Philadelphia police are hot on the trail of police for a suspect using fake explosive devices, it looks like a real grenade and he use its to get money this time at the Susquehanna Bank in Rittenhouse Square. And its not the first time he used this tactic. Vernon odom has more now tonight. Reporter so far monica this bank robber is using fake props and has success in the Rittenhouse Square area, and now federal agents have his picture and his luck could run out soon. Just before 5 00 last night this Susquehanna Bank branch at Rittenhouse Square the bandit struck and now they have pictures to help them. He walked into the Susquehanna Branch with what appeared to be a hand grenade and presented a note and left with cash. His grenade was found in a plastic bag on the 200 block of fitzwater. They conclude that this bank robber uses different types of devices to intimidate employees. A few weeks ago we believe that the suspect went into a bank on the 1600 block of walnut and had a box that had wires coming out of it. The Police Bomb Squad found that both devices were phoneys, the fbi will not reveal how much money the robber has pock theed since his first heist. Last night take police say was less than 2000 in what they call bait money he is in his early 40s, 6 feet tall and medium build and black knit cap and dark glasses and dark overcoat and blue jeans and black gloves. We hope someone will call in a tip. Bait money as i understand from one Law Enforcement official could mean several things a parcel of money with a minimal amount of cash to get the robber to run away, some with gpi and gps devices and some with marked bills to try to trace the money and see where it pops up somewhere and one other matter i mention the gps but they want to follow the bills through the markings and through the possible dye packs that they need in these bags as well. Will someone call into the fbi with a tip . When will this person surface again and could he possibly horrifically be carrying a real explosive device . Thank you vernon.
