Which is good ns because it is just pouring right now right along i80, lake harmony right now heading towards mount pocono. Also some lightning strikes and there is more on the way and the problem is that some areas the ground is already saturated from this week. You can see the areas circle including near baltimore where they had that deadly flooding near lancaster, near trenton, near lakehurst. We had three to 6 inches of rain so any additional rain in a short period of time could cause some flash flooding so the National Weather service has extended that Flash Flood Watch really all our northern suburbs until 6 oclock tomorrow morning could get one to 2 inches of rain very quickly in less than an hour and you really have to take flash flooding very seriously. It happens in an instant in a flash thats why its called that. Do not drive through flooded areas. You cant see how deep that water is and it only takes about 2 feet of water to just carry away a van or an suv or a truck and 60 percent of all flood deaths do occur in vehicles so i always say turn around, dont drown. I am tracking a change in our air mass finally. Ill talk about when coming up from the full accuweather forecast. Brian. Cecily thank you. Septa in the middle of a major change to the afternoon commute. For now customers heading out of center city wont be able to buy tickets on the train. Instead, they have to present them before they even set foot on the platform and thats causing some issues as you might guess. Action News Reporter bob brooks has been talking with septa riders all afternoon today. Hes live in center city with their response. Bob. Reporter brian, with the shorshortage of rail cars im td this had to happen. People werent paying for their train ride. You can take a look at that line. You got to the go through it to get to the platform. You got to show your proof of purchase. Luckily its moving pretty fast. You can see people are getting through pretty quick. Do you like lines . Well, most people dont. So, you might not like to hear this. From 3 00 p. M. To 6 30 p. M. Monday through friday, you have to go through this line to catch your train out of center city. Thats just the way its going to be now for riders of the Regional Rail line and heres why. Theres so many people on our trains that the conductors cant get on the train and off the train safely and collect fares at the same time. Reporter so what carla of septa is saying is that after the rail car shortages took effect trains are now very, very crowded so much so the conductors who validate your pass after boarding cant get to everyone and some riders were ripping the system off. It was our passengers who complained to septa about the fact that some of the passengers werent paying. Reporter as you can see its pretty simple. You hand them your pass or if you have a ticket you give them that and then you get to walk right through. Im going to lose all those free rides i had the last two weeks. Im bumming. Reporter you were one of them. Oops. Reporter she admits that was wrong and this is only yeah, its fair. Reporter though it might be fair others say their commute shouldnt be affected. Its not right. This whole mess isnt right. Reporter today again is the first dane the stations impacted by this are on your screen now. Theyre the temple, jefferson, suburban, 30th street and University City stations. Okay, back out live here take a look. Now, you see, i mean, its in seconds youre right through the line and you can go down to your train. When youre on the train you dont have to pay your conductor. Thats been done. Youve proven that. You can sit back and relax after a long day at work. Reporting live at jefferson station, bob brooks channel6 action news. Monica. Thank you bob. Both stepped into the great room and saw two figures standing right at their front doors like right up against the door. Reporter thats when sykes grabbed his shot gun but what happened next is now the subject of a state Attorney Generals Office investigation. Sykes family says the troopers shot first without warning. After he collapsed on the floor, he listed the gun up and shot one shot out the door, not knowing who was there. Reporter while state Police Officials have not said who fired first, they do say that the troopers did identify themselves. Also it turns out that while the troopers were there in response to a 911 call, 33 responded to the wrong house. Sykes was flown to Cooper University hospital in critical condition. Family members say it was only after he awoke from surgery when the 76yearold found out the men on his porch were not intruders. His eyes got as big as saucers and he said what . His condition has been upgraded from serious to stable condition. Thank you will walter. Florida Health Officials have found another 10 people infected with zika virus likely from mosquitos. The cdc today urged pregnant women to stay away from that area in south florida that is affected by the virus. Health reporter and registered nurse ali gorman joins us at the big board with more details. On friday we knew of four locally transmitted cases in florida. Now Health Officials have diagnosed 14 people with zika virus not related to travel. The cdc is sending an emergency team. The main focus will be to protect pregnant women and to stop the spread of zika. A warning from the cdc, pregnant women should avoid traveling to the known zika affected area in south florida. Women living there should preventer mosquito bites and protect themselves against sexual transmission. There are now more than a dozen cases of locally acquired zika virus in florida. That means some o mosquitos in the state are carrying and spreading the virus. Once something starts, we nip it in the bud. Mosquito control is out sprague but cdc officials admit its a tough battle. In miami, aggressive Mosquito Control measures dont seem to be working as well as we would have liked. Governor rick scott has asked the cdc to activate its Emergency Response team which is under way. Teams will help the state investigate cases, control mosquitos and monitor for birth defects linked to the virus. Workers have already been going door to door to test more people. 80 percent wont have symptoms. But if they have the virus and are bitten again by a mosquito it could spread to the bugs next victim. Dr. Mike cal tobias says its possible we could see local cases in our area but it depends on how quickly the virus spreads and how far north it will travel. Hes part of a team that launched the first human trial of a zika virus vaccine. Hes optimistic but time is of the essence. I hope we win the race in that we get there before the zika mosquito gets to us. And the advisory actually stretches back to june 15th. If you are pregnant and you were in the area any time after june 15th, then y should talk to your ob doctor and anyone who was there during that time, should you use insect repellant for three weeks after you return. That way if you have the virus, it will help prevent it from spreading to more mosquitos and hence to more people. Brian and monica, back to you. Keeping a close eye on this one ali thanks very much. A little dicey in some spots cecily. It certainly s the air is really saturated with moisture and were beginning to see some downpours breaking out. Ive been tracking this one line of thunderstorms stretching from the border of new castle and kent county delaware into southern cumberland and its barely moved over the past hour. It stretches from smyrna across the delaware to fortescue. Weve had 53 lightning strikes in the past 15 minutes here but really the big issue is the heavy rain. We can flip this over and show you the rainfall totals and weve seen generally about an inch to about an inch and a half of rain with this cell about an inch and a half near smyrna, 1. 2 in fortescue and this shows that theres just a lot of moisture in the air so any of the showers are thunderstorms can release a lot of rain in a short period of time. And this shows you the dewpoint acrosstheboard except for trenton above 70 degrees so thats a tropical air mass and that is what has all of that moisture. Temperaturewise its not the heat, its the humidity. Temperature is actually on the cool side, philadelphia 78, allentown 77, wilmington 78 and cape may currently 79 degrees. Satellite6 along with action radar you can really see the showers and thunderstorms bubbling up and there is more activity across central pennsylvania. That will continue to push to the east as we head through the evening hours but its one of those situations where not everyone will get the thunderstorms and the downpours. Those who do can get hit very hard. Theyre slow moving, theres nothing to really stuart along and that means we could get generally about one to 3inches of rain in about an hour or two and thats enough to cause localized flash flooding especially areas north of philadelphia where the ground is saturated from over the weekend and the possibility of some of those gusty thunderstorms generally to the south. So, future tracker showing if youre heading out tonight take an umbrella, some scattered downpours around 7 oclock in the ev
