The world and thats just the scene outside. Take a look at the scene inside. This is the Media Filing Center a cavern building where thousands of reporters have come. They have been here 24 hours a day for the last couple of days blogging, broadcasting, writing, reporting the events of this incredibly consequential event up to and including as it plays out tonight and of course all of them will be analyzing what happens here tonight as it happens but sharrie, everyone is really interested in that picture donald trump, Hillary Clinton on the same stage. Yeah, and there absolutely is a process and a structure as to how things will flow tonight. At this point we know the positions of where the candidates will stand. We also know that during this 90 minute debate they want to try to be as fair as possible so that each candidate gets an opportunity to get their message out. We also know who will take the first question tonight. When the clock strikes 9 00 and those lights go on the debate will have a fast start with the first question going to Hillary Clinton which was determined by a coin toss and this is familiar territory for hofstra. This will be the universitys third consecutive time hosting a president ial debate. We have the will here at hofstra president believes very strongly in debates are great for the students and the Community Even when he they come with a few inconvenience so its been a great opportunity for us. The debate will be divided into six segments. 15 minutes each. The topics will focus on americas direction achieving prosperity and securing america. Each candidate will have two minutes to respond. That will be followed by 10 minutes of open debate and discussion which is a new element at the president ial debate. The format is set up to be more of a conversation, more of an in depth look at issues. The ability to drill down into more depth in things. In 2008 at hofstra the format was a table debate in the 2012 it was a town hall meeting held on campus where candidates could roam the stage but tonight donald trump and Hillary Clinton will stand behind lecterns to make their cases to the American People in a format that allows to go beyond the surface on the issues. Because debates really are not about issues. We say they are. They really are about theyre not about policies, theres about persons and thats what the people really want to see. They wander to see how people handle themselves. And so polls show that eight out of 10 people already know who they will be voting for but that 20 percent very crucial. They of course want to hear from the candidates. They wander to hear their message but people also want to see, brian, how these candidates behavior on the stage. Yeah, no question about that. Those are the moments that people remember more than what they said, how they said it and what they did with each other throughout the course of this debate. Right. Would you believe it or not but pennsylvania is going to play a pivotal role in this election that according to one expert here at Hofstra University. Coming up at 6 oclock well why he says you know what, pennsylvania could just decide this thing. More on that at 6 oclock but for now along with Sharrie Williams im brian taff at Hofstra University. What started as a season with low expectations is developing into a magical run that is serving as proof that drafting carson wentz was a really good idea. Coach pederson says the key is to keep their three and o record in perspective. We got to stay humble. The season is very young only three games in. The big sale that could net a. C. About 100 million. Health check tonight the medical benefit researchers say some people battling kidney stones could reap all by riding a roller coaster. Cecily. The fall chill is here. Im tracking rain that will be moving through overnight and more opportunities for wet weather later this week. Ill have it for you when action news is back. Player of cash strapped Atlantic City is applauding a new proposal to pay down some debt. The Municipal Utilities Authority is offering to buy the former baeder field airport from the city for about 100 million. The money would go toward repaying the state. The deal would keep the Water Utility out of state or private hands. City council and the state must still consider the baeder field sale. Unless you are facing a Water Company out there wanting to take over our m. Ua theres no reason you would not see this as a good move forward. Atlantic city has tried to find ways to avoid defaulting on a state loan and then being taken over by the state. On health check tonight allergists say many kids urn using their inhalers properly which could lead to more asthma attacks. Ali gorman joins us at the big board with more. For kids with asthma this time of year can be especially difficult. We have fall allergies and we typically start to see more viruses going around. But some experts say most kids they see that have inhalers arent using them correctly. This means theyre likely not getting the amount of medication they need to keep asthma under control. Now the biggest mistake is not using a spacer. Without it about 80 percent of the medicine actually settles in the mouth and not the lungs. Many kids also dont realize that you have to exhale completely in order to inhale properly. Take some normal breaths and then a big deep breath to fully exhale so that you then have empty lungs to take a nice big deep breath to get all the medicine deep into the lungs. Kids should also stand straight and keep their heads level not tipped back. Doctors say most kids need to practice to get the technique right but when they do, it can significantly cut the number of attacks. And this sounds a little bit odd but a urologist at Michigan StateUniversity Says riding in the back of a rollercoaster can help people to pass kidney stones. The doctor david wordinger had heard this from some of his patients after riding big Thunder Mountain in disney world. He and another researcher set out to test the theory. They made a 3d silicone model of a kidney with small stones. After riding the coaster multiple times the stones moved. In fact when they sat in the back, the stones passed 64 percent of the time. Now, in the front of the car the stones passed only about 16 percent of the time. Of course he says this still needs to be tested in humans but he does say if someone has small stones, riding in the back of a rollercoaster may help them to pass. Disney is the Parent Company of 6abc but the doctor says this should work with many different rollercoasters. Rick and monica. Interesting. Fun test. You ever do the tower of terror, that now youll definitely pass you might pass out. Thank you ali.
