Action news reporter, has the very latest on the investigation tonight. Reporter the grim reality is someone is dead and stuffed inside of one of those garbage cans. Its a disturbing discovery made this afternoon on 22nd street in wilmington, a neighborhood where you can see Children Play openly and a Charter School is just steps away. Parents say this kind of crime here has got to stop. So many things have been going on in this city of wilmington, delaware, or killaware as they calm it. Call. Reporter she heard pounding on her door. They asked did i hear anything . When i opened the door, i seen the crime scene. So i said whats a body down there . They didnt state if it was an adult or a baby. Reporter well, just after 10 00 tonight, Police Stated its sadly the body of an 18 to 25yearold woman. Neighbors say this is extremely puzzling no one we spoke with noticed anything wrong. She said she even asked detectives how they knew someone was in there. So i said to myself, how did youall know . They said they got a tip on the trash can. Reporter at this point, theres no official word on who the victim is. Part of the investigation focused around this gray car. It was tested thoroughly for fingerprints. Michele johnson has been living in wilmington her whole life. She cant believe what she saw today. No one is doing anything about the city of wilmington and the community is falling apart. Reporter okay. Again, information on this exdeemly limited. The Police Need Help with this one. In Camden County this evening, chopper 6 was over the scene in clementon. One person was killed. Five others injured after two cars collided during the evening rush. One of the cars slammed into a pole. No word on the extent of the injuries or the identity of the passenger who did not survive. In another crash tonight injured four people when this car slammed into a house. Three of the victims were people inside the home. It all happened in wilmington along the 900 block of north spruce street. Police say two cars collided sending one of them veering off into several parked cars and then into the side of a house. Fortunately, though, no one was seriously hurt. This just in from our new jersey newsroom this evening. Governor Chris Christie has issued an executive order it make money available for absolutely essential road projects. Construction work ground to a halt last week when the states Transportation Trust fund dried up amid political fighting. The governor and legislature could not reach a deal about raising the states gas tax. Christie says no evident progress on legislation has been made. Concerned residents came together tonight in the germantown neighborhood where a 6yearold boy was caught in the crossfire and shot nearly a dozen times last week. While the youngster continues to fight for his life, the boys mother is desperately seeking justice and an end to the violence. Christie ileto is live at the hospital tonight where that little boy is still being treated. Christie. Reporter rick, tonight we heard from the boys mother. You didnt have to be apparent a parent to hear the anguish in her voice. Her son is alert and talking but has a very long road to choking back tears, mrs. Brown speaks for the first time on the block where her 6yearold sons body was riddled with nearly a dozen bullets. The boy had just left his grandmothers house when he was caught in the crossfire. Now dozens show up wednesday night rallying to stop the violence. Im so blessed god spared my baby. Hes slowly progressing. Hes talking now hes now off his breathing treatment. Reporter mahaj known as haji by his family have had seven surgeries and will likely have more. His mother says he knows what happens to him but doesnt understand why. He told the officer that took him to the emergency room, why they shoot me . Like . You know, thats kind of hard. I try to put it in a kids frame. So i tell him youre a superhero so god wanted to see your powers. Reporter in the last week, there have been more than three dozen shootings citywide. Seven fatal. The gunmen in this shooting are still on the run. If someone knows who shot this 6yearold, do you feel like they should come forward . I do. Reporter this woman lives on the same block as the shooting. Its the point of like letting them know who did it. I just pray, you know, that, like i said, somebody have a heart, have a soul. And somebody come forward. Reporter and because of where he was shot in his abdomen, hes not allowed to have solid food. In fact, hes on a feeding tube and hes going to be here at st. Christophers the next three to four weeks. Again, anybody with information about who pulled the trigger is asked to contact detectives. Reporting live here at st. The humidity dropped slightly today even as our longest heat wave of the year continues. But tonight, storms are pushing into the area and meteorologist cecily tynan is tracking it using the most powerful radar in the region, stormtracker 6 double scan. We have storms moving into our region. We need the rain but we dont need the severe weather. And the National Weather service has issued a severe weatherstorm warning for southern New Castle County and all of kent county, delaware, until 11 45. Thats because this line of storms can come with 60mileanhour wind gusts and even small hail. And were really zoomed in on double scan live. And in the past 15 minutes weve had 76 lightning strikes. This whole complex is moving over route 13 between middletown and dover. And you can see a little bit of the bowing out. Thats indication we are getting rushing wind. I think between smyrna and dover its the strongest. If it stays together, it will be moving into cumberland county, new jersey, and southern salem county as well. So dont be surprised if you hear that rumble of thunder. It expands up to the north, but just in the form of generally a soaking rain. This is a good thing. Wilmington, chadds ford, media, philadelphia right now, its raining. And this will be continuing in the overnight hours. But were not out of the woods yet as far as the heat and humidity. This is just a pretty good steady rain moving from lancaster, chester, delaware counties, into philadelphia. This whole complex will be moving through in the overnight hours.
