County. It is thursday night, and the the big story on action news tonight has finally come to an end on the unit block of hillview drive. Action News Reporter Christie Ileto is as close to the scene as she is being allowed by authorities. Christie, the standoff is going on for hours. Do you know yet how police were able to apprehend the barricaded man . Reporter well, jim, that gunman is in custody. And heard not too long ago as him being tased as s. W. A. T. Teams made their way into his home. This was the scene earlier. The barricade lasted for about four hours. Police were called to a home on hillview and wayne at 6 30 this evening. Inside that springfield home was reportedly heavily armed man who had apparently fired three shots. Witnesses say he was yelling at police to end him. And then refused to come out of his home. Now, police were able to man uf a robot into that house and later made entry inside to detain him. Right now that gunman is being treated at a nearby hospital. The police chief is actually going to be getting some more information later tonight. Reporting live in springfield, Christie Ileto, channel 6 action news. Jim . Christie. Thank you. Law enforcement authorities in coatesville are trying to sort out a triple shooting tonight. The gunfire erupted at 5 45 on the 500 block of omna street. The men are being treated at paoli hospital. Their injuries are said to be nonlifethreatening. Were coming to the end of the hottest day of the year. The sun set on the first day at 90degree temperatures so far in 2016. So locally around the region tomorrow, many locations will be in the mid and upper 80s. The highly urbanized areas like philadelphia, even trenton could hit 90 degrees tomorrow, maybe a popup random thunderstorm in those northwestern suburbs. Sea breeze kicks in at the shore keeping temperatures there in the mid70s. And tomorrow, air quality will be a little low especially for the unhealthy and the sensitive groups. Ozone action day, especially the kids, its seniors, if you have heart or lung conditions, definitely want to limit the outdoor activities. And as we rank the holiday weekends, saturday, sunday ranking number one. By monday were ranking number three as clouds, showers and downpours come in. Dann, i take it there are some unhappy parents tonight. Reporter jim, thats right. Theyre a little bit upset about what happened. The good news is all of the kids are at home and okay. But it was a harrowing day for parents having to rush to school not knowing why their kids were being rushed to the hospital it was very hot and some kids passed out after we left. Reporter 12yearold noah describing what was supposed to be a nice endofschool trip to the trenton thunder ballpark. But after being out in the 90degree sun for hours with no shade, more than a dozen sixthgraders became ill. All of us felt dizzy. All of us that went to the hospital felt dizzy, lightheaded. We were all shaking because we were all scared of what was happening. Reporter not knowing what was happening, First Responders carried out a mass casualty response. When we arrived there we were informed that the many of the kids were suffering from heat stroke. Reporter two of the students, both girls, were taken directly from the ballpark to Capital Health Medical Center nearby. The rest of the group returned to the school about 1 00 p. M. Where other children were showing signs of heatrelated illnesses. Some were taken to area hospitals. Others to st. Mary. Remarkably, parents and their kids say the school told them they were not allowed to bring water or anything into the stadium. Did the school or anybody offer you all any water or anything . Well, they you had to pay to get a lunch, and then that was mainly it for all of the water. They didnt supply you with water until you got back to the school. Reporter parents were being updated on what happened on the Pennsbury School website with warning that all parents ensure are encouraged to ensure that their children are adequately hydrated on days where temperatures were unusually high. That statement outraged parents who werent even there. I may have said a couple of expletives. I was so angry, to is that blame to sort of have that blame put on me. I dont understand it. It was already a terrible day and then to put that on me. Reporter now, we were unable to get reaction from the School District since it was after hours. But again tonight, all of the kids are okay. We are waiting to hear if governor Chris Christie has signed a life preserver rescue plan for Atlantic City. The senate and assembly approved bills today that would keep Atlantic City from going broke as we begin the summer season. The legislation gives the city five months to come up with a plan to balance its budget. The city would get 75 million in loans and 120 million a year from casinos in lieu of taxes. But if the city cannot balance the budget, the state could take it over. Also from our new jersey newsroom, the state legislature has approved a bill to ban smoking on beaches and in parks. The measure now heads to governor christies desk. Although he has vetoed a similar bill before and as recently as yesterday, you suggested that bans should be left to shore towns and local communities, not mandated by the state. The current bill would allow towns to set aside up to 15 of a beach and a park for smoking. Septas newly approved budget tonight does not require hiking fares, even as the Transit Agency plans to increase spending by 3 . Septa says it will be able to maintain current routes and Service Levels in its 1. 4 billion budget. In addition to all of that, septa plans to spend 412 million to buy at least 525 new hybrid buses over the next five years. Officials say it is part of an effort to build one of the cleanest, greenest streets in the country. Once compete hybrid also make up about 95 of septa buses. The u. S. Justice department is launching a review of chesters police department. It comes at the citys request. It will be the first fully independent evaluation in the departments history. Police commissioner Darren Alston says, despite Community Criticism over recently officerinvolved shootings, the request for a federal review is unrelated. The twoyear probe will take an indepth look at several areas including those officerinvolved shootings, community policing, and criminal assist. Philadelphia School Student also have an easier access to clean drinking water. That may sound like a pretty basic requirement, but students have been speaking out for months about broken or unappealing water fountains, and theyve been demanding something be done. Today, the School Reform commission agreed to install three hydration stations at all 218 district schools. The nations newest citizens took the oath of allegiance today in kin king of prussia. 48 people from 29 countries took part in a naturalization ceremony at Valley Forge National historic park. Trump was in bismarck, north dakota, when he reached 1239 delegates, two more than he needs, and not nearly as many as he will get when the june 7 primaries are over. Trump scaled the threshold when unbound delegates including some from pennsylvania committed to voting for him on the first ballot. Meanwhile, could be that brn been will debate Bernie Sanders will debate donald trump before the primary on that date. Sanders made the proposal and trump has said yes but with a catch. The network that hosts the debate will have to put up at least 10 million for charity for Womens Health causes. Reporter ben franklin once said fish and guests stink in three days. But it only took these thieves 15 minutes to create a stink for hopkins seafood. These two guys cut the lock on this cargo trailer. Then they and the rest of their crew went to work carrying out box after box of fresh seafood. They just go in and pretty much empty out this trailer. Reporter the seafood heist happened saturday night between 7 00 and 9 00 p. M. On the 3100 block of south third. The stolen seafood was loaded into an s. U. V. The suspects seemed to know what they wanted. They took their time. They knew exactly which trailer they were going to, able to pop the lock open and load up. Reporter investigators have no leads but this surveillance video. They want the public to take a close look at the thieves and keep an eye out for any fishy sales of seafood. Theyre probably going to try and sell it. Perhaps they even own a store, and, you know, thats what were hoping that somebody will recognize these individuals. I mean, theyre six uniquelooking individuals. Still at 11 00 in the lehigh valley. It is warmer to the north and west here than it is south and east because of those winds coming in off of that very cold ocean of 61 degrees. So the shore communities right now in the middle 60s. Satellite and radar, a few high clouds passing through a few sprinkles in Lancaster County. But theyre really falling apart as the atmosphere at this point is still very dry but the humidity will continue to pull in from the south late tonight throughout the day tomorrow as well. 10 00 a. M. Tomorrow morning, we are already at 80 degrees or surpassing it in many locations. So its a quick jump in temp tomorrow morning. 70s in the poconos. 70s at the shore. 75, Atlantic City, to wildwood with sunshine where near 90 degrees for many of the inland locations and 3 30 tomorrow afternoon, you can see some of those downpours or thunderstorms around, again, theyll be very isolated. Most areas will miss them. As we look at the shore forecast for the weekend, saturday, mostly sunny, 74. The sea breeze continues sunday with more sunshine. Clouds build on monday with is system to the south, 68 degrees with some showers and the ocean is cold, upper 50s to low 60s. If youre heading to the mountains in the poconos, a popup storm for your saturday but warm overall at 81 degrees. Fairly dry on sunday, 80 with a couple of popups during the day. But monday, again, is more of that wet day, like every location here, 72 degrees as we cool it down with the clouds moving in. Whats responsible for some of the wet weather come monday is this area of really disorganized downpours and thunderstorms at this point. But it does have an 80 chance of becoming either tropical or subtropical as it drifts to the north and west and most of the computer models pretty good agreement here that theyre honing in on somewhere in South Carolina for a possible tropical system late in the weekend, early next week and that will throw some moisture our way for monday.
