Tonight, after months of investigating, charlottesville said they could find in their words, no evidence that attack ever happened. Abcs linsey davis leads us off from virginia. Reporter the allegations were shocking a Freshman Student named jackie supposedly lured by her date to a party at this Fraternity House a night of romance turned to horror. A brutal sex attack by seven fraternity members. Her story, published in Rolling Stone magazine triggering a movement on campuses around the country. But today, charlottesville, virginia, police say they found no proof the attack at the frat ever happened. We have no evidence to support those assertions. Reporter soon after jackies story was published, it began to unravel. Rolling stone saying it never contacted the alleged attackers. And today said there was no party at the frat on the night in question and no proof the student jackie says brought her there gisexists. They say jackie herself refused to cooperate with the investigation. No witnesses, no evidence to support the allegations made in the article . Thats correct. Interviewed plenty of people. No one6 incident occurring on september 28th 2012. Reporter but police arent ruling out that something awful happened to jackie. The night she says she was raped, she called some friends for help. Who later spoke to abc news. She was shaking and crying and it really looked like she had just gone through something really traumatic. Reporter thats why police say jackies case has not been closed. Only suspended. Their hope theyll one day be able to learn exactly what happened that night.
