On thursday morning a man approached several young girls walking to school. He grabbed two of them. In one instance he hit a girl in the face and another he exposed himself. Parents have received auto calls from the School System saying the suspect has been arrested. This is not true. Police are asking everyone to remain vigilant and be on the he yelled hey. Boom, boom, boom and proceeded to go into the building. Denise we are learning more about the man behind a deadly workplace shooting in kansas. The suspect killed three people and wounded 14 others. Reporter police in kansas say shooting suspect cedric ford was served from a protection from abuse order in the factory where he worked 90 minutes before he opened fire. He didnt display anything outrageous. He displayed a little upset that he was getting this letter. Reporter ford, who had a criminal record left work after getting the order and first opened fire from his car hitting someone in a vehicle. He shot another driver and stole their car before heading back to the excel plant. A shooter at excel industries. Reporter ford shot one another 14 inside the building before an officer gunned him down. The unidentified officer is called a hero. He had to stop that threat. You have 200, 300 people in there, luckily 200, 300 people came out. Reporter relatives rushed to the factory after hearing about the shooting. One couple was reunited as cameras were rolling. Police say ford was armed with an Assault Rifle and automatic handgun. Police are trying to figure out how a suspect with a criminal record was able to get those weapons. Heroin addicted women risk putting their babies through Serious Health complications. And this Program Provides a solution and it is saving lives. Works. Now. Reporter unlike other stories we have brought about you heroin addiction ashleys story is different. Not only was she addicted she i struggled with drugs rell bad even when i was pregnant. She turned to mercy st. Vincent Medical Center for help. Starting in 2014 mother and Child Dependency Program works with pregnant moms who are addicted. In the one year since the program started, 53 women enrolled. It was not easy. Hi to get help. It is not something you can do on your own. Stephanie is another mother who found herself pregnant, addicted and alone. Reporter was it like getting sober while pregnant. It is scary. The first thing i think of is my baby, am i hurting her and how does she feel. Both managed to get clean and have healthy babies. To see how i started out and ended is amazing. She says 50 of 53 pregnant women who come through the program have had similar, positive outcomes. They have something to work for. Reporter what happens to other addicted mothers who didnt find a program and didnt get clean. Last year they reported treating 187 babies born addicted to heroin. Many of those babies ended up in foster care. In 2015, 50 we worked with had drug abuse or drug related incident. Amy is director of Family Services and she says the goal is always to keep families the safety of the child. The most difficult thing for a parent to do is admit they have a problem. I give parents credit for coming forward to say i need help. As for these parents, they both credit their babies for helping them get clean. The help is there.
