Dog runs away somebody brings them back but a baby, it is a situation we cannot understand. She tells us her granddaughter, six months pregnant gave birth and the baby girl was still born. She says when the funeral home contacted the hospital for the infants remains they found out the remains had been accidentally lost. As of monday, i believe they told her maybe it was through the laundry. Mercy released a statement about the matter saying the hospital extends its sincerest condolences for the family and goes on to say with profound empathy for the familys feelings we are continuing to investigate all aspects of this matter. Is an apology from the hospital enough . Dont know about her. I cant say about her. An apology about a baby . That you disposed of apparently, no. Reporter the hospital also said in that statement they have implemented processes to make sure Something Like this does not happen again and havent said what their initial processes are or what the recisions are they made to the processes. I got a chance today to speak on the phone o still born baby girl and says she is trying to cope and wasnt up to speaking with us on camera. Getting answers in lorain dani carlson, cleveland 19 news. Denise you may have to grab an umbrella on the way out the door now. Chris thats right. A cooldown expected as well. Temps in the first alert weather center. Jeff . Jeff we had pretty good rains with showers and storms this afternoon. I posted video out of twinsburg sent in by brian duffy earlier as storms were moving through. I have to tell you it is basically in the southern counties and not so much along the lakeshore. Other than perhaps brief shower, these showers out over the lake have been dying out. But they could effect the lakeshore. This is rain and storms columbiana and tuscarawas and holmes county. These continue to move east lisbon here in Columbiana County. Here columbiana, Carroll County border. Thats a thunderstorm producing downpours and we have them out there. It is mostly cloudy sky and currently in the cleveland area and we will be drying out. Chris orlo wants to know about crossing guards in neighborhood. Denise Paul Orlousky got answers as the city started staffing the crosswalks. Did you do your homework . Did you finish it. Herbert stokes is a Sergeant Major in the black mans army and a familiar face in euclid near euclid park elementary. See you later. See enthuse afternoon . Yeah. All right. Thank you. Herbert took it upon himself to serve as a crossing guard, no pay and just for the neighborhood kids. And we need crossinar this is dangerous. Cars zipping by are over the limit of 20 miles an hour and there could be an explanation for that. Flashing lights arent lit and crossing guards could do that in a zone without a guard. In euclid no guard, no key and no flashing lights for two weeks now. My kids cross the street every day. I am scared for them. The school closest to them. Story. We will make sure to get the right story and update the cross guards have begun staffing. There are still 81 openings however for the city to fill. Moving forward, the man who gunned down a star Football Player had his day in court today and so did the victims family. David garrett played High School Football in cleveland and named defensive player of the year in kansas state and at home he worked as correction officer and bad blood boiled between his family and Barry Blevins for a decade in 2014 and words between the two. A flashing of guns and eventually gunshots. Blevins later pleaded guilty to manslaughter and he got 14 years but not before davids grandmother confronted blevins. Did that make you feel like a man, all the violence out here, all the guns . Advocate with the violence from us losing loved ones and, you know, we have to go through the judicial system and just another life gone, next case. The one stipulation, the rescuer must contact 911 before they break in and there cant be any other way to rescue the person or pet inside. 600 children died inside hot vehicles since 1990. And cars. Chris yesterday we told you about a group of more than 50 dogs rescued in twinsburg. Today we can report theres a line out the door to adopt the cute little canines. 56 manipulateture schnauzers were surrendered in akron by a breeder who could no longer a care for them. 22 schnauzers have been adopted and 5 other dogs and the number is still some need medical attention before being placed in forever homes. They are cute. Cute indeed. They are going fast. Lets talk sports indians leading Central Division by four and a half games. Despite first place tribe have the third worst attention in the bigs. Denise whats going on, cleveland. Just under 20,000 people are going to the games on average. Are fans put off by ticket prices or Something Else . Answers for him tonight. Tony . Yeah, dee. Cant be ticket prices we talked about it with curtis danburg. No team makes it more accessible and affordable to fans. This is a hot button issue with tribe fans. They are passionate on both sides and not like clevelanders dont love their tribes. The ratings are the highest and newsstands behind home plate right now and these are a couple of them. You cant offer you more in the endgame experience. What is the deal for indians . It starts with a product. Thats good. Put it this way. If you come to a tribe game theres a pretty good chance you will watch a celebration. They win twice as many games as they lose on their home turf. When you add all this stuff up it is baffling that it is tough to get people to the ballpark for week night games and thats the issue. I talked to the tribe and got their take. This year and experienced the ballpark for the first time in a couple of years and they have been overwhelmed and the wow factor has been high. We have seen a lot of fans bounce back and come to multiple games that maybe havent in the past. And i think thats the contribution to weekend sales being up. Past couple week night games we have struggled to drive attendance. Tony a show for the indians. I asked at 11 00. They have been in first place for three months. Playoffs are a month away. Theres never been a better product in the American League than Cleveland Indians and i brought it up. And fire away on facebook. I put it out there. How did cleveland go from 455 consecutive sellouts to 15 years ago to almost dead last in the league. Dan deroos digging a little deeper. Dan . Dan when we look at the numbers it is baffling like tony said. We have seen really bad teams in cleveland and drawing about as much as good teams. 2000 at the end of the run when it seems like indians were going to go tohe time. We were first out of the 14 American Leagues when it came to attendance. 3. 4 million tickets for the season averaging 42,000 fans per game. Thats phenomenal. Lets fast forward three years. When we come out of that, they have gutted the team. Take a look. We go down to 1. 7 million averaging 21,000 a game. Fast forward again and we sort of come up. Remember we miss world series by next year we get a bump up in attendance and maybe the tribe are onto something and get 9th to 14. We get to the worst we have ever had. 2014 averaging just under 18,000 a game last in the American League and compare it to this year we are really not that much further off when we were a Terrible Team in 2014 and averaging 19,618 fans a game. Yet we are 13 out of 15 American League teams. Tough to figure out. Go to the games. Chris . Chris best advice. Thank you, dan. Coming up good news for micro brews. The idea was presented by a School Board Member earlier in the summer has gotten mostly positive results. Denise i like it. New Research Shows dogs respond much more than to your tone of voice. Brain scans shows your best friend can understand most of what you are saying. We brought a little bit of this yesterday but Michelle Miller from cbs evening news is in new york with more on this story. Sit. Good girl. Reporter ask any dog owner and they will tell you their dog dance . Yeah. Reporter but a team of hungarian researchers have taken whats always assumed one step further saying they proved that dogs actually understand a lot more than what we think. Regulars like sit, stay, come here, when we are walking i always say wait. The mere experiment counted on cooperation of 13 dogs, a and golden retrievers trained to lie still 7 minutes during a functional mri scan wearing head phones, dogs listened as trainers combined phrases with different intonations and brain scans revealed like humans dogs process words with the left side of their brain and used the right side to process pitch. Alexander horowitz is the author a division of cbs. What did this study teach. This study is theres a division in the dogs brain between meaning and sound. So they are hearing the pitch of what we say and also attending at some level to the meaning and especially familiar words. Reporter results shows dogs only recognize praise if both words and tone were positive.
