Reporter all the indications we are getting is that the four officers all from the 35th district are pretty banged up but their injuries arep nonlifethreatening one officer is wearing a neck brace and undergoing a cat scan. Talked to and have seen all four Police Officers they are pretty banged up but in good spirits the four district officers were injured as the suspect used his vehicle as a weapon to flee the scene mayor nutter says they suffered back and leg injuries and one has to undergo a cat scan because his injuries were more serious. He had a neck brace on and the other three officers are basically together theyre the deputy indicated and i saw them they are banged up and they have scrapes on their legs and arms and one officer has pretty sore shoulder. Pedestrians had to jump out of way and the suspect struck a fire truck while trying to flee. And indication that some of the dangers that philadelphia Police Officers encounter on the streets of our city trying to do their job and trying to make sure the city is safe. Reporter by the way the suspect was shot in the chest and he is listed in Critical Condition and is undergoing surgery, that is the latest from here at Einstein Medical Center. Witnesses say that people that were there with the victim tried to save him but unfortunately could not. Sara bloomquist joins us live now in chadsbury township with more. The victim is 22yearold Arrington Williams of coatesville, pennsylvania he was swimming in this Swimming Hole a little bit a distance behind the tree line by this Small Community park, officials tell me the Swimming Hole is 22 feet deep where the young man went in, its extremely cold and he struggled and drowned. Its peaceful location in the woods a short walk here in Chester County localed say people come back here to swim in the creek beneath the railroad bridge. Families come back here and swim and everybody has get togethers back here. Its just known as the Swimming Hole. This morning things turned tragic for a group of friends, a young man was swimming with a group of other men and two women and children. He was struggling went back under the water and his friends tried to rescue him, they jumped in after him and he was taking them down and they tried to the rope swing to help him up but they couldnt. By then they called 911 and police and medics arrived but the manner resurfaced and they tried using poles and ladders but could not. At 1 00 this afternoon they recovered the body. The man was 22 years of age this shows of what can happen in a split second. There are incidents back here before but not a drowning i dont think and i have lived here my whole life. This is not an authorized swimming area, but officials tell me that very, very popular with young people especially this time of year in the early evening, we just saw a group of young people leaving the Swimming Hole, and Officials Say they are not aware of the dangers here and a deceptive 22 feet deep in spots. Action news at 5 00 continues now with the lightest on the violent confrontation between philadelphia Police Officers and a motorist the cell phone video shows a dram attic struggle that sets off a chain of events ending with four officers in the hospital and the suspect in Critical Condition. We are getting a clear picture of how this unfolded this afternoon. It started when officers responded to a reported car crash in the olney section. Authorities here is a that the driver was in disstress and taken out of his red car partially and then the man begins to fight with officers and manages to get back in his car and drive off and then around the corner at the 700 block of chu here the driver allegedly hit four officers responding to the scene and then went to another area, stenton and ogontz where the driver hit a fourth officer, and they opened fire on the driver hitting him in the chest and it continued to oak street where the suspect was taken into custody. The four officers and the suspect were all rushed to Einstein Medical Center for treatment and the officers are expected to be okay. We are here on 7th and chu where a witness tells us that the witness came speeding around the corner he didnt realize this was a dead end and he hit the witnesses car the jeep there and then the cop car and sped off again an action news viewer gave us this video of the minutes leading up to the crash. Here is the video of the initial confrontation after the suspect hit the wall you can see the struggle, it drove off dragging the officer with it. And a witness described what happened at 700 chu street. It happened really kind of fast, i was just kind of working right here and i seen him hit my car. Boom.
