Right now no flights are going in or out because an American Airlines boeing 766 caught on fire. Flight 383 was about to take off from chicago for miami when it blew a tire and damaged an and gin. The pilot aborted takeoff. At least nine people were hurt. It is unclear how badly they were injured. Now closer to home here in bucks county where part of the pennsylvania turnpike is still closed tonight in both directions. Around 7 oclock this morning a dump truck tour down 14 wires in a construction zone. More than 10 hours later, the road is still closed and its expected to stay that way through tonights rush hour. In Chester Township two Freight Train blows were hurt after two Freight Trains collided led on this morning. One was pulling dozens of empty cars another was carrying eight cars full of consumer goods and food products. The cause of the crash still under investigation. New at five tonight officials in wilmington are trying to figure out how a pellet gun ended up inside of a school bathroom. That gun ended up going off injuring two boys. Happened around 9 45 yesterday morning at the Warner Elementary School on west 18th street. Now both boys involved are facing serious consequences. So far the police are not getting any cooperation at all from the accused boys parents or guardians in this case. The investigation does continue with two boys however in hot water. A double shooting inside the normally quiet Warner Elementary School yesterday morning. Two fifth graders were lit with discharges from a pellet gun. It happened inside this boys room just before 9 45. Two boys also fifth graders had entered the room officials say, one boy handing the air pistol over to his buddy he. The students began the play around, a little fire play horseplay with the air gun. One pellet discharged. It hit the wall and it ricocheted and grazed someones neck and then another student was struck in the thumb. Reporter both victims were treated by the school nurse and there was apparently no need to take them to a hospital. The parents of the two fifth graders who handled this weapon denied any knowledge of how the gun got there. Both boys it appears will be expelled from the Warner Elementary School. Student code of conduct that governs orebody at the school as well as the district calls for very specific consequences. Reporter and they are. Expulsion, expulsion from school. Reporter the weapon was recovered from the police from inside a student locker. All of the parents in the 450 Student School have been notified. Its scary. It is. And as a parent, i do agree there they should have parenting for people that know that they have troubled children. Reporter monica, i must point out here that just last year at this same school there was a similar incident involving a pellet gun. In new jersey a mother is looking for answers after her son was seriously injured at school a case of horseplay in the hallway spiraled out of control and now a 12yearold is missing a finger. Nora muchanic is live in our new jersey news room with there story. Reporter monica that horseplay ended in a disfiguring injury for middle school student. His frustrated mother contacted us when she couldnt get help or a response from the School District. When she pushed me. Reporter hes a sixth grader at Grace Dunn Middle School in trenton. On october 6th a friend of his shoved him into the locker severing part of the pinkie finger on his right hand. One land slipped off the locker and i tried to stop myself with this hand and my finger got caught up in the air vent and it took off the top part. Reporter he required surgery to he repair the injury the severed part of his finger could not be reattached. Hes been out of school and has either a doctor appointment or physical therapy every day. I have insurance. My insurance covered some of it but not all of it. You have insurance that would cover the rest of it. Reporter his mother says despite repeatedly contacting the school board of education and suits office she has been unable to get information about the districts insurance coverage. Home schooling for her son or what, if any, discipline the girl who pushed him into the locker has received. I dont think im asking too much. I think ive waited long enough. Reporter she says she learned the name of the districts insurer independently and once she called they knew nothing about the case. How do you have somebody lose a finger and dont know know . Nobody says anything . Nobody is called to check on him to see if he was all right. No nothing. Reporter the School District tells action news Grace Dunn Middle School filed a medical incident report october 6th and the case is being reviewed. Meantime this 12yearold boy who plays basketball football and soccer remains out of school and worried about what losing part of his finger will mean. How. Reporter now, late this afternoon the School District said it will be reaching out to the family to make accommodations for home schooling and a spokesman would not comment on whether the girl who pushed him was disciplined. Engineers shut down the bridge today to all traffic when a large crack was discovered in one of the girders. The 86yearold bridge is the main entry he in and out of stone harbor. Now drivers must detour onto either North Wildwood boulevard ocean drive or avalon boulevard. County engineers say theres no timetable yet for when the bridge will reopen.
