The republican candidates couldnt get their scheduleses together, but we were able to actually sit down and have a conversation. thats what we called it a community conversation. were you disappointed that their schedules work for you . i know they said they wanted to reach outside and africanamericans to hispanics. we know as a party there is an africanamerican out reach. but lets make it real by having a conversation about issues. by not having the conversation it exclude the Republican Party from having a genuine discussion so they can find out what is actually at the source of our concern. both with their party and the general Political Climate in this country. p romona mike nelson, thank you so much for sharing your insight with us. youre welcome. p tony ramona here with ken lancey. i know you are a trump supporter and it is obvious why. you have a few things in common with him in terms of not being beholden to anybody and just being outspoken. and paying our way. it is a substantial benefit and an edge over politicians. it is a practical reality that when you take money from somebody you owe. my kids understand that and my grandkids understand that. trump isnt taking money. we become antiestablishment. if you cant beacon trolled. you if you cant be controlled you cant play in politics. do you think this is a bump in the road for trump or do you think he has hit a ceiling . i dont think he hit a ceiling. the field narrows and i believe the conversations will focus more around the issues and rather than the individual personalities. will he be specific on the issues . thats been one of the criticisms of donald trump and he wont say these plans are going to be terrific and incredible. as Business People we dont do that. in the real Business Community you have to get all of the facts first. if you are president of the of promises that you get to the office and you say you cant keep them. it is different than what the public has been given. you wait until you get there. you wait until you get all of the facts. but do you think is that going to work for the voters . are they going to vote you into office before you tell them what you will do . the immigration he wants to suspend it. not forever and not to lock everybody out, but he wants to get control of the problems. you cant get control until you find out the extent of the problems. we should all get it. it is thought what we do. we expect our government to protect us. we have to let the government do that. the president when he gets in he gets all of the information. best people around. i wont name the other candidate if he could do everything he says he would do day. so that is overreaching. all across america families are coming back to Time Warner Cable for a whole new experience. Pwe came back for internet speeds so fast oh shes impressed. Were catching up on movies and shows on demand just as fast as we can watch them. And ask how you could get a 300 reward card. Call now. P tony we continue our campaign 2016 coverage looking at numbers from ohio. Hillary Clinton 57 over bernie sander. bernie determined in this race, but Hillary Clinton continues to be the clear front runner for the democratic nomination. and on the republican side will we look at these numbers . john kasich is is having a big night as he promised he was confident. marco rubio lost his home state of florida and of course dropped out of the race. p romona if john kasich wins in ohio which he has for all intensive purposes. he was truly the voice of the supporters or could there be other factors at play . like people voting for him to block trump from winning ohio . it is an issue that paul answers. it is a great question. make no mistake that kasich or any politician will take votes he certainly got support from marco rubio urging his supporters to vote for kasich. it is a phenomenon if not a tidal wave. voter switching parties for the primary. among those who requested absentee ballots 15. Sick switched and 23 went from republican to democrat. and it is a small sample. 25,000 voters. 2 could show a trend. it could show a trend. 55 of those switching are going to the gop. but those are just numbers. hard to determine is why people are switching. there are two schools of thought. one, people in both parties want to vote for trump. a lot of that where trump campaigned last night. the more interesting scenario is that people fear a Trump Presidency and they are doing what they can to stop him. doing it by voting republican an attempt to give him 66 electoral votes. you can ask for a partys ballot on election i did. you are considering a republican until next primary election. in the fall you can vote for who you want. all are limited in challenging a ballot request. it is virtually guaranteed you will get the ballot you ask for. after the primary after you want to return to your old party you need to do so, but fill out the paperwork. it would limb at this time it to 30 days before an election. 7 of democratic voters requested the republican ballots. i read a newspaper article about the risks of doing this. it points out two risks. you are probably going to get more political mail and phone calls looking for donations from the new party and if you plan to run for office the a candidate from the old party. cleveland 19. p romona thank you for that. we will check on the Cuyahoga County prosecutors race and right now 95 of the precincts reporting and Michael Omalley is beating him mcginty5446 . more cleveland 19 news when we p romona welcome back to the campaign 2016 coverage. we will again look at the kaya toe cuyahoga prosecutors race omalley is beating mcginty with 68 of the precincts reporting. p romona Election Results have been coming in all night and we will get over to dan deroos. p dan ramona, i love looking at the map as it comes in. red are trump wins and green is the first kasich win and blue a ted cruz and the only marco rubio win was minnesota. i will bring in Roger Beckett from Ashbrook Center from ashland university. i really want to bring up missouri here. 99 of the race counted. tie. 41 . vote. this is a proportional state so they will divide up the delegates. thats why they wont call. it is this a sprees or do you see anything tonight that was map . that bodes will for trump and cruz. they will walk away with delegates. kasich may walk away for a handful as well. there is one district he is performing strongly. overall surprises for the night is is really how well john kasich did in ohio. it was much better than the polls show and much better than certainly is than i expected and that will have an affect on the rest of the race. and we look at illinois and kasich will pick up delegates here. he did fairly well for not doing a whole lot of campaigning in that state. he was so focused on ohio. lets get to the democrats. Hillary Clinton with the blue state wins. Bernie Sanders gets the green states. it was a big night for hillary. she wins florida and she wins North Carolina. she is up here in ohio. it is a little too close to call in illinois. 41 to 48 . and in missouri this may be sanders only chance for a win. 90 and this has gotten a little tighter. sanders had a 2point lead a little bit ago. surprised tonight at how well hillary did. it is a very important win for her. especially after the michigan loss. the votes are split proportionally or delegates p romona welcome back to once again we are taking a look at the Ohio Republican race to the white house. john kasich, of course, with 47 of the vote followed by donald trump at 37 and ted cruz lags way behind with 14 . on the democratic side Hillary Clinton beating Bernie Sanders 5743 . p tony and we have been following the prosecutors race. we have talked about it a lot and Michael Omalley, the challenger who surged ahead with a 10 lead now as we go late into the night and approach midnight. i dont know as we look back over the course of the day how many big surprises there were. nobody surprised rubio lost florida and cons consequently dropped. p romona i think people were nervous about the hillarysanders race in ohio. not sure many people thought she could pull it out, especially in light of what happened in michigan when she was upset. soundly defeat Bernie Sanders in ohio. and yawn kasich said scwh and john kasich saying he did. thank you for joining us and we will have the latest election news at 4 30 a.
