Part of the conditions of his a man that Earl Eddington had a full view of, there are a lot of people, a lot of questionable things going on in the area during all hours of the night. Can you just talk about what these dogs have gone through . Louisiana to atlanta now up here. Okay. So were counting down for their arrival. Its been a big journey for them. They started off in the flooded areas around lafayette, which also known as acadiana. Thats where they were rescued. They then went to a Holding Facility there. From there they were sent to the Atlanta Humane Society. So what is that . Thats probably a good ten hours away. Reporter all of the stress theyre dealing with. Right. If you can imagine how stressful it is for the people to lose everything. It really applies to the dogs too. I mean, theyve lost their people, their homes. Everything theyre familiar with. And now theyre going on this things for them. Theyre going to be really getting great adopted families. But along the way, its a lot to go through. So im estimating 12 hours to atlanta. And another 12 hours to here. So thats just the transport alone. And i think, like any living creature, like whats familiar to you is whats comfortable. So one of the things we want to do is to get them familiar with rescue village. But hopefully not stay here very long. Reporter exactly. This a and part of what we built. Its part of our expanded building. So its a place for dogs to be outside. When these dogs get here, theyll be taken immediately. Theyll be taken immediately to their kennels. And here they are. But this is definitely what weve been waiting for. As you can see, the Atlanta Humane Society is coming up 25, 27 dogs . Yes. Were yes, up to 28 dogs. Reporter okay. Range in age . Like taking back their lives all together. Its a very unique program that so far only knows success. To see each of them added. Youd never know these are recent Breast Cancer survivors taking part in the free fitness is power middle brooks heights. Got me back to a point where i had more confidence. Better stamina. And more strength because chemo just kind of sucked the life out of my muscles. Reporter a two time survivor, one of dozens who credits the programs for getting her through some of her most moments. Patients are referred during or after chemo and paired up with trainer faye got patty. It was very rewarding to know that people are the people that go through this can feel like themselves again. Reporter thats where the healing goes beyond physical. It helps me put it behind me and it makes me look forward. That sense of empowerment for yourself again and some control. Reporter roseanne armstrongs tears the result of hard work and lots of laughs with trainer chelcea. I wasnt sure what to expect going into it. Those who new fitness but whose fitness was taken away by the cancer and those experiencing fitness for the first time and even losing weight finding themselves better off than before when they got cancer. Romona ie how is it set up . Can any patient be referred . Catherine the patients have to be referred by doctors at the University Hospitals or from southwest general hospital. Its a six month program. So it takes about six women at a time. But im told theyve never turned anyone away and they dont think theyre going to. They operate strictly on donations. Whats going on beneath and alongside of the bridge. A park is taking shape. The park will blend seamlessly with the community. Over here you see historic stones from the old superior viaduct. Theyve been rescued, placed other stones will dot the tow path. The original high level crossing of the Cuyahoga River in this area. It opened in 1888 and it stood until 1941. Reporter when the bridge came down, the steel was memented and used for the world war ii war effort. Stones set in place all these years largely neglected. Its now being called tremont terrace. Here we come along with just the sandstone thats kind of historically significant. So thats what we rebuilt these peers out of sandstone. Reporter he staging area that doesnt look like much right now will be transformed into a park and given the tight vehicle more parking. Tremont is getting more than 100 new parking spaces, as well as a park and access to the tow path.
